      A pitstop in Nevada

      October 10, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 4 °C

Janet and David who me met at the chiropractor had invited us to stay at their house in Incline Village at Lake Tahoe. So we decided to go a little more slowly, spend another day in the area and at the same time cycle in a 4th state, as the East side of the lake lies in Nevada already. So we left Truckee after a nice breakfast and cycled along beautiful Truckee River towards Lake Tahoe. On the way, we stopped by Squaw Valley, where the winter Olympics took place in 1960. We then continued our way to Tahoe City, took a stroll along the farmers market and common beach. Next, we stopped at Kings Beach for a picnic and some views of the lake with its crystal clear water. As it was windy and cold, we decided to go ahead and climb the 250m to Janet's and Dave's house. We spend the evening exchanging travel and bike stories, eating dinner and relaxing in the hot tub which was perfect recovery support for my back. David also took us up to Mt Rose Summit, a pass that is open all year long, from where we could enjoy the sunset over Lake Tahoe, admire the colorful lights of Reno in the middle of the desert and watch the people in the ski resort preparing the slope with artificial snow - hard to believe that skiing will be possible here in 3 weeks already...Read more

      Kayaking

      July 14, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Today we woke up early because we went Kayaking. It was my second time, I did it in Princeville Ranch in Kauai. It was really cold it the morning, I had goosebumps!! The Kayaks were 2 person kayaks, me and Daddy got on one and Conor and Mammy went on another, and our instructor Sean went on a one person Kayak. Lake Tahoe is Americas 2nd deepest lake and the worlds 10th deepest lake! Apparently, the deepest the lake can go is 500m down! When we got on our kayaks and kayaked app.1.5 miles, we saw a big house. This house is called Thunderbird Lodge and a billionaire George Whittle bought a LOT of land (2000acres I think) in the early 1900. Whittle was planning to make a summer-hotel with a skiing place, casinos and stuff like that, but for he's love of animals he is recluse, and bought a elephant. Whittle died in 1969, and his family sold the building to the state and you are now allowed to have weddings there. Sean said that some people think that Whittle still haunts the building....🐘👻👻👻💀☠️ We got to see Whittles HUGE house and his elephants BIG stable. After we passed the house, we had a stop at Chimney beach, where the water was freezing cold!! I ate an energy bar and we switched partners, and I was with Mammy. There were boats, so we got big waves and I was scared that we would tip over. We finally reached the destination and we kayaked 10k!!
That was fun and next time I hope I dont tip over.

      Hidden Beach, Lake Tahoe

      August 23, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

Headed out in Kevin's boat to Hidden Beach. Water makes it seem like you are in the Caribbean, until you get in!

Finished the day with a hike to a viewpoint of the lake from Kevin's house. Last picture is of Kevin's house so you can see how they are all built up the mountain here.

A great day in Lake Tahoe!

Burnt Cedar Beach, Incline Village, NV

      August 22, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 79 °F

Spent the day at the local beach to help celebrate Mandy's 5th birthday (ok, so we party crashed!) where they have lake access in a rocky area because the lake is 6 feet below normal. Great for finding crayfish! There was also a playground, pool with slide and a baby pool. Awesome area!

Finished the day with an amazing dinner at Lupita's Mexican restaurant where we had REAL mexican food. The guacamole was divino. Gordie got El Presidente fish tacos and Maddie the tacos carnitas, Sarah got Lupita's Burrito with a chile relleno inside and Angus went for the supreme burrito. Only problem was that hardly anyone could finish because Kevin had made pulled pork sandwiches and enormous ribs in his smoker for the birthday party. Hmmm, thinking we need a smoker! ¡Muy sabroso y fantástico!

      Lake Tahoe

      July 15, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

This morning we woke up early because we were going to Kayak at Lake Tahoe. Daddy got a mail from the instructor yesterday saying that we had to be there at 7:45am and telling us about the stuff that we should bring. I was freezing cold and I couldn't change into my swimming 🏊 clothing. I finally changed into my swimming 🏊 clothing, but I was still cold! So I got my new jacket and wore it. I was very sleepy 😴 so l slept in the car. We arrived at Lake Tahoe.
But there was a huge traffic jam! We waited for 30 minutes then the parking lot gate opened. We parked the car and stepped outside. It was so cold! We followed daddy to our instructor and the Kayaks. The instructor's name was Sean. Me and mammy got in a kayak and daddy and Maya got in a kayak. We were heading to a beach called chimney beach. We kayaked for 4km and saw a huge house. Sean said it was the house of captain whittle who was a very wealthy man. He bought a lot of land on the coast of Lake Tahoe. He was thinking of developing a resort and a casino but he became a recluse which is a person that preferred to live alone. He also bought a pet elephant 🐘! Some people say that captain whittle 's house is haunted! 👻 👻👻We arrived at chimney beach. If you are wondering why it is called chimney beach, it is because there is a real chimney on the sand! The water 💦 was freezing cold and I swam in the freezing cold water!
