      Playa de la Barceloneta 🏖

      March 28 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

      Barcelonaaaaa

      December 26, 2022 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

      Barcelona day 2

      April 3 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Today, we got up and B lined to the beach. The sun was out, and it was finally our first hot day. We walked for probably an hour and half (half of which was on the highway). Once we got there, we realized we walked straight to the cargo port, and the beach was almost a 2 hour walk away. So we changed our plans. We started walking to Sagrada De Famillia, and it was also an hour and a half away. We stopped for lunch once we got halfway there and learned all the tickets were sold out. We were getting frustrated, but luckily, we ordered carne paella, and it saved the day. It was so good. Now, back to the beach plan. We found a nice spot to chill in the sand and just relax. The beach was so busy it was ridiculous. There were so many beach vendors trying to sell us alcohol, drugs, blankets, and massages. These guys start their prices really high, and when we say no their very quick to lower their price. One guys starting price was 2 beers for 4€ we said we needed 4 beers and that his price was too much. He said he only has 3, but if we pay him now, he'll go grab us another. We said no, thank you. About 30 minutes later, he came back with 4 beers and changed his price to 5€. We took the fella up on it, and all of a sudden, we were swarmed by vendors lol. Maybe I'm a baby, but the water was way too cold to swim in lol. I got a sunburn on my neck because I absolutely refused sunscreen. It'll be a tan in a few days, though lol. We took the bus back to the hostel because it offers free vegetarian dinner every night. So we stopped at the grocery store and picked up some sandwich meat to add to the veggies they cooked lol. You'll have to ask Pearse if the veggies were good, but the sandwich meat was pretty good lol. I think the sun drained us because we were so tired last night. We just chilled out in the common area. Pearse passed out down there, and when we were finally kicked out, I woke him and said, "Let's go to bed." His response was, "No, I'm just gonna go back to the hostel" I think that says how tired we were lol.Read more

      Barcelona Ost

      September 7, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Read more

Our final form of transport in Barcelona

      September 22, 2019 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Our final form of transport was El Tram. Another facility added for the Olympic games but unlike the Olympic village this is still used to this day. We did get a driver and a good job too. There was definitely one Muppet on a scooter, wearing headphones, that needed clean underwear after crossing our path. The driver gave him a good sound thrashing with the horn. He won't do that again.Read more

      Hafen- und Strandspaziergang

      April 12 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

      Last day in Barcelona

      June 21, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Day started with bacon & eggs as usual plus the other hotel breakfast goodies!
Off to the laundromat and a dress shop on the way. It is utterly fascinating that each little area has a wonderful array of shops tucked away. I guess the population density means that they can all make a living. Cecily & I ( slightly discouraged from our failures yesterday) gave it our best. It was reasonably priced so we had a
good time purchasing. I do wonder when I will wear the dress I bought! But that’s just the perils of shopping away from home.
It’s fascinating how many conversations with complete strangers are had while waiting for laundry! I even took one woman back to the dress shop!
Time to walk to the beach front and suss out the sailing trip that had been booked for us. When we arrived it was evident that the sea was fairly rough from a northerly 15 knot wind. The operator was very reasonable - he obviously didn’t want to deal with six elderly sea sick passengers. After careful consideration the trip was cancelled. We walked along the sea front of Little Barcelona, looking at the fab and not so fab bathers!!!!
Stopped on the walk back to the city for dinner. 20,000 steps + today. Back to our hotel H10 20 Urqinaona for bag packing, ready for an early start tomorrow and our flight to Split.

Ne, wat sind die alle fotogen!

      April 3 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

      Barcelona pt 1

      February 29 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

First thing I did when I got to barcelona was meet spencer at a restaurant and order a paella. It was so yummy but a much darker colour than I'm used to them being. After the restaurant we walked through the gothic district (which I think is called that because all the shops sell emo clothes), had a beer at one of the restaurants in the la boqueria markets and then went to the beach for a swim which was so cold but was nice to wake me up a bit after my early flight. The hostel we were staying at was so much better than the one I got in lisbon, they put on a little meet up event every night with free sangria so all the new guests can meet people. We made friends with 3 people, Leila from the UK, zach from USA and Gaia from France. Spencer and I entered a beer pong tournament where u pay 15 euros to enter but if you win you get 40 and got absolutely destroyed in the first round, I've never lost so fast in my entire life ahaha. After the hostel bar we went to a techno club and then kicked on to watch the sunrise at the beach. The beach in the morning was so cold so we all had to cuddle up to stay warm. The next morning I got up before everyone else and went for a walk to check out two weird buildings called casa vincens gaudi and casa batllo, they were super funky and cool to look at. You can pay to go inside but it was so expensive so i didn't bother. After that, me, spencer, leila and zach all went out for tapas and then walked to see the sagrada familia basilica and the park guell. Annoyingly the  Park had sold out (how can a park sell out ?!?!) so we couldn't go in. It was fine though because right behind the park was a huge hill which we walked up to watch the sunset, it was really nice but super cold, not as good as the athens one. At night we went to another club which was pretty rubbish, zach and I left early. Barcelona was so good I wish we had more time!Read more

      Barceloneta

      October 31, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C
