      Tag 19 Koh Samui

      March 2, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

      Pig island

      July 12, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Ross: Today, we got breakfast and went to Pig Island. I snuggled a little tiny hog until he fell asleep. There were some bad boys who stuffed food up his nose while he was sleeping. And they tried to pull his eyelids open to wake him up. But I hissed at them, and they ran away.
Then we went back on the boat and went snorkelling. The fish were bright and colourful. We saw stripey fish, yellow fish, and the biggest sea urchins. On the way back on the boat, we sang a song called 'Big Waves, swoosh swoosh, big waves' and hid under the towels. Then me and Quinn dumped in the pool when we got back.

Quinn: We had a play in our pool and then went to the Thai restaurant. There were dancers who had big head dresses, jewellery, necklaces, and fancy dresses. We danced with them. I liked the watermelon shake, my ginger ale, the bbq corn, and the Thai version of French toffee.

      Secret buddha garden

      July 14, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 31 °C

Today, we went up into the hills to see The Secret Buddha garden. Although, as the kids said, it wasn't that secret after all as there were lots of tour groups there! It was very cool though. We saw lizards and frogs and nature had grown all around the statues.
That evening, we cycled to a restaurant called The French Kiss which had a beautiful view of Pig Island. And Quinn ate the most huge chicken!

Krabi Day 6 + Koh Samui Day 1

      February 27, 2019 in Thailand ⋅ 🌙 28 °C

I spent this morning at my hotel in Krabi where I had to try the spa tub on my balcony - of course!

After leaving the hotel around noon I got to the airport to catch my flight to the island of Samui. It only took about an hour to get there so it was a pretty short flight, but the airline was very nice and apparently voted the best in the world for domestic.

At the cute Samui airport I was met by the driver from my hotel and we drove the hour-long trip to the other side of the island. My hotel, the 5-star Conrad, is very isolated and built on a hill or cliff. Each room (including mine!) is actually a villa with its own pool!

Indeed, my villa is very luxurious and has the most amazing ocean view. After getting a drink at one of the bars I returned to my villa to watch the incredible and beautiful sunset. Just amazing!

I ended the evening with a lovely dinner - outside of course - and a nice little walk back to my villa.

      Koh Samui Day 5

      March 3, 2019 in Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Another fairly quiet day in paradise.

I started the day by munching once again on the delicious breakfast buffet at Zest. I’m normally not much of a breakfast person but when there are so many yum things to choose from, it’s hard to resist. They even have a smoothie station where they make fresh smoothies and fruit juices.

Following breakfast I spent some time by my pool - I might as well spend as much quality time as possible in this fancy villa in one of the best hotels in the world! It feels like an adventure being in a 5-star resort like this where everything is perfect. I’m quite happy I was able to save up enough Hilton points for 5 ‘free’ nights since a room is usually $1,000 per night or so.

The hotel offers a free boat excursion to a nearby island so I did that over the afternoon. The speedboat ride was fairly short but very nice, and the island where we had about an hour to spend was also lovely. There were pigs (or some derivation!) roaming about on the beach which was cute. 🐷

On the ride back we passed by the hotel and got some great photos from the sea side where you can really see how they built this thing into the hill. Very impressive. I even spotted my own villa!

Before dinner I went up on the 4th level to Aura, a small outdoor lounge/bar next to Jahn which is their premier award-winning restaurant. The sunset was also stunning from up there.

Jahn is a bit too pricey so I went back down to Azure on the 1st level for their amazing pizza. Great way to end my final evening in Koh Samui 🏝
