End of the tour, start of gals trip!

      July 19, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Today we woke up after a sleep in, got our luggage repacked and headed to breakfast. There we said godbye to our tour group, everyone seemed a bit emotional to be finishing up which was lovely. Erin and I then walked to Lidl, a grocery store to buy some supplies for our road trip to Switzerland. We grabbed an Uber to the hotel where we picked up our car. It was tricky getting out of the city but i had my trusty navigator Erin guiding me. It was a little stressful but soon we were on the freeway and allowed to do whatever speed I wanted. Didn't go too crazy but did get up to 140km at one point, with some people still zooming past us.
We crossed the border with no issues, just a smile and a wave. Then we drove along this stunning road right by a lake overlooking mountains on the way into Zurich.
We arrived at our accommodation to meet Kate and Liisa. We woke Kate up from a nap and it was so nice to see her. Then we saw Liisa and it was a fabulous reunion. We all caught up then headed to Zurich via the train and a tram lead by tour guide Liisa for dinner. We walked around a bit because everything was so expensive but finally found this random italian place where the waiter struggled to understand Erins request for wine. We then walked along the river and stopped for a drink. Then we headed back after a snack stop at Spar and all headed off to bed.

      Zurich

      September 6, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

Spent the day in Zurich- lovely old city- it is amazing wandering around streets made of cobblestone, seeing buildings older than when our country was "discovered", there is so much history in each place!
Art gallery was interesting- always a puzzle as what ends up being art.
Shopped up a storm on Banhofstr Street - Not!
Security guards on the did kind of stop you from wanting to go in. 🤣😂

      Spontan klappte ziemlich gut.

      June 13, 2022 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

      August 15, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

      Zürich Day 2

      July 22, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

This has got to be one of my favourite days on the trip so far! It was long, but super rewarding! I had the free breakfast at my hostel, and then Carys and Madi came over to my hostel to meet! We went on this hike that my hostelmate had done yesterday- she gave me an extremely detailed itinerary of what she did, so we followed it to the T! So, she gave me a dropped pin on the map and we just walked in that direction- we stopped by the grocery store to grab food on the way, and this already took an hour 😭 we also got distracted by farm animals and little gardens along the way. And then- the hike begins. It was only about 2 hours upward, very steep, a bit difficult, lots of breaks. But it’s okay! We had a lot of butterfly breaks on this part of the trek. We would sit down and butterflies would come and sit on our hands or our heads and it was the cutest thing ever!! Besides that, this part of the hike was the most difficult part. But, there were lots of viewpoints along the way, which was quite encouraging. We also got a bit lost and confused, but ultimately made our way to the first checkpoint, which was the top of Zürich!! The view was stunnnnnning! You could see the entire city on one side, and heaps of mountains on the other. Then, we had to find the cablecar down. We were a bit confused to start once again, but figured it out, and sort of had to walk across the mountain (with little to no incline) for another 2 ish hours. This part was also very lovely, as there was lots of vast farmland and fields. We did a lot of frolicking, a lot of laying down in the fields, a lot of laughing. We kept saying that we feel like fairies 🧚‍♀️🧚🧚‍♂️!! Soon, we finally made it to the cable car and took it down to the bottom. Afterwards, we bussed over to a park on the lake which was like a little island. Me and Carys did some swimming, and I had a little nap after. Later that evening, I grabbed some microwave dinner 😭😭 because I can’t afford a proper meal in the Swiss economy. After, we met up in hopes of going clubbing or something, but we just ended up walking around and sharing a bottle of wine, and sharing stories- because none of us wanted to pay 20-25 francs for entry 😞😞😞😞.Read more

      On the Top of Zürich👍

      August 7, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Danke 😘 IHR beiden. Ihr habt uns zwei schöne Abende bereitet.
Morgen geht’s weiter nach Liechtenstein 🇱🇮
      Gutes Nächtli🥰

      Tschüss Zürich!

      July 27, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

      True Neutrality

      October 24, 2023 in Switzerland ⋅ 🌧 11 °C

After a night of sleep which was gratefully devoid of mosquitoes, we started the day by downing a few cups of "free" coffee before heading on a wet walk back to the central station of Milan. While it is a beautiful building, it is also quite busy, so the way we could get a seat while waiting for the train was to buy another coffee (and accompanying croissant -- of course)

We said goodbye to Milan and boarded the train for a ~4 hour ride to the capital of Switzerland, Zürich! The second half of the trip heading through the Swiss countryside was absolutely stunning! Comparable to the Fjords of Norway!

Once we arrived in the city we were once again greeted by rain, and so we beelined directly to our hostel. Once the two of us checked in we headed to our dorm and witnessed the strangest occurrence, another female in our dorm! Very unprecedented.

While it was still raining outside we hung around the dorm and chatted a little with some of the other dorm members. (With more coffee!)

Finally the rain let up and it was time to go find something to eat for dinner. We couldn't stomach the idea of how much it cost to eat out so we went to a supermarket and picked up old faithful, instant soup and bread.

We brought our meal back and ate it, before going for one final walk -- which was shortened by the rain...
