    Bodmin Goal (Jail), Bodmin, England

    July 8, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Shortly before the trip I learned that my GG Grandfather (Robert Wonnacott) had been incarcerated here at the age of 14 in 1865. It didn't take much for the poorer classes to end up here at that time we learned. I was able to see what is left of the cell block he would have been in.Read more

    Lanhydrock

    April 9, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

    What a washout.

    July 11 in the United Kingdom ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

Well today was a complete washout in more ways than one. From the moment we got up it rained all day, I was okay I have my trusty Kindle and the Wimbledon final is on this afternoon and I've got a Cream Tea to have while I watch it. Martin on the other hand is getting itchy feet so early afternoon gets himself togged up in waterproofs and walking boots and with trusty stick in hand sets out for a walk along the Coastal path to Portscatho. Very wet and very muddy but great views and super beaches even in the crappy weather. Made it to Porthcatho and a coffee while waiting for the bus to get me back home. Glad I made the effort but the weather this holiday is getting us down.Read more

What a shame, but as you say lovely views despite the rain and Martin's still smiling! I had strawberries for the final and a cold presse dri k as I had to drive to go for/take back m.mom. Love the little harbour and the bay looks really welcoming (on a sunny day!) Enjoy your pasties xx [Fi & Mark]

The Borough Arms Restaurant, Dunmere, UK

    July 7, 2018 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

The dining room at our hotel was closed when we got there so they sent us to the local pub. It was a very busy place as a wedding was being celebrated there as well that night.
