London, baby - Part 2
September 7 in England ⋅ ☁️ 64 °FToday was an extremely busy day, so there is a part 2. Ask me what we DIDN'T see today! 😅 After our quick bite, we walked the city and saw many beautiful buildings and architecture and then we came upon the Big Ben! It is so grand and gorgeous up close. From there, we walked along the Thames and saw the Eye of London, a very large ferris wheel that you can get on and see the sights from above. We stayed on land and continued to Borough Market. We had a hard time trying to find transportation to there and we did NOT want to walk the 45 minutes to get there. We found a nice gentleman who was able to direct us to the right bus to Borough Market. We walked in with high anticipation and hungry tummies only to find that it JUST closed 5 minutes before we got there. We were disappointed but kept on and found a very populated restaurant right on the Thames called Nicholson's Pub and had an absolutely delicious and traditional English meal. For starters, we got fish and chips, "chunky chips," (fries with melted cheese and shredded brisket on top), and the famous Scotch Egg. It was all delicious. And for the main course, we got a lamb shank shepard's pie smorthered in gravy, which was so rich and creamy. From there, we continued our journey towards the London Bridge and the Tower Bridge. The London Bridge was so unremarkable that we didn't even realize that it was the famous London Bridge (and no, it was not falling down 😅). On the other hand, Tower Bridge was so astonishing and large. We walked the bridge and got a treat of being able to watch it become a drawbridge, which provided clearance for a very tall ship to pass underneath. It was truly the icing on the cake to be able to experience that. It was such a spectacle that many people gathered to watch it and we all stood in silence as it was happening. From there, we headed back to our hotel after a 9 (!!) hour day trip for a well-deserved sleep! Tomorrow, wake up is at 5am!Read more
