Plug Run

This may have been my favorite show because of the room. It was on the top floor of a winery. We had to use a big dumb waiter to get everything up the stairs. There was a nice wood cherry looking floor and tons of tables. We were supposed to play outside but I liked this more. The sound was super reverby which was nice, and the drums sounded incredible full, especially the snare.

We played a good first set and invited tons of people up including Matt Woods (it was his anniversary), the drummer Dwight, and a singer who looked like Jodat from the Florida billboards. I even played harmonica on a few songs.

During a break Dwight told us about pork tenderloin sandwiches which are apparently a big Midwest thing. We convinced Jen and Scott to help us find a place. We landed up going to the Angry Goldfish (their specialty is the tenderloin and Sriracha goldfish). All but one of us got their sandwich and Parmesan fries, plus we got really good fried pickles. The sandwich was supposedly brined in sriracha but I couldn’t tell other than the color.

At the end of our meal a couple from the winery walked in and remembered us. They bought us drinks and pie. Super nice of them. Overall it was a great time in Iowa. Springfield, Illinois tomorrow!Read more
