Le Texas sous la pluie : Houston

      November 21, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 7 °C

      Houston again

      November 3, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Honestly, I would have never thought that I will play a piano in the middle of Houston City, Texas where everybody can listen to me🥲 Craaazy was die Reise mit mir macht🫢😁

Sie sagte nur “he will be 26 forever”… Zum Schluss hat sie noch gesagt: “do whatever you want, travel as much as you can because you never know when your journey will end…”

      Houston

      April 20, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Read more

    • Day 31

      Houston

      October 27, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

      It's HOT in Houston

      June 14, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 34 °C

This morning I was up bright and early for my flight to Houston. Headed down to free breakfast to test out the stomach after not being too well. Able to eat yoghurt and a banana, I jumped on the airport shuttle and got to the airport early. The first flight was back to Denver as that is where Southwest Airlines hub is. In the airport, an older guy sparked up a conversation when he heard my accent. He told me his daughter was headed to USYD to study, so we were chatting about that. The flight was easy, only had about 40 minute layover so had a bagel and a coffee also called Stacy as the boys wanted to talk to me which was so sweet. The next flight was longer but went quickly as well.
Then finally I was in Houston! Got my bags and walked outside... Well it was about 37 degrees and humid, a bit of a change from the other stops...
Hannah, my former UK teammate picked me up and it was so lovely to see them. We drove to their house and it is such a cute open space. They have decorated it so well. I met their two cats, Hops and Simcoe (the type of hops they use for their beer). Simcoe is super friendly but Hops is a bit more standoffish.
We then headed to the Post which was a former post office building, but now it is a food court. There were so many places to eat, from South African, South American, Indian, Mexican and everything in between. Hannah and I split some chicken/rice dish and a fatti (an Indian taco) which went down well. We then headed to Frost Town Brewery which is the brewery that John and Hannah own. The space was MASSIVE with indoor and outdoor areas. They showed me where they brew, can and work in the space. It's honestly incredible what they have built in less than a year! I then got to try their award winning Frostbier - a Kolsch, which was great. I sat at the bar while Hannah and John worked, chatting with their bar tenders, Jacob and Clara who were awesome. There was a baseball game so it got quite busy for a Wednesday, it was fun to watch all the people come by.
It was then time for trivia, I sat with a bunch of regulars some of whom are Hannah's friends. They were such a clever bunch and all really friendly. Trivia was insanely hard, John runs it with a friend and I knew little to nothing. The night went quickly and I found myself exhausted from a long day. We finally went home and I fell asleep very quickly.

      Sunday Funday

      June 18, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

Today I woke up and headed to Frost Town with John. It was the day of the Frost Town Pride 5k run. It was already busy at the brewery and I helped set up the decoration station for the run. I had a few helpers decorate me with rainbows and other crayons. There was about 40 people who came and we all took a big group photo. I hung with Jess who I met on Wednesday at trivia, we ran for 2kms then stopped to take photos of the people running on the way back. It was so fun to cheer people on, especially since it was about 30 degrees already. We finally walked back and met Hannah who was happy with how the event had gone. Back at the brewery heaps of people were drinking and enjoying the vibes. I met and spoke with a couple of other people who worked or had worked at the brewery, they were all so lovely. I bought a shirt and said bye to Frost Town for the last time.
We headed home for a shower and went to brunch called Cafe Brussels, a fun taster before I head there later in the trip. The food was delicious. Hannah and I then rode the bikes to Holler Brewery which was a cool vibe and delicious beers. We then went to Drunk Shakespeare which was a show where they perform a Shakespeare play but one cast member takes 4 shots at the beginning of the performance. It was very funny and crude, the best part was watching the crowds reactions to all the jokes and things. Definitely an interesting concept.
We then went to a bar in the oldest constantly used commercial building in Houston. It was quirky and dark, with cheap beer!! We then headed to a bar that gives all the profit to charity which is such a wonderful initiative. I would spend a lot of money here! Then we headed for pizza at a place called homeslice which was massive.
I packed my bags and got ready for the next stop on my journey!

      Week 5 Houson + Mississippi

      May 10, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 86 °F

      Howdy,

Currently in Houston and finally feeling like I’m fully in the swing of things. I am actually sleeping better and not anxious about the next day meetings and travels so that’s a huge plus.

I have been actively running every day or other day as well as weight lifting so I’m feeling good!

This week kicked off with my air conditioning dying in the sprinter van, but I was able to get it repaired and back on the road within 24 hours so that was a plus. Had a HUGE meeting yesterday with the 4th largest district in Texas. They loved our STEM stuff so I am looking forward to doing more business with them.

Today is a full afternoon with Houston ISD. This should be eventful and fun. I will be there for a few hours while different groups and people come by to learn about our solutions. In those moments, I feel like I am most in my element. No matter how tired or worn out I am, I can always rise to the occasion and put on a good demo of the products. I don’t even consider myself a salesman, I just think I am passionate about the products so it helps to sell them. To be honest, I think the best salesman are passionate about what they do. It also makes it easy to sell a product when you truly know you have the best solution in the industry.

Yesterday I had a little time towards the end of the day so I checked out a interactive art museum called Seismique. Pretty incredible vision that came to life for these artists. There was about 20 rooms all with interactive elements to it. Some provided inspo for the van, some were just fun to interact with, some blew my mind at the amount of time and effort it took to pull it off. You could tell everyone there was having a good time, taking videos, and enjoying the vision that these artists brought to life.

Looking forward to seeing the beach as I head to Port Arthur Texas tomorrow! First time seeing an ocean since I left. I need it. Then off to Jackson MS Friday for meetings and then Nashville TN for the weekend!! Going to be a fun one! My buddy Jared is meeting me out there so we are going to have a little country filled weekend. Stoked to spend time with a SD friend while on the road!

      Until next time peeps.

      Wandering around Houston

      June 16, 2023 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 36 °C

Today I woke up greeted by the cat and John made us breakfast which was so yum. Hannah and I then went to Walmart which was massive. We got a few things that they needed for the run on Sunday then headed back to the brewery. I then played my day of walking out. It was about 43 degrees and 90% humidity, but I wanted to see some sights of downtown Houston. I visited multiple parks, the old courthouse, a church, the tallest building in Texas, and finally Sam Houston Park which had historic houses from the 1800s. The best part of walking around downtown is the murals which are on some buildings, they are diverse and beautiful! I sat here for a bit and read my book before jumping on the light rail to start my trek to a few other breweries. I stopped by a park near the convention centre and then continued on to True Anomaly brewing and 8th Wonder. The beer selection was big and they weren't bad at all. The venues were just a bit average compared to Frost Town. I then headed back into town and had dinner at an underground food court which had a cool vibe.
I walked back to Frost Town and spoke with some regulars who literally bought an apartment based on the brewery being built where it is. They were a lovely couple and really great to talk to. Then Hannah ran bingo which was really busy, good to see them doing well.
After that, Hannah and John took me to an Australian owned brewery called Platypus, which has tried to play on Aussie culture a bit. It was average, the beer was different. We then headed to a local bar so Hannah could get food and met up with some of their friends for a chat and another beer.
It was a full day of exploring, drinking and meeting some cool humans!

      Houston 🌆

      April 25, 2022 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Travelled over on the Amtrak train from New Orleans for a day in Houston, before heading across to Austin. Didn’t want too much time in Houston as we’ve been told by various Americans that there is not a huge amount going on (which was true), but had a lovely day regardless 💛 Amazing street art and beautiful gardens 🌵Read more

      Houston

November 30, 2022 in the United States
