      Marmaris

      Marmaris, Hauptstadt der gleichnamigen Region. Wieder einmal war der Weg dorthin sehr schön und die Stadt, naja. Die Hotels dort ziehen ein Klientel an, das uns so gar nicht (mehr) zusagt, man hat fast das Gefühl in Malle am Ballermann zu sein. Die Promenade besteht nahezu ausschließlich aus Partybooten, die die feierwütige Horden in die schönen Buchten der Region Fahren. Vom fotografierten Davy Jones Boot gibt es gleich eine ganze Flotte, hier passt der Filmtitel zum Programm, Fluch der Karibik 😋.
      Zu den letzten Bildern, vor ein paar Jahren gab es einen Waldbrand, der grosse Teile der schönen und dichten Wälder zerstört hat. Unterwegs sind wir in den letzten Tagen immer wieder durch kilometerlange Abschnitte gefahren, die kahl oder verbrannt waren. Von Einheimischen haben wir erfahren, dass sämtliche Hügel davor noch dicht bewaldet waren.

      Marmaris, aynı adı taşıyan bölgenin başkenti. Bir kez daha, oraya giden yol çok güzeldi ve şehir yanı... Oradaki oteller bize (artık) hiç hitap etmeyen bir müşteri kitlesini çekiyor, neredeyse Malle'deki Ballermann'da olduğunuz hissine kapılıyorsunuz. Gezinti yolu neredeyse sadece partiye aç kalabalıkları bölgenin güzel koylarına götüren parti teknelerinden oluşuyor. Fotoğrafı çekilen Davy Jones teknesinin bütün bir filosu var ve filmin adı buradaki programa uyuyor, Karayip Korsanları 😋.
      Son fotoğraflara gelince, birkaç yıl önce güzel ve sık ormanların büyük bölümünü yok eden bir orman yangını oldu. Yolda, son birkaç gün içinde, defalarca çıplak veya yanmış kilometrelerce uzunluktaki bölümlerden geçtik. Yerel halktan öğrendiğimize göre daha önce tüm tepeler hala yoğun bir şekilde ormanlıkmış.      Read more

      Es hilft ja alles nichts, aber irgendwann brauche ich eine Waschmaschine.
      Nachdem Frauke und Michael mich gestern schnöde verlassen haben - war eine geile Zeit mit euch - habe ich mich heute auf den Weg nach Marmaris gemacht, weil es hier eine Wäscherei gibt, die auch Sonntags geöffnet haben soll. Gut, das ist nicht ganz korrekt, denn um 17.15 hatte sie zu, aber egal. Ich stehe dann morgen um 10.00 da vor der Tür.
      Parken ist etwas schwierig. Ich habe zwar versucht, mich in die Marina zu schleichen, aber die wollten mich nicht. Zumindest durfte ich umdrehen.
      Jetzt also der PKW Parkplatz. Nicht wirklich kompatibel mit meinem Wagen und ich hoffe mal, das es hier leerer ist, wenn ich morgen wieder weg will. Wir werden sehen
      Neben dem Parkplatz ist ein Vergnügungdpark ua mit einer Schiffschaukel. Laut, sehr laut...

      Wieder Erwarten tief und fest geschlafen. Noch schnell geduscht, alles an Klamotten eingesammelt und zur Wäscherei. Auch da muß man feilschen. Ich hab ihn dann von morgen auf heute 14.00 gedrückt. Mehr ging nicht. Bin mal gespannt, ob die Wäsche dann auch wirklich fertig ist. - war sie

      So komme ich vermutlich früh genug los, um mir ein Plätchen für das angesagte Regen- und Sturmwetter zu suchen.      Read more

      Caunus et Marmaris

      Ce matin, on est réveillé par le bruit d'un bateau qui vient chercher des touristes sur notre petit ponton. On prend le petit déjeuner face au lac. Un couple de petits vieux venus travailler au champs juste à côté nous offre une pastèque et une énorme courgette. Les Turques sont vraiment adorables ❤️
      On poursuit la route jusqu'à Caunus dont on a du mal à trouver l'entrée. Le site a été occupé du Xème siècle avant JC et a été définitivement abandonné au XVème siècle de notre ère ! Les ruines des différents édifices s'organisent sur différents niveaux dans un décors lacustre à l'embouchure de la rivière. On y découvre des tombeaux rupestres, un théâtre, une église byzantine, des thermes, une agora.... Et une carapace de tortue !!! Ce qui intéresse beaucoup Dizzy 😁
      On repart ensuite en direction de Marmaris. On se promène le long de sa Marina où sont amarrés des yachts de luxes. On fait quelques emplettes. On trouve un spot un peu plus loin au bord de l'eau avec quelques pêcheurs avant la pluie.      Read more

      Beautiful city of Marmaris

      Marmaris was more peaceful and enjoyable than Bodrum. Lots of beautiful corners in the old city, we really didn’t expect it to be this nice. The Grand Bazar has everything, including a wide variety of spice and plants - including ginseng root. We had a lovely walk here.

      Before leaving we had some corn on the green space near the marina, where we parked our bike. We also covered up a bit more, as the sun was really burning hot during the previous days.

      Day 3, Marmaris, Turkey

      It was an 8am Dock in to Marmaris this morning via a narrow channel. My good lady decided it was a good idea to set the alarm so we could go on deck and watch us sail in and dock. 6.45am when the alarm went off, doh was it really a good idea?

      The sun was shining and it was a beautiful morning, we went to the front of the ship as we glided in to Marmaris. We entered the bay from the ocean and we glided in with a very calm approach. Once docked we decided to have breakfast part 1 in the buffet as it was fairly quiet and the sun was shining. The food is very nice on board and the bacon is proper English stuff none of the American crossled streaky stuff so I make sure I take advantage of that.

      We disembarked the ship and had a walk into the town. We got a bit of WiFi at the port so stopped to catch up on emails and send a couple of texts (this will be late due to no data but I posted it as soon as I could). The walk to the town was lovely down the harbour and it was quite modern. Lots of restaurants and bars. The town itself was slap quite nice and there was lots to see. Sharon did a bit of shopping and I just tagged along as you do.

      As we walked back to the ship, the sunshine decided to do one and the heavens opened. It absolutely threw it down, so we stopped off in a bar and had a drink and a Turkish Kebab. The guy who ran the bar was really funny and very personable. We spent a good hour or so there before deciding it was that black, it wasn’t going to stop raining. So off we went, the last time I felt that wet was in Malta with our Naomi when we went to watch a bloke who was in the sea, we were no help, he didn’t drown but we stood out in the rain watching him. Well I was just as wet when I got back to the ship today. We hung all our clothes up in the bathroom and my trainers are so wet I don’t think they’ll dry out for days, same for Sharon.

      So only one thing to really, go get a drink and some food !! It’s a good job there’s 2 flights of stairs to the food and a fair bit of walking around as we seem to do nothing but eat. An hour later and the sun was out and it was beautiful, so we went and sat at the back of the ship and watched the sun go down. Still some very thick black clouds around though. We departed Marmaris at 5pm heading for Heraklion in Crete where we should dock around 8am Saturday morning. We’ll not mention the weather forecast !!

      Captains gala night tonight which was quite nice, a chance to meet the senior staff members and yet a few more drinks followed by Christmas dinner in the restaurant. So not to shabby an evening. 2 metre swell forecast tonight so a bit choppy but nothing to major.      Read more

      Der Küstenort Marmaris wäre einer dieser Orte gewesen, welchen wir mit Inselhopping von der Küste Griechenlands aus erreicht hätten; jetzt sind wir halt mit dem Bus dort angekommen. Neben einer Strandpromenade spazieren wir auch durch die verwinkelte Altstadt und schauen uns die kleine Burg an, die umgeben vom Hafen ins Meer hinaus sticht. Der Ort scheint in der Hochsaison sehr beliebt bei russischen Touristen zu sein, denn wir sehen viele Restaurants und Ausflugsboote, deren Text neben Türkisch und Englisch auch auf Russisch übersetzt ist. Kümmert uns aber nicht, denn viel scheint von den Touristenmassen nicht übrig zu sein.

      Wie auch andernorts in der Türkei sehen wir das Portrait von Mustafa Kemal Atatürk an Hauswänden, in Geschäften und Restaurants. Der Gründer und erste Präsident der Republik Türkei scheint beim Volk sehr beliebt zu sein. Sein Autogramm (und manchmal auch sein ganzes Abbild) ist sogar auf vielen Autohecks und Rollern aufgeklebt. Jeweils am 10. November jährt sich sein Todestag, weshalb an seinen Statuen und Büsten heute auch noch einiges an Blumenschmuck aufliegt.      Read more

      Mit Marmaris haben wir heute einen der größten Ferienorte des Landes in der südlichen Ägäis angelaufen. Bei einem Spaziergang durch die beschauliche Festungsanlage und das umgebende Wohn- und Geschäftsviertel haben wir einen guten Überblick über das Stadtzentrum und den Hafen bekommen. An der Küste regnet es in den Sommermonaten kaum, dennoch sind die Stadt un die Umgebung stets grün, da sich am nahen Taurus Gebirge die Wolken stets abregnen und so für ausreichend Feuchtigkeit und gute Wasservorräte sorgen. In einem Restaurant am Hafen haben wir köstliche Meeresfrüchte und Salat gegessen.Read more
