      Kurvenrausch: Mae Sariang - Mae Hong Don

      Nach dem Frühstück verlassen wir Mae Sariang in Richtung Mae Hong Son auf sehr engen kurvigen Straßen. Wir befinden uns nun auf dem berühmten Rundkurs Nordthailands, der insgesamt 4088 Kurven zählt 😳😳😳. Auf den Weg besuchen wir den Wat Phrah That Doi Kong Mu, den ersten Tempel von Mae Hon Son. Dort kann man drei Mal die Glocke schlagen, was Glück bringen soll. Wir haben’s gemacht - schaden kann’s ja nicht 😊. Zum Lunch kehren wir dann in ein einfaches Restaurant in the middle of nowhere ein, wo uns typische Küche aus Nord Thailand serviert wird. Einfach köstlich. Ein Foto mit der Besitzerin ist obligatorisch, wir werden aufgrund unserer exotischen Größe an jeder Ecke danach gefragt 🙈. Gegen Mittag haben wir dann schon knapp 1.800 Kurven geschafft, wofür uns extra ein Zertifikat ausgestellt wurde 😳. Da haben wir was Eigenes, was zum Mitbringen…
      Der Rundkurs ist sensationell, lange Kurvenkombinationen wechseln sich mit sehr engen, scharfen Passagen ab, so wie man sie eher in den Alpen kennt. Die Qualität der Straßen ist überraschend gut, so dass wir einen tollen Feiertag haben, aber nach knapp 300 km auch ziemlich erledigt sind. Das Klima hier ist doch sehr schwül mit teilweise bis zu 35°, was die Sicht sehr diesig macht. Da vermisse ich doch glatt den klaren Fernblick vom Lago auf die Berge…
      In Pai angekommen, gibt es erst mal das obligatorische Finisher 🍻 Bier, bevor wir vor dem Abendessen noch kurz in den Swimmingpool springen. Abends steht ein köstliches lokales Restaurant am Fluss auf dem Plan.      Read more

      Nach unserer Rückkehr aus dem Nationalpark haben wir uns am Folgetag auf den Weg nach Pai gemacht.
      In Pai selbst haben wir uns einen Roller gemietet und damit Ausflüge zum Pai Canyon, der Kho Ku So Bamboo Bridge sowie zum Chedi Phra That Mae Yen unternommen. 😊
      Die im Nordwesten von Thailand gelegene Stadt hat sich in den letzten Jahren sehr zu einem Touristenhotspot entwickelt, wo es schöne Cafés und Plätze zum Entspannen gibt. ✌🏼      Read more

      Matka jatkui Pohjois-Thaimaahan, vuoriston keskellä sijaitsevaan pikkukaupunkiin nimeltä Pai. Lensimme Bangkokista Chiang Main kaupunkiin, josta nappasimme autokyydin Paihin.

      Minivan kyyti määränpäähän muistutti millaista matkanteko uusissa paikoissa voi välillä olla - jouduin kiemurtelevan reitin ja kuskin armottoman vauhdin takia pariin otteeseen helpottamaan oloa pysäyttämällä auton ja keventämällä vatsalaukkua. Vuoristorata oli 120km pitkä ja netin mukaan matkalle kertyi yhteensä 762 mutkaa - keskimäärin kurvien välillä oli matkaa siis noin 150 metriä, eikä käännökset olleet erityisen loivia.. Paluumatka olikin huomattavasti miellyttävämpi, sillä vuokrasimme mopon jolla ajoimme takaisin Chiang Maihin.

      Länsimaisia turisteja ja erityisesti juhlijoita puoleensa vetävä Pai oli energinen ja palveluiltaan laadukas paikkakunta. Tunnelma ja viidakkomainen luonto muistutti Indonesian Balia. Jatkoon siis!

      Myös Thaimaan pohjoisosissa ruoka oli herkullista, esim. paikallinen perinneruoka Khao soi (kuvassa). Lisäetuna pääkaupunki Bangkokia vieläkin halvemmat hinnat, joka tuntui välillä jopa mahdottomalta..      Read more

      So happy I decided to come to this little town. It was super cool to see a more rural and less touristy area of Thailand.

      On our 1st full day we did tipsy tubing in the river, which is exactly what it sounds like. A little difficult in the dry season when the water is so low, but it was a lot of fun.

      Um nach Pai zu kommen gab es genau eine Straße. Diese Straße war die mit Abstand kurvigste Straße die ich je gefahren bin. Das Hostel in dem wir waren war echt unfassbar da echt alle mega nett waren, der Besitzer des Hostels kostenlose Touren anbietet und selber leitet. Es war wie eine Familie und man hat sich sehr wohl gefühlt! So kam man auch an die secret spots in Pai an die man sonst nie gekommen wäre. Neben vielen Deutschen und Holländern trafen wir auch Amerikaner, Kanadier oder einen Israeli was ich sehr spannend fand, da jeder anders ist und einen anderen Grund zum reisen hat.Read more

      Solstice Hash On Tour (SHOT) #30

      Here we are in Pai, and enjoying our first SHOT weekend event. Friday night we had a brilliant reception at the Bella Villa Hotel, with loads of local favorites in food and beverage. After filling up, we had plenty of time on the dance (yard), followed by a bonfire in the light of the full moon. Soon enough, it was time to crash for the evening, to prepare for the rest of the weekend.

      Saturday, we had strict instructions to be back at the Bella Villa at 1 PM to catch our shuttle to the trail start. When we woke up, it was COLD, but we managed to get our act together. First we turned in some laundry (which if you have not already noticed, is a regular occurrence when you are traveling and running nearly every day). Finally ready to get hashing, we loaded up the songteaws and made the hour ride out to the start. Trail was amazing, through the fields and jungles of northern Thailand. The finish was atop one of the highest points in the area, where we found cold beer and good times. The circle had the usual down downs, and then the birthday people got called up. Ugghhhh, I got caked by the gang from Japan. (video provided below).       Sunday, it was another cold morning as we packed up our bags and made our way over to Bella Villa. The run actually started from the hotel, so off we went for a hangover hash that had several water crossings, farmer's fields, and even passing through a local village for the beer stop.       After making our way back to the hotel, we got a ride back to Chiang Mai with friends, and then made our way to our accommodation for the evening. After hot showers, we ventured out for dinner, and one large Pizza Hut deluxe and a couple beers, we were relaxing and watching the View season semi-finals. Time for a movie in bed, and an early morning flight back to Bangkok.      Read more

      פאי המושלמת,
      הגענו אליה אחרי מספר שעות בכביש מפותל מאוד וגילינו פנינה מבין ההרים.
      פאי היא עיירה כפרית קסומה, מהרגע שהגענו התרגשנו והתלהבנו ממנה. נהננו מהצד התיירותי שלה שהיה לנו מסעדות, בתי קפה ואפילו קצת שופינג. ומצד שני מהאותנטיות שלה והנופים המדהימים שאפשר לגלות אם קצת מסתובבים בה ומחוצה לה בקטנוע.
      דוריאני היה הנהג שלנו בשבוע האחרון ונהג מצוין ובאחריות, ציטוט של דוריאן: "אני מרגיש את ההורים שלך על הכתפיים שלי כשאני נוהג" ובהחלט היה כך ונסענו 4 על הקטנוע תמיד.
      טיילנו במפלים, בבודהה , בגשר הבמבוק, בקניון האדום ובשווקים. נסענו לתצפיות ונהננו פשוט לשבת ולנוח מול השקיעה.
      השבוע הזה היה גם השבוע האחרון שלנו עם יוני שמאוד נהננו יחד איתו.

      The first thing I can say it was one of the best times I had since I leave Germany behind me.
      Pai is such a beautiful place I wish i can stay longer but this was not the plan.

      It was good to see people again from earlier in Thailand and two guys from Nepal too, the world still feels small.
      The most time I spend with Mark and Molly, a really good time I can tell you.
      The last night in Pai was my birthday so we go out and drink allot. The next day was the last time i saw Mark so this is the end of our journey.

      The next chapter is Laos and I am really exited to see new places. 🇱🇦
      Thailand at all was a great time and I am happy to decide to come.

      Nach 2 Nächten in Chiang Mai hatte ich mich dazu entschieden, mit Motorrad alleine nach Pai zu fahren 🏍
      Die Straße zieht sich durch den Regenwald in der Bergregion, in der Pai selbst auch liegt! 🙏🏽
      Die Tour lief reibungslos, einmal habe ich kurz bei einem der kleinen Dörfer angehalten um zu tanken und mir was zu essen zu holen.
      Pai ist wie ich Chiang Mai schon beschrieben hatte, sehe Alternativ und Hipster. Das ist aber positiv zu verstehen. Sehr viele hübsche kulturelle Orte, die mit Liebe geführt werden.
      Der Ort ist sehr klein und gemütlich und zieht scheinbar die kulturinteressierten Thais des Landes an.
      Jeden Tag in mehreren Bars Livemusik, mit wirklich guten Sängern und Bands! 🎶
      Wir waren, wie immer, natürlich wieder das ein oder andere Bier trinken 🍻
      Insbesondere am ersten Tag und an Laurins Geburtstag war es intensiv 😄
      Die Leute die ich in Pai kennengelernt habe, waren alle wieder sehr cool. Die Stimmung war immer top, weil alle einfach gut drauf waren.
      Wie so oft in Thailand . . .
      Es waren tatsächlich auch mal 2 korrekte Engländerinnen dabei - nicht selbstverständlich 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿♥️
