More Mountains… (Mt. Rigi)

As thousands crowded the city for the visit of Taylor Swift, our hosts tailored us a swift trip into the country. Once out of town, we rode the oldest Cogwheel train line up the side of Mt. Rigi. From a height of nearly 1,800m we had a spectacular view of the Swiss Alps.
Upon decent we sailed on a very old (antique😉) steam-piston-driven water wheel boat.
We finished our journey with a visit to Rhine Falls - Europes largest water fall.Read more

Lusern and Mount Rigi

Had a great day. I left the bike at Google and went on a train to Lusern then a ferry boat for an hour to the foot of Mount Rigi, then a cog railway which climbed very steeply up the mountain for around 40 minutes. We were above the clouds at the top. Beautiful. The we walked down for 40 minutes and caught a different train and had a walk around Lusern.
More walking after another train to Zurich as we went to Google to dry my washing as they have facilities for the staff. At the end of a tiring day we had walked over 23000 steps. Over 11 miles. The day finished with a lovely self service Italian meal. Followed by renting a couple of electric assisted bicycles to ride back to Google and pick up my washing.Read more
Lovely place, Luzern - we haven't been for several years, which is too long. Your photos look as if you did most of the sights while you were there., and as if you enjoyed it. Sally

Jean Johnson Luzern was where I went on my first trip abroad as a young teenager and the friends I made there are still part of my world. Great place. J.

Train to Mount Rigi

Sunny day perfect for a trip up Mount Rigi, via the ferry from Lucerne to Vitznau. The Rigi cog railway takes 40 minutes giving beautiful views over the lake and white capped mountains, dense forested slopes, past a field of pretty cows with their neck bells clanging, past a swiss chalet, the aroma of freshly mown grass. View from the summit are once again spectacular, with the Alps in the distance. Lots of red benches to sit and bask in the hot sun, even at 6000ft altitude. . Such a wonderful and easy trip to take from Lucerne, and get the full on Swiss experience.Read more

Von der Seebodenalp auf die Rigi

Wir starten bei der Seebodenalp und nehmen den Wanderweg, der von den Einheimischen liebevoll als "Grüeziweg" bezeichnet wird. Von einigen Punkten am Weg hat man eine herrliche Aussicht bis weit ins Mittelland.

Das Panorama auf der Rigi ist fantastisch - wenn auch etwas getrübt vom grossen Touristenstrom.

Für den Abstieg fokussieren wir Ruedisegg. Von da aus können wir noch einen Teil des Panoramaweges geniessen bis wir wieder zur Seebodenalp gelangen.Read more
