    Paje, Kinazi Upepo Bungalows

    November 14, 2017 in Tanzania

White sand, colorful skies, a nice Bungalow, Masai beach boys, awesome fish currys and masala chips, oh, and Konyagi nights ✌️. These things explain or 5 nights in Paje quite well.

Very strange things however occurred to the soap in our bungalow. First night, while sleeping, two packs of soap right next to the sink simply disappear! We didn’t really have an answer to this, the monkeys, that come to our roof at night, have no way in. We get a new soap and take very good care of it. But two days later, after we return from a local bar, the soap is gone AGAIN! Creepy sh*t. The next morning we find out, that the rats or rodents sometimes eat soap 🐀😳??

In the mornings, we do some work (Christmas is coming) and in the afternoons we hang out on the beach, playing soccer or ring toss with the local masai boys. There are a lot of Masai guys here, selling their jewelry on the beach. Almost all are really nice and we are having good times with them. We also see them doing their Masai dance and jumping. Cool stuff!

    Paradise (again)

    May 19, 2016 in Tanzania

It's starting to feel like we're bragging about all these beautiful beaches we're getting to go to. But, here we are again, on a nearly deserted beach. This time on Zanzibar. We arrived late last night and discovered that low season is basically empty. There have been other tourists around, but they are few and far between. We found one restaurant open for dinner last night and there was only one other family there. Rachel tried the ugali with curry, a traditional Tanzanian dish eaten by hand. Nick had the chicken masala, of course. Here's a picture of today's paradise, Nick the cat whisperer, and the plane we took here. Hope you all are enjoying the warm weather as well!Read more

    Blue Lagoon

    August 7 in Tanzania

    Ocean Blue

    August 4 in Tanzania

    Kite Surfing

    August 6 in Tanzania

Read more

    February 13 in Tanzania

Reggel fájó szívvel, de elhagytuk a Paradicsomot.
Paje felé vettük az utunkat, ami a sziget keleti részén található, igazi "beach village".
Szállásunk a New Teddy's place a legjobban értékelt hostel egész Tanzániában, nem véletlenül.
Úton a hostel felé magálltunk megnézni a Jozani erdôt, mely Zanzibár ôserdôje, nemzeti parkja. Ritka, csak itt élô kis majmokról nevezetes, akiket szerencsésen láttunk is. Láthatólag nagy fontosságot tulajdonítanak az erdô megóvására.
Paje-n a beach tényleg nagyon más. Hosszan elnyúló fehér homokos part. A víz - ha távolról nézed türkiszkék, ha közelrôl - türkiszzöld... és rettenetesen meleg :-).
A part mentén kis bárok, boltok, maszályok próbálják értékesíteni portékájukat.

    Zanzibari Diving

    May 22, 2016 in Tanzania

Jambo! This afternoon we completed two dives in the lagoon off Paje with Buccaneer Diving. The water was very choppy compared to the calm of Tioman Island, but it was worth it nonetheless. We saw some unique and beautiful coral landscapes more diverse than what we've seen before. Rachel especially enjoyed the sea anemones of many different kinds and colors. We went on the search for seahorses in a sandy plain with some intermittent seaweed, and we saw three of them; that was so cool to see them in their natural habitat. Another highlight was seeing a sizeable octopus hiding in a hole in the coral; it was changing colors between dark and light, presumably in an attempt at camouflage. Nick also spotted a ray that quickly fled when it realized we were getting nearer. Also interesting were lionfish and some very small and very colorful lobster type animals. After the dives, we joined the Germans from our dive trip for beers and dinner, and we had an enjoyable evening exchanging travel stories and cultural perspectives.

We are currently scheduled to dive again on Tuesday, but if the water remains this choppy the guide said they would be doing the same two dives. If that's the case, we wouldn't want to do these dives again in the same weather so are talking about a day snorkel trip to Mnemba Atoll, where everyone tells us you can see amazing things from the surface. Tomorrow, though, is the last mostly sunny day on the island so we're going to enjoy the sunshine on the beach!
