Day 3 pt. 1 - Ann Arbor Blues Festival

    August 17, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

We had to wake up super early for this one and leave by 7am to make it to Ann Arbor (4 hour drive). We got there and got loaded in and played a really good set.

Afterwards I got to say hello to Sam Lay again and also got to talk with Kenny Smith and Billy Flynn. It was such an honor to get to see and hear all these amazing players and also share the same stage as them. It was an amazing experience.

We’re currently on the road to Saugatuck, MI for a 9:30-1:30 show. Thankfully they have a house kit so we can get out of there fast!

    Walking the Arb

    October 6, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

I went walking with Patrick and his girlfriend through the Arb, which is a trail area maintained by the University of Michigan. We walked for about an hour and had really good conversation about both liking and disliking Texas and the hot weather.Read more

    Ann Arbor

    October 6, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

I met up with Patrick and his girlfriend, Camille, from couchsurfing. They showed me around the area. We ate at Frita's. Really good food. Then we walked around. I got to see how huge UM really is. Gigantic! I wish I would have applied there and possibly gotten in. The school is amazing. I also found this really cool shop where you make your own Halloween costume, but I forget what it is called.Read more

    Jiffy factory

    October 8, 2015 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

Of coarse I'm visiting another factory. Not the most interesting tour, but super nice people. They did give out free muffins and two free boxes of Jiffy mix at the end of the tour. Always interesting to see how things are made. The really cool thing about this tour was that the president and CEO Howard "Howdy" Holmes cane and said hi to us. That was kinda cool and apparently he does that a lot.Read more

    Ann Arbor

    April 26, 2019 in the United States ⋅ 🌬 15 °C

On our last stretch home, we decided to call our friend’s son, Kevin Ghilani, who goes to U of M, to see if he wanted to have dinner. He said yes so we picked him up in Ann Arbor, surprised the kids and went to dinner. We had a great time laughing our butts off which is what we always do when a Ghilani is around. We had a great time. This made Kevin our finale trip friend. It was a great end. When we got home, our dogs were excitedly waiting for us. We literally spent the whole night loving them up. Every time I turned around one of the five of us was on the floor snuggling the dogs. Great to be home. It always looks a little different and feels a little different. It quickly welcomes us back and familiarity returns. Life comes back to it. Do you know why? Because home is where the family is. When we aren’t there, home is where we are. When we start on our trips, we don’t look back until we are coming back. Then we are glad to be back. Home sweet home.Read more
