      Doi Inthanon

      Ein aufregender Tag im Nationalpark im Norden Thailands. Wir durften Zeit mit einigen lieben Elefanten in einer Auffangstation verbringen. Im Gegensatz zu afrikanischen Elefanten sind die asiatischen etwas kleiner und haben kleinere Ohren. Sie zu füttern und zu baden war ein ganz besonderes Erlebnis! Anschließend sind wir auf dem höchsten Berg Thailands gewandert und haben wunderschöne Wasserfälle gesehen und darin gebadet. Da die Bauern hier aktuell viele ihrer Felder durch Brände roden ist die Luft nie ganz klar.Read more

      I took a day tour out to Doi Inthnanon National Park which is home to the highest peak in Thailand. The Thai's love coming here to take a photo next to the temperature display because most of them have never experienced temperatures this low before. It was 15 degrees at the summit.Read more

      Abkühlung im National Park Doi Inthanon

      Heute haben wir uns einen Roller gemietet und uns auf den langen Weg zum National Park Doi Inthanon gemacht. Dort gibt es nicht nur einen schönen Regenwald und mehrere Wasserfälle, sondern auch den höchsten Berg in Thailand. ⛰️🇹🇭 Wie es sich für einen Regenwald so gehört, hat es natürlich auch mal kurz geregnet als wir dort unterwegs waren. 🌧️ Durch die Höhe und den grünen, dichten Regenwald war es dort oben richtig schön kühl und die Luft war klar und frisch 😍 als wir ganz oben waren, hat sich der Himmel leider komplett zugezogen und ein Gewitter zog an uns vorbei. Wir konnten daher nur ganz kurz den grandiosen Ausblick genießen. 🌫️ Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass ich das diesen Urlaub sagen würde, aber oben war uns dann trotz Regenjacke sogar kalt 🥶 auf der Rückfahrt durften wir noch einen wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang vom Roller aus erleben. 🌄Read more

      Day 9

      Virée en montagne et cascade

      On traîne nos yeux encore endormis au "plafond de la Thaïlande", le plus haut sommet du pays : Doi Inthanon.
      Plein de choses à voir, notamment deux pagodes consacrées au 7ème Roi et à son épouse. Les deux monuments se font face dans un écrin de jardins fleuris, au cœur d'un paysage sans fin. C'est bouleversant.

      On se rend au pont culminant de la montagne. Pas grand chose à voir, à part le panneau qui nous félicite. On prend notre petite photo comme tout le monde ^^

      Ensuite c'est parti pour une des randonnées les plus connues du coin : Kew Mae Pan, 1h30/2h en pleine montagne. Le sentier commence dans la forêt et longe une cascade, avant de virer sur la flanc de la montagne où l'on découvre une mer de nuages avec la vallée tout au fond.
      Puis la descente : encore des escaliers pour Simon qui est ravi.

      Déjeuner en groupe dans un bouiboui d'autoroute, mais bonne surprise pour les petits champignons grillés.

      Pour finir le repas, rendez vous dans une baraque où on déguste 4 sortes différentes de thé, cultivées par des locaux (plus que ravis de retrouver les touristes après 2 ans de covid).

We wiiter mer ufs land chunt, desto besser wirds mit em vercher und in Thailand chan de scho chli verruckt si 🙈🙈. Mir hend bi zwei wasserfäll en halt gmacht, zum die bestune und eus chli erholä.
      Euses ziel im national park isch de höchsti punkt in Thailand mit rund 1670 m.ü.m. Zum glück isch es für eus nöd ganz e so höch und tluft isch nanig eso dünn, das mer na schnufe chan 😂😂. De Tag isch echli trüeb gsie und uf em weg ufe simmer de wulche decki immer nöcher cho. Uf em ufe weg simmer a de alag Phra Mahathat Naphamethanidon verbi cho, wo en garte und zwei glich ussehendi pagodene het. Will mer i de wulche gsie sind hemmer s panorama und die alag nöd im detail gseh, defür isch es echli mystisch gsie det obä.
      Uf em gipfel acho, simmer detä nachli go spatziere.

      Tstrasse sind teilwiis sehr steil gsie. Mir hend eus amüsiert wenn euse roller echli a sini grenze cho isch und mir mit 30 km/h de berg duruf tuckered sind.
      Bim Abefahre isch euse roller aber echli a sini grenze cho🙈🙈. Es isch sehr lang sehr steil bergab gange. Eusi vorderbrems het me und me ufkört funktioniere. Am schluss het mer sie fast ganz chöne duredrucke ohni grossi würkig 🙉🙉. Mir sind akalte und hend gmeint jetzt hemmer es riese problem 😱😱. Nach rund 20 minute isch sie aber wieder gange. Mir sind also langsam wiiter steil berag gfahre. Es het en zweite boxestop brucht, demit eusi vorderbrems wieder funktioniert het. I de underkunft acho, hemmer miteme herr vom hostel gschwätz und euses roller problem erchlärt. Er het glacht und gmeint, das segi es bekannts problem. Das passieri hüfig uf dere strecki, das bremse echli zu warm überchömmed. Mit heged aber de schlimmsti teil vom Mae Hong Son Loop gschafft und uf de wiiteri strecki segi nüme so steil. Mir sölled nach em znacht e rundi mit eusem roller go mache und luege ob alles guet isch.

      So halbe beruhigt simmer spöter go znacht esse. Mir hend en Hot Pot gesse. Das isch wie fundue chinoise in Thailändische stiel. Super fein gsie 🙂.

      Getting high in Thailand

      We took our car and drove south out of Chiang Mai to Doi Inthanon, Thailand highest peak at just 2500 meters. Luckily there is a road which goes pretty much straight to the top 😄. We thought we would be able to have a view at 360 degres at the top...but no, because trees can still grow, we were in a nice forest!
      The mountain sits inside a large national park which has some amazing nature trails and hikes ,stopping at some amazing view points and gorgeous water falls. We can now say we have officially been as high as you can get in Thailand 😉      Read more

      Wie Sie sehen, sehen Sie NIX 🤣 Doi Inthanon gehört noch zum Himalayagebirge und ist der höchste Berg und somit der höchste Punkt von ganz Thailand. Da müssen wir hin! Tja…nur manchmal sieht man einfach nur….Wolken😂 Gut, es ist wie es ist, wir waren da und die Wolken waren da und jede Menge anderer Touristen🤷 Laaangweilig…genug Zeit um Blödsinn zu machen🤪

      Jak widać, widzisz NIC 🤣 Doi Inthanon należy do Himalajów i jest najwyższą górą, a zatem najwyższym punktem w całej Tajlandii. Musimy tam pojechać! No cóż… tylko czasami tak po prostu widać…chmury😂 No, jest tak jest, my tam byliśmy i były chmury i mnóstwo innych turystów🤷 Nudne… dość czasu na bzdury🤪

      Getting high in Thailand part2

      We stayed overnight close to the National Park and following a quick breakfast we drove back in to see the King and Queen Pagodas (where we learnt Buddha's story), Thailand's highest waterfall and a walk along side the Klang river passing more waterfalls and ending at a small tribal village which has reinvented itself from an opium den to a coffee lover paradise. We had a local guide join us for the walk and pointed out all the edible plants as well as the local wildlife.

      Another day trip today, this time to explore some of Doi Inthanon National Park, the highest mountain in Thailand. It was another early start which involved a spectacular fall down the stairs in the hotel by yours truly.

      Our day started off with a 2 hour hike along the Kiw Mae Pan Trail which gave us breathtaking views of the national park. At points we were above the clouds which was pretty magical. To walk through the park, you have to pay a local guide who accompanies you on the trek. Our guide was Mr Chicken who wore the most spectualar blue glittery disco pants! Our main tour guide (not Mr Chicken) was a fountain of knowledge, telling us all about the National Park, Thailand and the local hill tribes. I can't remember his name but he was lots of fun and was happy for us to take our time taking pictures which was great! We also completely lucked out on our group. Everyone was really friendly and didn't stop chatting throughout the whole hike, including a girl who used to live down the road from us in Bedminster!

      At the end of the walk we jumped back in the minibus to the highest point in Thailand. You were unable to see any views from here so it was more of a photo op than anything else, of which our guide was very obliging. It was then off to see the King and Queen Pagoda's which were built for the King and Queen of Thailand's 60th birthdays.

      Lunch was served in a hill tribe village of the Karen people. When you think of the Karen people you think of the long necks where women wear numerous hooped necklaces which gives them their name. There are however 4 different types of Karen people and the long necks are the newest of the tribes, moving over from Burma in the last 5 years purely for the tourist trade. The village we visited was more traditional which was really nice. There was also loads of cute little piglets and baby chicks running around too!

      After lunch we checked out the Wachiratham Waterfall beforw heading back to Chiang Mai. After a long day we were pretty pooped so found a nice vegetarian restaurant for dinner before heading back to the hotel.      Read more
