John Lovaas What is Tuskegee area like? Has anyone written the story of the airmen after the war?
Traveler There are apparently two Tuskegees. One primarily African American around the institute and a mostly white town of Tuskegee a few miles away which we did not visit. Economic status hard to gauge. Plenty of books on Tuskegee airmen. They sparked integration of the military by Truman.
John Lovaas I meant what became of them as individuals after their wartime experience.
Traveler Judging from the interviews in the visitor center film, many made the military a career. One became the first African American four-star general.
