    Niagara Falls Day 2

    May 6 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Today started off with the Zipline down the falls which was so much fun!!!!! No nerves at all from me, I think I was too excited! Even St George bear got to ride the Zipline (in the backpack attached, but technically he did 🙊). It was all over in about a minute but soo worth it!
Next stop Tim Hortons for breakfast and I understand why all you travellers rave about it! We loved the donuts and cookies 😋
Off to the White Water Walk to check out the rapids. We went down an elevator 78m to the bottom of the escarpment and walked through a tunnel, you walk out the to viewing platform and just go wow! The rapids were just amazing! Again we could have just sat here all day. We got down to end and we may have put out hands through the fence to touch the water. It was freezing!!!! I know it would have been a bit warmer but Dad I have no idea how you and Brian went in that lake!!
Caught the bus to the floral clock and then on down to Niagara on the Lake! It wasn’t really what I expected, Sarah and I felt like we had stepped into a retirees heaven. All these cute, old stores like Bowral or the Blue Mountains. The Lake itself was beautiful and again water was bloody cold!
Had a little nap on the way back up to the falls. Stopped at Clifton Hill at an ice cream store called Sweet Jesus recommended by our tour guide yesterday! That was our dinner It was delicious! I had the banging brownie on a waffle cone - chocolate ice cream covered in caramel sauce, brownie bits and ice magic!!! A little bit of souvenir shopping and then off the casino! No winners here but we had some fun!
Another stop at Tim Hortons to collect some breakfast before our 3:30am pickup tomorrow morning to head to NYC!!

    NYC - Central Park

    May 8 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

Today, we did a lot of walking!!! 26,000 steps according to my watch.
We walked from our hotel at Time Square to Central Park and did a walking tour around the park for 2 hours. The park is just beautiful!!!! No flowers really around yet, but so much greenery, it’s so pretty.
The sun was shining, a beautiful day. We went to the boathouse and row row rowed the boats along the lake which was pretty fun, although Sarah almost took out a turtle with the paddle at one point.
Some more walking to see the Alice in Wonderland statue and a ride on the carousel. Then we rented some bikes to do a lap through the park. Halfway round we were done hahaha sore legs and it was warming up. But we made it back!!
Off to Tiffany’s to treat ourselves because we deserve it!!!
By this time it’s nearly 3:30 so we decide we’d better eat some lunch - a quick sandwich which was a delicious find.
A stage door tour at Radio City Music Hall is up next. This was magnificent. It’s one of the largest theatres in the world and has held the Tony & Grammys awards over the years and is home to the Rockettes and we even got to meet one of them.
Afternoon tea at Magnolias Bakery hit the spot before we headed back to the hotel.

Last stop of the night is the St James Theatre for three Frozen musical!!!!! And it was awesome!!!!! We had frozen themed cocktails and yes dad a souvenir cup 😂
It had songs from the movie plus some new ones, we didn’t like the fact that Olaf was basically a big ass puppet controlled by someone on stage with their hand in his head who did all the talking.....
But when they made it snow at the end it was just magical and so Disney!! 🥰

    Start spreading the news.....

    May 7 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Another early morning start. Had to cross the Border back into America to catch our flight from Buffalo to NYC - they transfer company must have been worried about it taking a while? But we were at the airport with plenty of time to spare meaning we could have one last visit to Tim Hortons.

The shuttle from the airport to our hotel nearly took longer than the flight. It seemed to take FOREVER!!!!
Finally we made it to the Edison Hotel. We were too early to check in, so we dumped out bags and off we went to see Time Square. We decided we were too buggered to do much sightseeing so decided to do a bit of shopping instead. First stop was Disney!!!!
Hit up Ruby Tuesday’s for some cocktails and delicious ribs for lunch. More shopping and headed back to the hotel. Room is pretty old but beds are comfy so that’s all that matters

    New York in a day

    November 4, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 12 °C

We made the most of our 10 hour layover in New York.

Me, Riaan and Torrie took an uber from JFK to Karin’s place in the upper east of Manhattan for a long awaited shower.

The 4 of us hit the streets by foot, train and cab to see Time Square, Empire State building, Chrysler building, Grand Central station, 911 memorial and finally the State of Liberty.

It was fun to see NYC through Riaan and Torrie’s eyes as they were blown away by the city and its sights and sounds.

As always it was a pleasure to see Karen again and catch up with he, the last time we saw each other was when Isabel ran the NY half in 2016 a year and a half ago.

    Carry on walking

    June 23 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

"Get in there", says Jamie Carragher - but Jamie Carraghers bar was shut....
A crowded Time Square and the only way to get across is on a high wire tight rope....

    Time Square (NYC)

    August 15, 2018 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

Danach heißt es für uns zurück zum nahegelegenen Time Spuare, denn bei Nacht wirken die Leuchtreklame und die Videoleinwände natürlich noch viel besser als bei Tageslicht. ♥️

    New York, wir sind da!

    June 28, 2018 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 26 °C

    Endlich, New York!
