The wind had really picked up overnight, whipping straight across the sea and over the low lying land of the West coast. It was therefore a difficult drive to our next stopover at a 'Stellplatz' outside a sports centre.
Our impression of motorway rest areas has definitely improved since a low baseline was set soon after we entered Sweden. The one we visited today was clean, with well set out parking and even provided a dedicated facility for emptying cassette toilets.
We've been used to seeing alcohol-free beers but picking up a few bits and bobs from the supermarket, Will found some alcohol-free red wine. We guess it is a consequence of the strict regulations on selling alcoholic drinks here. We got two different types but the first just tasted like good grape juice without any if the punch or depth of flavour in a normal wine. We'll let you know if the other turns oit to be any better!
The stopover was supposed to be 100 SEK (£10) but the biglietautomat (ticket machine) was oit of order and the signs for payment had been covered up. Nonetheless the area was well maintained and we were able to plug in to the electricity point for free!Read more
