      Semifinals Day 1

      June 10 in England ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

      May 4 in England ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

      Another travelling day.
The changeover at Doha was seamless, with brilliant and very helpful assistance for Karen and myself between terminals.
Arriving back at Heathrow things were less well organised - fiasco is the word for the comical organisation of the care for disabled travellers. We then had a very slow trip in a taxi around the North circular to just arrive in time for A to pick up Magnus from school club and the girls from nursery - all done in the pouring rain.
Magnus his usual exuberant self and Jemima and Mary took to us very quickly once again.
      How lucky are we?

      April 19, 2019 in England ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Trip to London to see Stewart, Emily, Magnus and Jemima.
Great to see them in glorious sunshine.
We spent a nice afternoon wandering through Hackney Marshes and along the Lee Navigation
On Saturday, after an early visit to Walthamstow market we took the underground and overground trains to Hampstead Heath for a picnic.
The Heath was looking magnificent and was busy with people sunning themselves.
Magnus had his bike and enjoyed smashing down the hills, but was not so keen to have to push it back up through the long grass. Jemima smiled and chortled through the day.
We were joined by Rosie in the evening and enjoyed a bbq in the garden.
On Sunday we had a lazy morning followed by an early afternoon bbq - Sea bass and prawns

Looking forward to seeing you sometime. We are in Minorca. Long story. Get the girls to tell you. We get back late 27th. Let me know your plans xx

Lovely pics - see youngster in training for later BBQ duties! Also Alan being challenged by a kit of some sort. See you Friday, just hoping Pam perks up a bit by by then, pleurisy proving a bit of a challenge.

    • Day424

      July 22, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

We left the Festival Monday morning having waved Liz and Mike off just before we departed.
We had a long and tedious journey to Walthamstow due to heavy traffic and somebody having stolen a diversion sign which meant we almost returned to where we started after 90 minutes on the road.
A quiet evening in Lee Valley campsite, followed by a week in Walthamstow with Stew, Em, Magnus and Jemima. Delivery of belated birthday presents to Jemima followed by an early party for Magnus who will be 5 next month.
Mixed weather from very hot on our arrival to wet and cool then back to hot over the week.
On Wednesday after a morning trip into the high street for provisions we walked to the City Farm in the afternoon. Magnus vey competent on his new bike. The cafe was shut so ice creams were enjoyed once back home, Jemima very much enjoyed hers.
Thursday saw us borrow the car for a trip to Winchester for dentist and physio. AN absolute scorcher of a day- temperature in car recorded 46degrees at one point!!!
On Friday we walked over to LLoyd park where Magnus enjoyed the bmx/skateboard facility and where we noticed the Summer Beach Fair ground.
In the evening we went into the old village to celebrate our 39th wedding aniversary at The Village for a drink and The Castle for a bite to eat.
Saturday was party day for Magnus with some friends invited for the afternoon, decibel levels were high.
On Sunday we chilled, had a great mid day meal then took a walk in the Hackney Marshes. Blackberries were ripe and plentiful.
On Monday we took M and J to the Summer Beach fair ground where we enjoyed a few hours prior to us returning to our motorhome in mid afternoon.

I’m so sorry about that extra 90 mins. How mean.

      December 22, 2019 in England ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

A joyful day - Magnus phoned to advise us that he now had another little sister, born overnight at home - and he had already had a cuddle.
We travelled round to see our new grandchild for a couple of hours and to offer our congratulations.
Mary Margaret Lewis Maclean, 7lb 8 oz at birth and we met her at 9 hours old. Magnus was quite proud to show off his little sister, but Jemima seemed disinterested! Much more interested in sweeping up and pretending to make a cup of tea!!!!
We returned mid afternoon to Chertsey with our week's planning changed. Now that baby has arrived we will be joining Christmas Day celebrations in Walthamstow, along with Emily's parents and brother. It will be a lively day for sure - very much looking forward to it.

      August 27, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

We travelled back to Walthamstow to assist Stewart and Emily with Grand parenting duties whilst they were at work.
On Wednesday we took M and J to Legoland at Windsor, a most enjoyable day if you like queuing, which M and J did not seem to mind at all. The weather was fantastic and we were able to spend a full 7 hours there. Magnus greatly enjoyed the rides particularly the submarine adventure to Atlantis, Jemima was also very excited by the sharks in the underwater scene. Karen greatly enjoyed the fairy tale boat ride which she enjoyed every bit as much as the children. Two tired children on our return in the evening.
On Thursday we had a day in the city. We enjoyed our walk along the south bank and through the royal parks - St James', Green Park and Hyde Park - before meandering down Oxford Street (obligatory 15 minute stop at M and S) to BBC Television Centre where Stewart gave us a quick guided tour of the building, news room, studios, etc.. Had a short chat to Kirsty Wark who was preparing for the night's show. Finished of with a great meal at Gokyuzu in Walthamstow. Two tired grand parents returned to base.
Friday and Saturday saw us looking after M and J again as S and M travelled to a wedding, staying overnight in Oxford. Trips to park, high street and city farm, ice cream van etc..
Sunday saw M and S return and we enjoyed an evening bbq in the garden

How interesting! And am so glad Gokyuzu survived the fire tho I doubt I’ll ever go again.

    • Day1484

      June 16 in England ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

We arrived in Walthamstow in good time to be able to pick the children up from Nursery and School. Emily managed to get off to Heathrow in early evening to be joined by Stewart after he had finished Newsnight. They were travelling to Provence to attend the wedding of a good friend they had met in Johannesburg.
We had a great weekend with the children, taking them to the park and to the shops and the library. On Saturday there was a Jumble Trail on Stewart's street. Mary took a shine to a cuddly monkey which she has called "A hA" (as in the noise a monkey makes!!!) and now travels with her everywhere.
On Sunday we took the car out to Epping Forest where we were enjoying a picnic until a loose dog stole and ate Karen's lunch. The dog owner did not seem to appreciate why it was an unacceptable thing to occur- they could not control their dog because they had not brought the lead and seemed surprised that we could not see that that was acceptable.
On Monday Stewart took the children to nursery and Magnus to school. It was the school sports day so we went along for the morning to watch. We were most impressed with the attitude of the children, their behaviour and the respect shown to all in the school. Magnus threw himself whole-heartedly into every activity and clearly enjoyed it all.
