können wir aufgrund der vorgerückten Stunde nur noch von außen besichtigen. Hier in Südwestengland schließt alles zwischen 16:30 und 17 Uhr. Da wird einem erst mal wieder deutlich, welch paradiesische Öffnungszeiten Deutschland zu bieten hat.
Die Außenansicht und die Lage waren jedoch alleine schon den Besuch wert. Außerdem treffen wir hier ein britisches Paar, dass uns einen Inn für das Abendessen empfiehlt,Read more

St Mawes Church

The name of the village of St Mawes comes from Saint Maudez, a Breton saint. There was a chapel here dedicated to him. We know it existed in the early 1400s, and it remained in use until the reign of Elizabeth I when it was abandoned. From that time until 1884, there was no chapel for the people of St Mawes.

The new church was opened by the Bishop of Truro Dr George Wilkinson. It was built in the simple Early English style and consists of a chancel, nave, porch, and bell turret. It was built of local stone with facings of St Stephen’s granite.

As I walked around, I was struck by the glorious sunshine streaming in through the simple stained glass windows - beautiful!

Bus from St. Mawes to Treloan

From the church, we caught the bus 🚌 back to the campsite. We sat at the front on the top deck, so we had the best view when we had to wait for a tractor 🚜 rally to pass by! The parade lasted a full five minutes!!Read more

St Mawes to Falmouth ferry

On what would have been my Dad's 83rd birthday, we were up early yo catch the 8.59am bus back to St Mawes. We were getting the St Mawes to Falmouth ferry ⛴️ to explore the other side of the water. We had intended to visit the National Trust gardens at Glendurgan and Pendennis Castle 🏰 while we were over there, but found out that both are closed on a Monday!!

Regardless, we decided to go to Falmouth anyway.

It was another bright, sunny 🌞 morning, but rather cold 🥶 out on the water! We were the only passengers on the Duchess of Cornwall ferry, so we're able to move around the boat 🚢 taking photos 📸 during the 25-minute crossing.Read more
