Ik dacht dat alle regen Italië zou vallen. Erg jammer. Door Baskenland. En langs golf van Biskaje. Daarna de lange pas door het cantabrisch gebergte en tussen drie nationale parken door. Da wir auf 1670 Meter höhe Standen, wurde es in der Nacht ziemlich kalt 🥶. Es ging runter auf 4 Grad, da waren wir sehr froh über unsere Dieselstandheizung. 🙂
Geschlafen haben wir nicht so gut, in der Nacht wehte teilweise stark der Wind.💨

Am Vormittag regnete es die ganze Zeit, so packten wir uns zusammen und fuhren nach Rianõ weiter. Dort suchten wir ein Plätzchen für die Nacht.

Ansonsten verbrachten wir den Tag im Bus bei Regenwetter. 🌧️Read more

Regionalpark Picos

Das Wochenende haben wir im Regionalpark Picos de Europa verbracht. Wir sind den Pico Gilbo hoch gewandert, haben direkt am See gecampt und abends Brettspiele mit vierbeinigen Zaungästen gespielt 😊

Aus dem Nationalpark "Picos de Europa" geht es in den gleich angrenzenden Regionalpark "Parque Regional Montana de Riaño y Mampodre".

Auf einem gemeindeeigenen kostenlosen Stellplatz direkt an einem Stausee finden wir Quartier für die Nacht.

Tja - und am nächsten Tag entscheiden wir, nicht weiterzufahren, sondern einen Tag hier zu bleiben und mal wieder etwas Ruhe zu genießen.Read more

🍝 SOSTA Pranzo c/o LAGO RIANO

Dopo circa 110 Km alle 14:50 decidiamo di sostare nel parcheggio della chiesa di ⛪ RIANO con vista lago 🏞️ per un pranzo veloce e poter godere della vista 👁️. Dopo il pranzo approfittiamo dell'area verde adiacente per una passeggiata digestiva e per vedere il primo HORREOS, una struttura in legno con tetto in coppi sospeso su 4 pilastri di pietra tipico granaio 🌾 del NORD OVEST della penisola iberica e la chiesa ⛪, il tutto circondato da una vista a 360° gradi sull'EMBALSE 🏞️ di RIANO un invaso artificiale di dimensioni immense con una storia tormentata che parte con una progettazione di inizio novecento e si conclude con l'allagamento avvenuto nel 1987. Tale intervento ha determinato l'allagamento forzoso di una valle e di ben 9 villaggi storici, oggi si notano alcuni segni nell'invaso in parte in secca, si scorgono ponti e strade perfettamente asfaltate e dotate di segnaletica come emergere da una palude.
In questo luogo misto tra meraviglia e tristezza nel cielo abbiamo visto volare qualche GRIFONE 🦅.

Dem ist so aber nicht 😅 wir sind weiter nach Riaño, wo der große Stausee einem mit der Bergkulisse mal kurz überlegen lässt, ob man schon noch in Spanien ist oder nicht doch irgendwo in Norwegen 😃

Riaño - Potes - geile Strecke N-621

Ein aufregender Tag geht zur Neige.
Nach unserer Wanderung gestern haben wir uns heute Morgen nach einem Tankstopp, hier kann man Diesel noch für 1,799 tanken,
sowie einer Ver- und Entsorgung auf den Weg zur 2. Etappe gemacht.
Es war wieder eine atemberaubende, kurvenreiche Strecke in einer Höhe von 1600 m. Wir kamen noch an einer "Wassertankstelle" vorbei, wo wir reinstes Quellwasser auffüllten.
Dann kam noch eine Aufregung vom Feinsten auf uns zu. Die Drohne sollte noch einmal zum Einsatz kommen, was im Nachhinein keine so gute Idee war. Kurz vor dem Flugende stürzte sie in eine Baumspitze und blieb natürlich in den Ästen hängen. Eine schwierige Rettungsaktion stand bevor.
Zu guter Letzt gab es ein happy end.
In Potes angekommen fanden wir einen schönen Platz für die Nacht - denkste.
Als wir von einem Rundgang zurückkamen, erfuhren wir, dass hier nicht geparkt werden darf, da der Platz nur an Sonn- und Feiertagen geöffnet ist.
Ein netter Spanier erlaubte uns, an seinem Grundstück zu übernachten.Read more

Osterwanderung Riaño

Unsere Osterwanderung haben wir nach 9 km am Embarcadero Riaño beendet.
Wetter war bei 21° genau richtig.
Die Gegend um den Stausee einfach traumhaft.
Jetzt bin ich aber geschafft, hätte nicht gedacht, dass mein geschädigter Fuß schon nach einer Woche diese Tour, ohne große Schmerzen, mitmacht.
Nun braucht er aber Ruhe und nichts als Ruhe.
Morgen geht's die N-621 weiter zur Küste. Wird wahrscheinlich auch nochmal spannend.Read more

Day 35
Apologies to the bison

The bison do exist after all.
2 years ago 4 of them were introduced into the area round the reservoir along with a bunch of water buffalo. They had been badly treated somewhere and a couple of the rest of the herd had been beheaded by undesirables somehow... So now they have the whole Picos to roam.
We cycled out along the lake northbound and visited a couple of the villages that had been relocated when the valley was flooded. They had saved their church facades and their bells and we saw some of the old roads and cemeteries peeping out of the water
Managed to scrounge a coffee out of a very quiet hostel. Hard to keep saying spectacular scenery but it was indeed.
Back to town with just enough time to visit the ethnographic museum in town.
Fascinating place. Every house that was lost was photographically archived on the walls along with the names of the owners. Also there was a display on the walls of the Kings of Leon from 10th century to the 13th century. Never realised before now that the band was named after them.
Back up the hill in the searing heat. Cachophony of jet skis on the lake in the village below, along with Saturday motorbikers screaming around the mountain bends.
Then the wind whipped up and the clouds rolled in. Cool at last .Read more

Day 34
Bison lost in translation

Up early to get a bike ride into the mountains before it got too hot. We swept over the bridge and up towards the dam that supports the reservoir. Then an uphill road to a tiny village called Remolina, which is nestled in between the crags. Had a completely incomprehensible conversation with an old lady as we sat in the square.
Bit of a slog back to Riano but beautiful.
We were back in the campsite by 2pm and had lunch in the shade.
In the late afternoon we went back down to the village and went on a boat ride to the far reaches of the reservoir. We were told we might see bison but, as usual, we saw nothing. We think that the "bison" might be deer....
Flogged up the hill to the campground again for alfresco dinner and watched the sun set behind the mountains.Read more
