      27. Etappe: Vilela - Lourenza

      Heute gibt es nicht viel zu erzählen
      Die Nacht war gut, allerdings konnte ich nur schwer einschlafen. Ich glaube das gestrige fette Abendessen (gebackenes Hähnchen mit Kartoffeln) lag mir zu schwer im Magen. Auf dem Weg (heute wieder fast komplett mit Silvia gelaufen) ging es richtig gut. Ich hätte heute wider Erwarten noch locker 10 km drauf packen können.

      Day 29–30

      Von Ribadeo nach Lourenza

      Die erste Etappe weg vom geliebten Meer. 27 km standen heute auf dem Programm incl. Wechsel von Asturien nach Galizien und der Gewissheit das es jetzt nur noch weniger als 200 km bis zum Ziel in Santiago de Compostella sind. Zieht man die heutige Tour ab, so sind es sogar nur noch ca. 160 km. Santiago ich komme.
      Zunächst ging es aus dem netten kleinen Städtchen Ribadeo heraus über zahlreiche Feldwege auf eine Anhöhe hinauf. Die Wege sind jetzt auf einmal recht ordentlich ausgeschildert und da ich jetzt zu 100% dem Camino folge kann ich mich auch nach den Schildern richten, die jetzt auch immer die noch ausstehenden Kilometer anzeigen. Eine durchaus schöne Wanderung wo ich dann auf Robert, einem Kerl aus München traf, der bei Conti arbeitet. Nachdem auch nach 20 km der Wegstrecke keine Bar oder Restaurant in Sicht war, hielten wir einen Brotlieferanten an, kauften ihm eine Stange Weißbrot ab und machten Brotzeit. Nur um dann zu erfahren, dass nach einem km weiter doch noch eine Bar käme. Diese besuchte dann Robert alleine, weil ich gerade im Tritt war und die letzten 6 km für den Tag direkt anging. Angekommen in der Herberge dann erst mal entspannen und die Architektur bewundern. Abends kochte dann Viktor, ein Ungar, Spaghetti Bolognese für uns alle - also Robert und mich und natürlich ihn selbst. Herrlich lecker im Gegensatz zum Tag davor.      Read more

      135. Etappe: Lourenza

      Zum Auftakt in Galicien gab es heute Aprilwetter. Sonnenschein soweit das Auge guckt, aber immer wieder Regen und Wind. Aber mein Timing war gut: Als die größten Regengüsse übers Land sausten, hatte ich immer einen kleinen Unterstand in der Nähe, so dass ich kaum nass geworden bin. So vergingen die 31 km heut auch sehr schnell - insbesondere, da man hier nun eine Art Countdown bekommt. Auf den Meter genau weisen hier Monoliten die exakte Entfernung nach Santiago de Compostela aus.
      Aber ans Wandern ohne Meerblick muss ich mich erst noch gewöhnen 😅      Read more

      Gondán-San Justo-Vilanova de Lourenzá

      Ein schöner halb verregneter Wandertag der es echt in sich hatte. Eine Berg und Tal Tour von 560 Höhenmeter runter auf 100 und wieder hoch usw. Da wurde echt alles abverlangt und die Füße haben topp mitgemacht. Ich bin heute mal wieder eine Etappe mit Martin gelaufen, ein sehr sympathischer Dänischer Professor der Philosophie. Wir haben soviele gleiche Themen das es echt sehr erfüllend ist zwischen durch Stunden mit ihm zu verbringen.
      Wir sind auf eine nagelneue Alberge gestoßen, wo wir, denke ich, mal wieder richtig gut nächtigen können. ❤️      Read more

      Tag 23: Adios Asturien; Hola Galizien

      Strecke: 34 km; HM: 875m; von Tapia de Casariego nach Gondan

      Heute hatten wir zwar noch bei kalten Temperaturen bis zur Ankunft unsere Pullover/Jacken an, aber es war wie vorhergesagt den ganzen Tag sonnig. So ließ sich heute nur schwer das Meer zurücklassen, was uns die ganzen bisherigen Tage begleitet hat. Das ist nun vorbei. Mit der Überquerung der Brücke nach Ribadeo haben wir nicht nur Asturien hinter uns gelassen, sondern auch das Meer und wandern nun ins galizische Hochland rein auf unseren Weg nach Santiago de Compostela. Aufgrund der nächsten Tage, die wir durch sehr unbesiedeltes Gebiet laufen, haben wir uns entschieden eine neue Bestweite zurückzulegen. Sonst hätten wir Mal nur 10 km laufen müssen und da hatten wir nicht so Lust drauf. So kämpften wir uns bis hierher nach Gondan. Hier in der Herberge sind wir bis jetzt erst zu dritt. Es ist sauber im Vergleich zu gestern, was uns schonmal ein gutes Gefühl gibt.Read more

      Camino Del Norte - Day 22

      Ribadeo to Lourenza
      Distance 27.5km (7.5 hours)
      Total ascent 710m

      My stay at the Ribadeo Albergue was excellent. I decided to go on another short walk, without a rucksack, to the nearby headland. I am so pleased that I did. The views were fantastic. The bad weather had finally broken and the coast was bathe in sunshine.
      Evening meal was shared with my German and Italian peregrinos. We had break, cheese, red wine with gazoela (similar to Sprite).
      An early night as we were up for 5.30am and on the Camino for 6am. The sky was very black and threatening to rain again. Thankfully, it stayed away. The first few hours, we were climbing constantly through small hamlets and eucalyptus forests. The views were stunning. We had our last few of the Bay of Biscay.
      After 5 hours of walking, we finally found an open cafe in Villamartin Grande. We were starving.
      After large coffees and some food, we were ready to carry on. As we climbed another hill, a deer burst out through the undergrowth six feet in front of us. It looked at us and straight across the path to disappear again.
      We arrived at the Albergue in Lourenza at 1.30pm. We had our pick of beds and use of showers etc before the rest of the hoards arrive.
      Lourenza is a small sleepy town. It's highlight is the 10th century Benedictine Monasterio De San Salavador. It's facade is by the same architect who was also responsible for the Cathedral of Santiago's facade.

      Tomorrow means more hills and a slightly shorter way to Gontin.

      Arrived tired. Dropped our stuff. Showered. Washed clothes and put them on the line to dry. Begrudgingly walked the 10 minutes into town to by groceries for dinner and breakfast. Walked the 10 minutes up hill to the house. Great little house with a view of the cathedral from dining room and kitchen. Jordan and Marie made pesto pasta and salad while I wrapped myself in a blanket on the couch. Then the three of polished a container of ice cream. Ate dinner around 10. Bed by 11:30Read more

      This was a 28 km walk with two fairly steep ascents. We have left the ocean behind and are now walking in Galician countryside--very green, lots of little hamlets with stone buildings, cows and pigs everywhere.

      We left at 7 from our pension. I had had a coffee with my electric coil but the two guys had not. About 9 km into the walk we ran into two guys with a donkey. They were going to put in bean poles for their bean crop. Here's an interesting tidbit--a high percentage of these famous Asturian beans,fabas, are actually grown in Galicia. The guys told us that they take care of the crops, and at harvest the Asturian bean buyers come over to Galicia to buy their beans. Under EU regulations, all that the label has to show is where the product was bagged, Not where they were grown. So most "Asturian beans" are actually from Galicia.

      After our bean chat, these two told us there was a bar 400m off the camino near where we were standing, but nothing on camino for the next 15 km. So we reluctantly took this detour for a coffee and a bocadillo.

      There were quite a few people on the camino today. A bus load of Austrians who were picked up by a luxury bus, in addition to the smattering of people we've seen this past week.

      All day it was misty and foggy but no rain. We are in the municipal albergue in a room with 10 beds. It's an ear plug night.      Read more

      Caminando llegarás donde te propones

      Etapa 26 Ribadeo hasta Laurenzá 30 km.

      - 30/10/23 8:30 Ya en Ribadeo (Galicia) un pueblo grande donde hay bastantes cosas para poder seguir el camino si necesitas algo.

      8:30 en Correos, dejando más de 3 kilos que me sobraban de la maleta, para continuar hoy más ligero de equipaje y poder hacer los 30 km con un poco más de soltura, y creo que ha sido una muy buena decisión.

      Ya en marcha, se presentó un día de un poco de frío pero un día de sol y todo despejado, parece que estábamos dando un paseo por los pueblos y montañas de cualquier sitio.

      Praderas, animales, ríos y pueblos. Una subida de 380 metros y mucha mucha vista de valles y verde.

      Ya sobre las 13 pm y a mitad de camino todo cambio, empezó una nube gris y un poco de viento encima de la montaña, 30 min después, viento fuerte y lluvia sin cesar, vaya lo que estaba callendo.

      Pasado 2 horas de esas lluvias, todo empezó a calmar, ha cesar y tranquilizar. Ya empezamos a conectar un poco con la naturaleza y seguir aprovechando de sus frutos y todo lo que nos ofrece.

      30 km con menos peso y con más motivación, dejando la distancia de 161 km de distancia para llegar a Santiago. Ya eso es un paseo después de todo lo que se queda atrás.

      Seguimos preparados para lo que toque.

      - Hoy he aprendido que hay muchas clases de personas, pero que las que hay que tener en cuenta y hacer caso, son las que hacen algo por otros y para otros. Todas las demás o los demás son por simple egoísmo, y eso al final se sabe.

      - Me quedo con los paseos largos de subida y bajadas, de las vistas que se presentan y las lluvias que nos mojan. Me quedo con caminar sin mirar atrás, y poder conocer sin saber que será lo próximo que se presentará, me quedo sin tener ninguna perspectiva del camino.
