    September 30, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

I got up early, mostly so I didn't get towed, and headed over to Hershey world. Both Carrie and Mike warned me that I would most like be disappointed and they were totally right. It was a lame ride that told you how chocolate was made. I was liking forward to seeing the factory. I got my free candy and headed out.Read more

    On my jog

    September 30, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

These are some of my sights along the river before I started to jog. Another 3 miles because I feel like I'm eating so much on the road. My hosts was super nice when I got back. They treated me to an early birthday dinner.Read more

    The capital

    September 30, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

I visited the state capital. It prides itself on quoting Teddy Roosevelt that " it is the most handsome building I have ever seen." The artwork inside is immaculate and I'm kicking myself in the butt for not getting a better picture of this one particular painting that they pointed out.Read more

    My birthday

    October 1, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

I didn't take this pic obviously, but on my drive out I did manage to see this fake 25 foot tall statute of liberty. I made sure to get my free meal at Denny's. I treated myself to a little shopping and then my free sub at Subway. Finally I made it to Pittsburgh to meet my host Mike.Read more

End of Day 22 - Harrisburg, PA

    July 8, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

    Day 22 Miles: 436.3
    Total Miles: 5,348.5
    States: 18
    Countries: 2

We drove through five states today, but have already counted them in our total on the way out. They were Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania. So our state total stays at 18. Tomorrow will bring a few more.

No great picture for this post. The Clarion Inn (part of the Choice network, the Comfort Inn probably being the most recognizable name) was unremarkable.

There was baseball going on somewhere nearby. The place was crawling with what looked like 8-10 year olds. I don't think they were 12's or part of the Little League World Series. Williamsport is around an hour and a half away.

Harrisburg is also a bit unremarkable, but that is not uncommon for a state capital. Boston is an example of a state capital that has panache. Harrisburg seems more like Sacramento. No matter, time to rest. 😊

    Day 23 - A Long Drive Day

    July 9, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We don't have much planned for today. Our goal is to get close to The Great Smoky Mountain National Park and then head to Nashville. The closer we get, the more time we have.

I thought The Clarion Inn was crappy. Jenn thinks I am being to harsh, and I probably am. It was like a bad copy of a decent budget-ish hotel, like The Comfort Inn. Things were not terrible, but everything just seemed off. The WiFi sucked (not uncommon), it seemed a little dirtier, didn't smell fresh (but nothing bad) and breakfast was subpar. All first world problems, to be sure. The coffee was burned. Enough said. 😉

We stopped at Starbucks before we hit the road. Thank goodness. ☕️

    Hershey, PA

    August 16, 2013 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

    Geo: 40.4384, -79.9976

    Weather 73 cloudy

We are on our way home. We have spent the last couple of days of our trip with some peeps we love, the Ghilanis. Nice place to relax, play and laugh. I love listening to Pat, Barb and Paul talk. They crack me up. We spent two nights there.

A couple of days ago, we went to Hershey. PA. It was a smart move to go early on Friday instead of Thursday, our first plan. We got there around 9:30 AM. Not too crowded. We saw the 4D movie first. It was cute. The Hershey kiss in the movie actually communicates with the audience including wishing me a Happy Birthday. She asked where I was in the audience and wouldn't continue until I acknowledged her. Pretty cute. Obviously someone is able to see and hear the audience and make her talk. The kids loved it. It was a cute movie. After, we went on the automated ride through the fake chocolate factory. It was cute and reminiscent of Disney but FREE. Everyone got a mini chocolate bar after each activity. Then we spent $75 in the store. Phhffft. We've been eating a lot of chocolate the past couple of days. I have to detox when I get home.

We made it to the Ghilanis on Friday afternoon. We enjoyed a nice bonfire and a late night chatting. The next afternoon, we spent poolside. Great day. 80s, warm and the water was warm. I even swam. What?! We had a casual evening at home by another bonfire chatting and laughing. We celebrated my birthday and had a really nice day. It's nice because all of our kids get along and play. Nice kids too.

Now we are on our way home. 5 hours to our house, our pups, our new driveway (and the Beasts new resting spot) and our bed. We have had an awesome time. We created great memories and we look forward to the next one. 14 states including Michigan and Ohio in 16 days...check √.
