    NY Central 5th Ave

December 20, 2016 in the United States

Today was just a stroll day to check out stores on 5th Ave and Madison for the girls so we headed towards manhattan Central and if course came across Trump Tower, lol, just had to get a snap. The girls stayed in stores a lot due to the cold so I headed over to Central Park on my own.

Pier 76 Pizza Bar -Staten Island

December 20, 2016 in the United States

The crews tip off was incredible. This great little Italian Bar and a Pizza Joint for true New York style pizzas. Not a lot of topping, but flavours just blew your taste buds. I went through some locally brewed beers whilst the girls experimented with some local beveridge combinations.
Spent a bit but the barman was tremendous, threw in some freebies, and closed the night out with some weird shots type drinks.
Ok, now to make our way back home.

    NY Central Park

December 20, 2016 in the United States

The girls eventually caught up to me in the Park, but unfortunately the cold was pretty severe at -6 and a wind chill of -11, so a fast stroll and then off to find some warm cafe for a late lunch.
Seeing the crazies putting up with the cold and skating at the rink was something to see. You come to NY at xmas these are the things you expect to do.

    Staten Island Ferry

December 20, 2016 in the United States

What to do after the late lunch was the next concern. Too cold for the lady with the lamp and the queues were massive so instead we decide to head over to Staten Island and get some shots from the ferry along the way.
Got some good tips from one of the ferry crew and marched into Staten Island for some dinner.

    postcards

September 6, 2016 in the United States

Postcards on Staten island is one of the most poignant places I've ever been, from a distance it looks like a nice looking statute, it is not surrounded by information points or security or anything really to tell you what it is. No signs to tell you to treat the place with respect or remove your hat (although something inside made me feel I should).

When you step between the two large wings you find 274 marble plaques, with 274 names, 274 dates of birth and 274 job titles. Each plaque has a silhouette looking straight out across the water towards the city, the centre line of postcards points straight to ground zero where in one single act of hatred 274 people's lives were extinguished.

I took the time to read every name on the two large "postcards to loved ones", and I shed some tears but that's nothing compared to what people must feel every day who lost someone that horrendous day. I cannot and hopefully will not ever be able to comprehend that pain.

On my last full day in New York, I have to say, I'm not the city's biggest fan...but in a similar way to London on 7/7 these amazing people have pulled back together, memorialized, never forgotten and stood together you say, you will not change us. And that is something that demands respect.

    Staten Island Ferry

April 16, 2017 in the United States

    Staten Island

May 17, 2017 in the United States

Also Power-Sightseeing dann👍🏼

    Stunde 111: Staten Island

February 21 in the United States

Das Sommerwetter hat die Vorhersage übertroffen! 24 Grad!
