Time to get moving again

The past six weeks in the great North East of the US has been very relaxing and full of new experiences. I got to run 15 trails with 12 different hash clubs (9 of them for the first time). They do things a bit differently up this way, but all still great fun. Headed to the airport first thing in the morning.Read more

Greene 5K Race

Ran my first race in over 2 years (since my heart surgery). It was only a 5K, and I have run over 250 hash trails since then, but this was the first time to flat out run. My HS buddy John and I ran this together 5 years ago after our 35th HS Reunion, so we decided to do it again this year. Our only goal was to finish in under 30 minutes, and we did . . . 29:37 over the line. Another one of our classmates turned up out of the blue, Karen (Taylor) Dickerson, also ran. Have spent the rest of the week helping my Dad around the house, getting things fixed up before the snow flies. Painted the side of the house, and trimmed a couple windows. Also cleaning up some brush, branches, and flower beds. And now painting the garage. In between jobs, we sit down and drink a beer, while watching the chipmunks play. I tracked down my two best friends from High School, so we had dinner on Thursday evening. Planning to head out to Ithaca tomorrow to run a hash trail with the Ithaca H3.Read more

Labor Day 5K

Labor Day has always been a big holiday in my hometown celebrating the end of summer . . . and school starting up again. Most of my schooling was back in the 1970s, and class sizes back then were growing. I believe my class of 1981 may have been one of the biggest at just over 150. From what I hear now, class sizes are closer to just 50, and they have to combine with another school several miles away just to field an 8 man football team. Times change . . . Anyway, over the past decade, they have added a 5K race to the holiday procession, and my buddy John and I have run it three times. This year it was in a steady rain, but it was just as much fun as always. We have tied on the two previous occasions, but this year he beat me . . . as you can see at the finish. 😆😆😆Read more

Taking a short break

My summer excursion was awesome . . . but time to visit family, and attend my 40th HS Reunion. What a summer it was, 15 flights and two months long (all of July and August). Hashed 30 trails in Jordon, Croatia, Germany, Switzerland, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Czech Republic, and Scotland. This included the Dalmatian Hash Cruise, DST H3 600th, Swiss Nash Hash, Copenhagen H3 Summer House Weekend, EuroHash, and the Aberdeen AGPU events. Great to meet so many new friends and see many old friends.

Was able to get some excellent updates on individual hash clubs for the HHH Genealogy, and cross PETRA off my bucket list.Read more

Dad was a little behind getting the tractor out for the spring first mowing, so it took a lot longer to mow, rake, and clean up. Took all day.
