    Chiang Mai

    October 19, 2015 in Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

The city of Chiang Mai, a hill station, also known as the capital of the north of Thailand.

Ancient Buddhist temples everywhere! Too many to count. If you like culture, visit them all! You won't have the time though. There are too many.

If you like nature, go to Bua Tong Waterfall and see the unique limestone stream bed. Be careful as it is slippery. Its source is from a geyser call Nam Phu Chet Si. On the way back, stop by at Huay Thung Thao lake and relax for a bit. Sit in the little huts and enjoy the lazy afternoon.

Doi Inthanon National Park is a must see in Chiang Mai. The temples are surrounded by colourful gardens high up on a hill.

If you want authentic Thai food, go to Chiang Mai Gate Market. Try the mango with rice pudding. They are everywhere. A local delicacy.
Like smoothies? Try Pa's Smoothies. Her stall is right opposite the 7 Eleven. Tell her to whip something up for you. I went there twice the same night. It was to die for!

A fun fact. There is a Grand Canyon here. Its called Grand Canyon@Chiang Mai. Yea I know, how original right. You can cliff dive here if you are into that sort of thing, or you can sit at the cafe and have a drink while enjoying the view.

Chiang Mai, to me, has more than meets the eye. Or maybe my expectations are too low. Either way, it was a good experience.
