    La Playa, Krabi - Aonang

    October 18 in Thailand

Im La Playa Resort waren wir vom 18. - 20.10.18.

    Day 2 in Krabi

    February 7 in Thailand

The good news today is that Dore is feeling much better. The bad news is that I have the flu as well with a very high fever. Just back from a doctor’s visit. I have started on the flu medicine and my plan is to wake up tomorrow feels by much better. No lunch or dinner for me today 😱 so my appetite better come back soon. In the meantime, check out the main pool. So big that even 2 photos won’t get it all in.Read more

    Real Thai food

    February 8 in Thailand

Some of the most delicious Thai food I’ve had, served with the biggest smiles. How can you not love it? Sour chicken wings, spicy grilled beef salad, green curry with seafood, crazy delicious steamed fish with spicy lemon sauce and to finish off, mango with (black) sticky rice.

    A spectacular day

    February 14 in Thailand

Today was spent on the water visiting 4 islands near Krabi. What a trip. The water was crystal clear, blue green. You could see colored fish swimming without using a mask. The sand was superfine. There were countless outcroppings of small, uninhabited islands. Breathtaking!

    Day 1 in Krabi

    February 6 in Thailand

Krabi is in Southern Thailand across from Phuket. We arrived this morning for 10 days of doing absolutely nothing (except for lazing in the beach, taking walks, reading and of course eating lots of delicious Thai food. The one problem: Dore has the flu. He got hit with it Sunday afternoon and gas spent the last 3 days in bed. A visit to the doctor here was helpful. He has some meds to ease symptoms (hopefully). This was definitely not part of the plan!Read more

There are many great things about time at the beach. One of them is binge reading the New Yorker magazine. I am almost caught up - only one issue behind!

The picture today is the latest bespoke fashion statement from Thai tailors.

    A lesson learned

    February 12 in Thailand

When you’re traveling in a foreign country and need a haircut, you should really make sure the barber understands English. Otherwise this is what will happen to you (see photo). The good news is a haircut isn’t permanent like a tattoo.

    The ultimate wedding destination

    February 14 in Thailand

If you’re looking for the very special wedding, how about a Rock Climbing Wedding Ceremony on Railay Beach in Thailand. As part of the ceremony you visit The Princess Cave for fertility. The wedding parties arrived by wooden long tail boats. The women had to hike Up their wedding dresses so they didn’t get wet.

    Koh Pha-Ngan Part 2

    August 9, 2017 in Thailand

The day after the full moon was pretty much a write off. We met back up with the nursing girls, went for a beautiful dinner then headed back to the hotel and watched a movie before going to sleep. The next day Eva convinced us to go to a water park called Slip N Fly. The main attractions are two massive slides with a steep incline at the bottom so you go flying into the air before landing in the water . After signing our lives away at the front door we watched a few people land successfully and a few not so successfully .

When Eva finally convinced/dragged me to the top of the slide a slight meltdown was had where I refused to let go of the Frenchman who was working at the top . He told us that it is actually safer to go backwards as you are then in a pencil dive position landing in the water. It might be safer, but it is way scarier!. Being the nurses we are we decided safety first so backwards we went down the slide . As soon as I went, I actually really enjoyed it - apart from a large pain in the bum when landing in the water it was actually great fun!. That evening we went to the famous Amsterdam Bar that has the best views of the sunset and watched the sun go down on our last night in Koh Pha-Ngan .

    Ein letzter Strandtag

    March 7, 2017 in Thailand

Was machen wir?
