Welcome back - endlich wird wieder gereist! Wir sind heute zu unseren Flitterwochen 2.0 aufgebrochen (danke nochmal an Janina und Adrian 😬😍). Nach einem entspannten Flug sind wir heute Nachmittag in London angekommen. Unser Hotel liegt etwas außerhalb in East Croydon. Nach dem Einchecken sind wir zu einem sehr netten Streetfood Market gegangen und haben etwas gegessen. Danach haben wir dann einen kleinen Rundgang durch Croydon gemacht. Wir haben uns die Croydon Minster beim Sonnenuntergang und den Clock Tower angeguckt.Read more

We made it to London and have been having so much fun. Hard to find WiFi here but we get it when we can. Here are pictures of the customs line at the airport, and then us at the friends front door where we are staying when we got here...then a picture of one of her boys and then the 3 of us hanging out late at night after the meeting! All 3 boys, lots of fun and always on the trampoline and wanting us to jump haha... Hopefully going to see some sights soon! I have no idea why that photo is upside down ??Read more

Today we attended Oak Hall Church near Purley where we are staying. This church has just moved into a new multi purpose building which also has three apartments on the top story for it's staff. In the afternoon we walked around the paddocks near Andrew and Jenny's house, enjoyed the summer flowers and found or all about the "chalk downs" which this part of England is famous for. We also walked on the old Roman road which was the main road London to Brighton. Andrew and Jenny's house is right on the paddocks where this ancient road is located.Read more

The queue and Wimbledon!

It was a 5am wake up today and we were off to catch the first tube to Wimbledon. There was a crowd of people on the first train and when we joined the queue at 6:45am we were given our ticket number, 5864! We spent 5.5hours in a traditional English queue, where we napped, went shopping and waited and waited. Grace and I finally made it through with tickets about midday! What a relief!! We headed to court 16 to watch an Aussie playing great tennis in a four setter. We then found some Pimms and strawberries and cream. How very English! We looked at the pretty floral displays, the smaller hit up courts and the TV Hill viewing area. Most people attending were very dressed up. We stayed until around 8pm before catching the tube to meet Jake in Shoreditch. Mary Roubos popped in to say hello and we ate a big meal of slow cooked meats at a place called Blues Kitchen which is very trendy. We couldn't get a table until 9:30pm on a Monday night!Read more

We broke camp in Wooler at around 9am and headed to Coldingham Bay and St Abb’s Head. However, due to the high winds, we did not attempt a cliff-top walk! Instead we drove up the road to St Abb’s Head aspiring the scenery and observing lots of sheep and lambs. From there we drove to Eyemouth and walked around the very busy working harbour. There were lots of huge container trucks obviously containing lots of fish. We wondered where it all ends up and how much of it gets exported. A harbour-side cafe serving fresh fish would have been nice but no such luck!

We then drove on to Chain Bridge Honey Farm where we enjoyed tea and cake, visited the shop and visitor centre which was very informative re all things bee related! We then walked to the Chain Bridge which is an early 19th century suspension bridge. After that we drove to The Barn at Beal and pitched camp, directly overlooking Holy Island. We walked about a mile or so to the beginning to the causeway. Unfortunately the tide was not in our favour to allow us to drive over to Lindisfarne. However, the views were spectacular. The sun was shining but it was blowing a gale!

In the evening we had a great time at The Bothy Bar at The Barn at Beal and shared a magnificent seafood platter while looking out at the wonderful view across to Holy Island.Read more

I’ve always wanted to go to the Honey Farm! Sounds like you’ve had a good holiday and have been lucky with the weather, apart from the winds.
