      On the road again

      September 16, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

Sad to leave. It's been a busy week. Working with my sister Laurie to make some changes in mom's care. Visiting with old friend Richard from high school days. Finally taking the plunge to attend our first tango milonga dance with my sister Bonnie. What a dancer! Sorry I can't show videos on this blog.

Got our flu shot and a bottle of Kentucky Buffalo Trace bourbon at a reasonable regional price. We are ready for eggnog when we get back in December. We were taken out for a beautiful lunch by Casey and Donna who watch out for the family finances. We managed to fit in a few cozy meals and movies with Laurie and John along with much conversation.

The week is over too soon but we hope to pass through again briefly before heading for the Gulf Coast. Now we are en route to Cherokee Nirth Carolina where we will plan the next leg of our trip.

      January 30, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 32 °F

Sorry for the lack of posts, but we have been relaxing. My kidney is fine, which is the reason we returned to Atlanta. But the Towles took such good care of us we found it difficult to leave. But this morning we are off to Pensicola.Read more

      Day before our flight

      March 5, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 37 °F

      Are we nervous?

Sorry about our prolonged silence. Honestly ... one might think since we've been on the road for 3 months, we would be already half packed and ready to go. But there were a ZILLIION details to take care of and flights and car reservations were only the beginning.

As you can see, we purchased some LOVELY suitcases from Target. The large one promises to hold enough for a 3-5 day trip. The smaller one, just 2 days. This time we took to heart the admonition to pack what you think you will need and cut it in half.

I know you might not believe it, but we've experienced a lot of trepidation and nervousness. We wonder if we still have what it takes for spontaneous foreign travel. What if we're too old? What if the beds are too uncomfortable? What if we can't find some product we ALWAYS use? Perhaps this is an indication that we need to move further out of our comfort zone.

Yesterday we dropped our trailer off in a storage place 45 minutes north of here. This morning, I am feeling annoyed that I have to wear (and hence get dirty) clothes from my suitcase. If this is what I'm reduced to worrying about, we may be just about ready.

Rest in Marietta with Laurie and John

      May 20, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 61 °F

A couple days of rest and relaxation with Heather's sister and her husband. And as a special bonus our nephew Matthew as therealso.

Oh ... and we had had a discussion before arriving that we needed to do laundry before we arrived, because Gordon has a big reputation for monopolizing the washer and dryer from dawn to dusk. Heather appears to get off scott free, even though half the laundry is hers. But we REALLY didn't want Laurie and John to think we were just dropping in to use the facilities. We had time to do laundry in Eureka Springs, but it was SO DANGED WET AND HUMID we were afraid nothing would dry. We might have tried in Tupelo, but it was the tiniest danged laundry room we ever saw. So we resolved to buck it up and just go naked if we had to, but we were NOT going to do laundry at Laurie and John's.

Fortunately for us, we apparently underestimated the entertainment value of our monopolizing the laundry facilities while visiting. Once we understood, we dived in, narrowly avoiding the bare-all strategy. A good time and many guffaws was had by all.
