      Bourton on the Water

      July 22, 2018 in England ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Arrived Sunday for a three night stay at a site at Clapton on the Hill
Fantastic adult only site - quite unique in its layout and totally peaceful. Many pitches were separated by tall elephant grass, with pathways through to reach the well kept facilities.
Hottest day of the year so far, so we thought it neat to cycle to Stow on the Wold only a few miles away via Bourton and some serious hills. Bourton and Stow are beautiful places filled with tourists at this time of year. There were lots of children and dogs playing in the water.
Had a nice tea and cake in Huffins at Stow - the cream roulade nearly but not quite up to Hutton le Hole cake standard.
Big hills on way back too - arrived back at site like pots of glue and desperately in need of a cool shower.
Following day we walked down to Sherbourne and the Estate made famous on BBC Springwatch - apparently the BBC have 140 people there to cover the show which accounts for them seeing a lot of wild life and us very little. It was baking hot so that may have something to do with it but all we saw was lambs, sheep and cattle which were all clever enough to find the shade.
We walked through the park and across the meadows but decided it was too hot to go the extra mile to the bird hide.
