      Ko Lanta - Inselhopping Teil I

      Nach einem Hin & Her am Fähranleger und einer langen langsamen Fahrt, erreichten wir die Insel Ko Lanta am späten Nachmittag. Den Rest des Tages haben wir genutzt, um den nahegelegenen Klong Khong Beach auszuchecken und den Sonnenuntergang in einer der gemütlichen Strandbars zu genießen. Unsere Unterkunft lag auf einem kleinen Hügel und war absolut bezaubernd. Die Besitzerin hat uns herzlich empfangen und uns viele Tipps für die Insel gegeben. Außerdem konnten wir abends endlich mal auf unserer kleinen Terrasse sitzen, ohne von den Mücken zerstochen zu werden!

      Die Insel hat einige Strände im Süden und einige im Norden, also ging es mal wieder mit dem Roller über die hügeligen Straßen der Insel. Auf dem Weg begegneten wir einigen Affenfamilien und auch am Strand lauerten die kleinen Freunde und freuten sich über den einen oder anderen Proviant der Strandbesucher. Abends trafen wir uns dann mit unsren Limis in einer der Strandbars auf einige Mojitos. Es war herrlich die beiden wiederzusehen und sich über all die Erlebnisse seit Kambodscha auszutauschen!

      Unseren letzten Tag genossen wir an den nördlichen Stränden der Insel mit einigen Runden Bauernskat (unsere neue Leidenschaft). Abends schlenderten wir durch die Streetfoodstände und über den kleinen Nightmarket.

      Wir sind positiv überrascht, dass die Insel nicht so überlaufen ist, wie wir es erwartet haben. Es hat uns sehr gut gefallen und so machen wir uns morgen ganz mutig auf den Weg nach Ko Phi Phi und hoffen, dass wir auch dort ein paar nicht so überfüllte Strände genießen können!      Read more

      Ko Phi Phi

      Ko Phi Phi - Inselhopping Teil 2

      Bepackt mit allen Vorurteilen, die man sich vorstellen kann, kamen wir am Pier auf Ko Phi Phi an. Bei Google wird dieser als „sehr viel los“ beschrieben, allerdings fuhren zu unserem Glück gerade drei voll bepackte Fähren ab und so war gar nicht so viel los, wie wir befürchtet hatten. Auch die kleine Innenstadt der Insel war nicht so überfüllt, wie auf verschiedenen Reiseblogs beschrieben, also 1:0 für Ko Phi Phi. Angekommen in unserer Unterkunft (23€ die Nacht: für unsere Verhältnisse also schon teuer), zogen wir in ein nach Schimmelbekämpfungsmittel stinkendes Zimmer ein, das uns ganz schöne Kopfschmerzen bereitet. Nach der ersten Nacht wechselten wir das Zimmer, weil es einfach nicht zu ertragen war.

      Die Insel hat keine Straßen für Autos und Mopeds, sodass man sich entweder zu Fuß oder per Taxiboot zu den verschiedenen Stränden begeben kann. Dank unseres Kajak Traumas kletterten wir also über die Felsen zum Monkey Beach. Überraschenderweise waren wir die Einzigen, die diesen steinigen Weg wählten und die anderen Besucher staunten nicht schlecht, als sie uns auf den Felsen an der Küste sahen - war natürlich Tommys Idee. Der Monkey Beach hatte einen perfekten weißen Sand und türkises Wasser und wie der Name schon sagt, rannten dort viele kleine Affen am Strand entlang.

      Auch an unserem zweiten Tag liefen wir über kleine Wege zu den weiteren traumhaften Stränden der Insel und gönnten uns hier und da eine kleine Abkühlung im Meer - es ist nämlich unfassbar heiß hier!

      Wir haben wieder einmal gelernt, dass man nicht immer auf die Berichte anderer vertrauen sollte, sondern sich manchmal auch ein eigenes Bild machen muss! Ko Phi Phi ist nämlich aus unserer Sicht nach wie vor (zumindest in der Off-Season) eine Reise wert! 😊

      Day 6

      Vitajte v Ňaňovom domove

      Počas jazdy autom (vybavený odvoz kamoškou Ei) sa všetci ukľudníme z hektického rána a pokračujeme na loď ktorá by nás mala vziať na údajne miesto, ktoré Ňaňo nazýva svojím domovom. Že vraj sa tu lieta na mesiac, ale to už len on vie či to stojí za to. Ja vlastne ani netuším čo čakať po týmto pojmom. Hneď na začiatku nas naložia do celkom luxusného kufra auta a závezu nás pár metrov ďalej na vybetónovanú úzku cestu, ktorá vraj vedie k našim chatkám. Záhadou je, prečo stále Ňaňov kufor zoberú a všade mu ho vynesú. Nemajte strach, už mu strkám svoj kufor do rúk. Tu cestu potom hľadáme celý deň a máme problém trafiť. Sme v lese blízko vody a na celkom dobrom briežku. To najlepšie prekvapenie prichádza keď otvoríme chatku a zistíme že ubytovanie pre troch je vlastne jedna manželská posteľ. Nedosť sme sa celý čas delili dvaja o jednu perinu teraz prichádza krutá realita traja pod jednou perinou.
      Po zapožičaní motoriek, jasné že len dva kusy (ja si nezaslúžim, už teraz ľutujem ten strávený čas na polícií pri vybavovaní medzinárodného vodičského preukazu), vyrážame pozrieť priateľa Bilana na pláž.
      Zostava na motorkách: 1.motorka Tomčo a ja
      2.motorka Ňaňo a Peťa
      V duchu sa modlím aby si ich pamätal, veď sa na neho tak tešia. Dokonca aj z domácej mu Ňaňo odleje. A je to tu! Stretnutie prebieha v poriadku a Bilan je veľmi rád že sa znova vrátili. Este pár foto na net, ako reklamu a už si aj objednávame. Plaž nepôsobí úchvatné, nakoľko je odliv a je to tam sama skala. Niet čo fotiť ale zdržíme sa kôli chlapom. Jedlo je napodiv super hoc ceny Ňaňo stále ofrfle. Kde sú tie obedy za euro,hmm???Celá tá atmosféra obchodov a domovov je trochu zvláštna. Domčeky, aj pekné aj chudobné. To by až tak nevadilo ale ten bordel??? Hlavou mi chodila otázka: Nie je to škoda?
      Bilana už bolo dosť a nasleduje zatiaľ najkrajšia pláž, ktorú som videla. Pláž, kde bývali Danka a Milan na svojej dovolenke a musím uznať že tá chatka priamo na plaži, hojdačka, lehátka, hneď vedľa reštaurácia a čo je najdôležitejšie tri kroky od vody to bolo zavidenia hodné. Využívame si aj hojdačku, kde si Tomčo nájde svoj objekt na hojdanie, viď foto😀. Ňaňo zaostril na masáže a jeho plánom je ma trošku zničiť. Thajská masáž bola minulú dovolenku opisovaná ako bolestivá a teraz???Pekne sme si oddýchli a Tomčo zjednal aj cenu keďže aj tu sa akosi ceny zvýšili. Masáž bola tak ukludňujúca že Tomáš v jednom momente zachrapal a nasledoval smiech všetkých zúčastnených. Únava robí svoje.😀 Späť z pláže sme už šli traja s Ňaňom a Peťou na motorke keďže sa tu musíme správať ako Thajci.Všetky fotky v dokumente.
      Dnes sa chystáme pohľadať to, čo Ňaňo (a nie len on aj masérky hneď niečo konštatovali a ukazovali na more) zazrel. Boli sme vlastne na mieste, kde Ňaňo s Tomčom pri šnorchlovaní minulú dovolenku videli korytnačku. Tak žeby to bolo ono???
      A Peťka? Tá sa celý večer prehrala v piesku a opuch skoro zmizol tak liečbu kortikoidmi asi ukončíme predčasne.😀      Read more

      Day 12

      Day 11 - Heading South for Christmas

      Dragged ourselves out of bed at 9.00am & I popped next door for 2 Americano Frappes. There is no such thing, so I ordered a hot & an iced Americano. We sat on our balcony & had some dry doughnuts with our coffee.

      It was boiling hot already so we returned to our air conditioned room to stay cool whilst we packed. At 11.50am we checked out of our Homestay & laden down with our rucksacks we ventured out into the midday sun.

      Luckily we only had to walk 400 metres to our van pick-up point & we had an hour and a half to get there. Halfway we stopped for a beer. At 1.10pm we arrived at the van pick-up point & got mobbed by Tuk Tuk 🛺 drivers. After explaining we had a pre-booked van, they herded us to a waiting van. It turned out to be a 9 seater luxury van & we were the only 2 passengers scheduled to travel on it, so we departed immediately. Not bad for just 300 Baht each, particularly when the driver had to pay 140 Baht at a toll!

      We were soon heading south towards Makkasan Station in Bangkok on the Super Highway. During the journey we explained to our driver that we were heading for Hua Lampthong Railway Station. He told us that he couldn’t take us, but we could get a taxi. Thank you, we hadn’t thought of that!

      As we made our through the outskirts of Bangkok, our driver suddenly pulled over at the side of the road outside a petrol station & said you pay 50 Baht toll. We didn’t really know what was going on, but a taxi pulled up behind & we jumped in.

      Ten minutes later we were delivered right outside Hua Lampthong Station for just 100 Baht & the 50 Baht toll. After Jackie had picked up our tickets from an office across the road, we set up camp in a Black Canyon Coffee cafe, where we treated ourselves to a sandwich, a croissant & a coffee.

      At 4.35pm we boarded our night train for the 15 hour journey down to Trang in the south of Thailand. We had a First Class sleeper cabin that resembled a prison cell, a grey metal box that contained a seat that doubled up as 2 bunk beds, a sink with a bar of soap & a floppy table. The toilet was a hole in the ground at the end of the carriage.

      We sorted all our bits & pieces out, then with less than 15 minutes to departure, Jackie shouted “Oh shit, they didn’t give me my passport back in the ticket office”. With a volley of expletives, to the effect she had better run back to get it & Jackie saying she didn’t have time, she frantically rummaged through her document folder & found it.

      Our hearts were still racing at ten to the dozen as our train pulled out of the station at 5.06pm. We settled back for the long haul, but at 7.20pm, the steward insisted on making up our beds. We finished our bottle of Hong Thong, ate our crisps & lay down on our beds.
      It was a jerky old train ride & at gone 2.00am, I was still awake.

      Day 4

      Inselhopping Ko Phi Phi

      Gestern ging es mit der Fähre von Phuket nach PhiPhi. Die Überfahrt dauerte ca 2 h und so manche Weißhaut entpuppte sich später als Indianer 😛

      Der Empfang am Pier Phi Phi war ziemlich ungewohnt (s. Video)

      Nach erfolgreichem Check-In ging es dann auf eine wundervolle Tour mit dem Longtailboat zum Monkey 🐒 Beach, zum Schnorcheln, Maya Bay (Filmstrand von „The Beach“) und zum Sunsetbeach um dem Sonnenuntergang zu Schmachten.

      Abends stieg am Strand die fetteste Party, der ich je beiwohnte.

      Ich bin seit 2 Tagen mit ein paar Schweizern unterwegs und einer von denen ist alle 8 Wochen hier.

      Allein wäre ich vermutlich nie auf dieser Party gelandet.

      Es waren so viele Menschen, aber alle mega gut drauf und freundlich. Es wurde miteinander gefeiert, getanzt und gelacht. Punkt 1 Uhr war dann Zapfenstreich.      Read more

      Day 13

      Day 12 - Lanta Happy Hills Resort

      I had a fitful night sleep of about 2 hours, Jackie had not much more. We had a scare at 5.00am, when the train stopped & loads of passengers got off, but it wasn’t our stop.

      At 7.00am we were forced out of bed by the steward insisting he come in turn the beds back to a seat. At 8.30am we pulled into Trang Railway Station & went to a travel agent opposite to arrange our onward travels. We purchased 2 tickets for the 9.30am mini van departing from
      Trang Bus Terminal costing just 350 Baht each.

      We left our rucksacks with the ladies in the travel agent & went in search of breakfast. We ended up in the same ‘1952 Cafe’ that we visited in similar circumstances about 10 years ago. We ordered coffee & a baguette each.

      Returning to the travel agent, we boarded a Tuk Tuk to take us to Trang Bus Terminal. Before we departed, the girls insisted on taking a photo of us in the back of the Tuk Tuk, whilst Jackie held their company sign!

      The Tuk Tuk delivered us to the Ko Lanta bound mini van & checked us in....all part of the service. Not long after 9.30am we departed in a virtually full mini van for the 2.5 plus hour drive, which included a ferry ride. It was an uncomfortable ride, particularly as we were tired.

      Not long after midday, we were dropped off at our Christmas destination, Lanta Happy Hills Resort. The girl who greeted us was so lovely & provided us with lots of useful information. She didn’t actually tell us, but we suspected she & her family were Muslims......the hijabs & burkas gave it away!!!

      She kindly recommended Yawee Restaurant for lunch, which we soon discovered didn’t sell alcohol. Yawee Restaurant was very popular & we now know why, the food was excellent. I had chicken in coconut sauce & Jackie had a crispy chicken salad. There was water on the table, but we ordered a Diet Coke each, which didn’t actually arrive with our meal. When Jackie informed them, the waitress insisted we have them free. Probably put a bit of Hong Thong in them!

      After we walked the couple of minutes down to our local beach, Relax Beach. As we walked out on to the beach, the nearest bar owner shouted over to visit his bar. One of our pet hates!!! We walked along to the southern end & found a tiny sandy cove called Bamboo Beach for a swim.

      The afternoon ended with us visiting 2 bars for a beer in each, unfortunately the 2nd belonged to the shouty man & guess what it was the most expensive!

      We returned to our room, got ready & then went straight out for dinner to the sounds of the call to prayer at the local mosque. Tonight was the Mushroom Restaurant where I had a Penang Chicken curry & Jackie had chicken & cashew nuts, followed by a naughty banana pancake each.

      We were back on our balcony by 9pm. After failing to get the television working to watch the Man Utd game, we called it a night.

      Despite Booking.com showing that Lanta Happy Hills Resort is fully booked in the days after we are scheduled to check out, Jackie has already sweet-talked the young girl at reception in to letting us stay longer & (a big AND) letting us keep our room. It is in the prime location.

      PhiPhi 2.0

      Tag 2 auf Ko Phi Phi 🤗

      Diese kleine Insel hier ist landschaftlich wirklich sehr schön, sie lebt ausschließlich vom und für den Tourismus.
      Hier fahren keine Autos, die Müllbeutel werden abends von einem Roller mit Transportfunktion eingesammelt. Auch die Krankenwagen sind hier sehr kurios, aber die Funktion passt 😛

      Gestern Mittag ging es wieder aufs Boot und wir haben ein paar andere Inseln erkundet.
      Bamboo Island, Mosquito Island, ..
      Es ist einfach wirklich schön zu sehen wie die Felsen aus dem Meer herausragen und damit eine so wunderbare Landschaft entsteht 🥰
      Auch die Unterwasserwelt ist ein Traum. Ganz ganz viele bunte Fische... 😛

      Mal sehen was der Tag heute bringt , morgen geht es auf jeden Fall weiter Richtung Krabi aufs Festland.

      Weihnachtliche Stimmung kommt hier jedenfalls nicht auf, auch wenn man überall Weihnachtsoutfits kaufen kann 😆🙌🏼

      Day 14

      Day 13 - Toe Stubbing Agony

      At 9.00am, we donned our trainers & went out for a pre-breakfast jog. We run a little way along the road, then took a side road down to a beach.

      It was a eureka moment, when at the end of the road we discovered our idea of a perfect beach, a Palm Tree encircled sandy cove. It was actually the other half of Bamboo Beach we had been to the previous day.

      We ran along the Beach & headed home. Unfortunately with the tide in, we had to cross a small river. We could have just removed our trainers & paddled through it, but that would have been too easy. I wasn’t confident about jumping it, but Jackie was. Ladies first.

      It wasn’t pretty, she managed to get one foot wet on the takeoff & then land with both feet in the water, but worst still she tumbled forward on to all fours. Ending up in a similar position to someone I went fishing with!

      I was not so brave or stupid, so I took one shoe off & triple jumped it. We jogged and squelched home

      After a cold shower, there was a power cut for 8 hours we went out to Yawee Restaurant for coffee, mango & sticky rice, whilst Jackie had an enormous Club Sandwich. The food was excellent again.

      We then walked to our new found beach for some serious sun. We had a liquid lunch & more sun. Nothing could ruin the day.

      Around 4pm, Jackie asked if I would go back to the beach shack to get a bottle of water. Being the dutiful husband, I did without too much moaning, but less than 10 yards later, I kicked a buried chunk of dead coral. Flesh was hanging off the end of my middle toe of my left foot. There was blood everywhere & I was hopping around like a lunatic in absolute agony. I looked back at Jackie, only to discover she was openly laughing at me. She insisted on taking me down to the sea to wash it & presumably get attacked by a shark.

      When the pain finally subsided a little, about 2 hours later, I put on my flip flops & limped home. I can’t walk in flip flops at the best of times!

      Back at our room, I pulled off my flip flop & hobbled to the shower leaving a trail of blood in my wake. Brilliant, I am now going to be eaten alive by mosquitoes 🦟.

      That evening, I struggled out to the beach & we had spring rolls, green curry & Penang curry washed down with beer & wine to numb the pain. It was a very pleasant setting & ambiance, but the food wasn’t to the standard we have had in other restaurants on this trip.

      Phi Phi 3.0

      Gestern war der letzte Tag in PhiPhi und heute geht es mit der Fähre nach Krabi aufs Festland zurück.

      Um ehrlich zu sein, bin ich ganz froh, denn irgendwie haben wir alle Probleme mit dem Bauch.. das könnte an den schlechteren hygienischen Bedingungen hier liegen...

      Gestern Nachmittag fuhren wir ein letztes Mal zum PhiPhi Sunset und haben bei Dunkelheit Plankton-Snorkeling gemacht.
      Leider sind meine Bilder davon nichts geworden, deshalb habe ich mal ein Googlebild beigefügt...

      Hier spürt man wenig weihnachtliches Flair, obwohl es überall von roten Mützen wimmelt.

      Day 9

      Štedrý deň je v Thajsku deň ako každý in

      Môžete robiť čo chcete, ale tú atmosféru ako doma to mať nebude. A kto nedokáže mať vianoce bez tej atmosféry, tak pre neho dovolenka na vianoce v exotike 🏖🏝 naozaj nie je.

      Ráno ma prebudí pracovný email, ktorý ma dosť vydesí a v najhoršej situácii môže vyústiť do môjho okamžitého návratu ✈️na Slovensko. Nebudem to ďalej rozpisovať, ale netrpezlivo čakám na informáciu, či je potrebná moja fyzická prítomnosť pri podpise alebo nie. Nakoniec o niekoľko hodín neskôr zisťujem, že sa to dá vyriešiť aj bez mojej prítomnosti. Našťastie.

      Na našej pláži sú relatívne veľké vlny 🌊 a tak sa veľmi nekúpeme.

      Cez obed vyrážame do miestnej dediny a kupujeme nejaké šaty, suveníry a ovocie. Poobede ideme cestou do resortu a zastavíme sa v reštaurácii niečo zjesť. Neskutočne dlho čakáme na jedlo. Keď nám ho konečne donesú tak sa najeme, ale Maji a Peťke veľmi nechutí. Pre Peťku tam boli príliš veľa cibule. Každé jedlo si predstavujú totiž inak. Obrázky sú len ilustračné a ešte nikdy sa nestalo, že by obrázok zodpovedal realite.

      Neskôr Maja zahlási, že myslela, že pôjdeme na nejaku spoločnú večeru. Akože štedrú večeru. Doteraz veľmi netuším ako to malo podľa nej vyzerať, lebo kapustnicu a šalát s rybou som zabudol doma. Ja som vedel že mi niečo chýba keď som odchádzal z domu.

      Ako som písal na začiatku, ak chcete na ostrove, kde každý rezort vyzerá skoro rovnako mať štedrý deň ako doma, žiaľ nedá sa to. Na oplátku sú v ponuke iné benefity ako napríklad kúpanie v mori a stabilná teplota cca 30 stupňov.

      Deň sme zakončili sladkým dezertom v podobe vyprážaného banánu so zmrzlinou a šľahačkou a vyprážaného ananásu. Peťka si dala mango so zmrzlinou. Ja, keďže viem, že miestne zákusky z ďaleka nedosahujú slovenských kvalít som si dal 🍗chicken s cesnakom a peprom.

      Tento deň nebol dnes naozaj ničím výnimočný. Nikto žiaden úraz a na tomto ostrove ani nie sú nejaké extra atrakcie.
