Wat is beter? Blik of boks water? Dis die lekkerste water en dit kom in alle vorms hier voor. In die lughawens is "vending" masjiene vir enige iets! Van elektriese ware, grimering, gebakte koeke, "baby maintenance" en borsvoeding kiosk.
Dan die toilette! Daar is toilette vir mans en ander vir dames. Toilette vir alle geslagte of oriëntasies. Toilette vir honde en dan dien van die toilette nog as skuiling teen "severe weather" ook. Nogals geskok om te sien dat daar binne die toilette spesiale houers aangebring is waar die druggies hul inspuitings "veilig" van kan ontslae raak! Eintlik baie hartseer....
Oefen soos n ruimtevaarder, is nog n interessantheid binne die lughawens. Die vibreer stasie het plek om jou foon/tablet, ens te laai terwyl jy sit en bewe. Hulle reken dis hoe ruimtevaarders oefen.
Oral langs die pad in Alaska is piepklein koffie kiosks. In die oggende lyn die wit gesneeude motors by die kiosks op... opsoek na n warm koffietjie.Read more

Niagra watervalle

Gister ons vlug van Chicago na Toronto met 1 minuut gemis... toe moet ons nog 6 ure wag om n volgende vlug na Toronto te kry. Dit het ons Niagra planne bietjie deurmekaar gekrap, siende ons die White Water Walk sou stap en ook die toer agter die watervalle, sou doen. Ons was toe te laat vir dit. Ons kon darem met die buite huisbak van die Skylan toring tot bo opgaan en die valle mooi van bo af sien. Daarna het ons ver gestap om so naby moontlik aan die Horseshoe valle te kom. Die dreunklank en grootheid van die valle is indrukwekkend! Ons is toe terug na ons lêplek naby die lughawe... lekker moeg!Read more

Da sind wir nun, in der Hauptstadt, dieses rießigen Landes und nach einen völlig verschobenen Tag und einer erholsamen Nacht, sieht die Welt heute schon wieder besser aus. Zu unserer Überraschung befindet sich unser Hotel sehr zentral nur 15 Gehminuten vom weißen Haus entfernt.

Nach einem Bagel, welcher das Hotelfrühstück darstellte, zogen wir los und besichtigten die Stadt.
Washington DC wirkte auf uns sehr, sehr ruhig und grün. Alles sauber, wenig Obdachlose und vor allen dingen, keine Hochhäuser. Wir fanden unzählige Museen, Gedenkstätten und Parkanlagen. Wir liefen zum weißen Haus und besuchten das Lincoln Memorial, welches sehr beeindruckend war. Auch das Capitol haben wir gesehen.Read more

Besuch des Renwick Museums

Ist das Kunst oder kann das weg. Besuch des Renwick Museums, welches moderne Kunst ausstellt. Zu unserer Überraschung war das Museum völlig kostenlos und echt schön anzusehen. Auch wenn man sich bei manchen Exponaten fragte, ob diese vom Sperrmüll stammen. Es war definitiv einen Besuch wert.Read more

DC bei Nacht

Drei Tage sind schon wieder vergangen und an unserem letzten Tag, schauten wir uns den kleinen, hübschen Stadtbezirk “Georgetown” an, welcher mit seiner kleinstädtischen Architektur, den kleinen Boutiquen und schönen Restaurants uns sehr gefallen hat.

Abends zogen wir dann noch einmal los, um die Stadt im Dunklen zu erkunden. Es war so einiges los auf den Straßen, mehr als am Tag.

Nach einem kurzen Stop bei Mc Donalds gingen wir wieder in unseres Hotel.

Washington D.C ist eine schöne Stadt. Dennoch hat mir irgendwas gefehlt. Was, weiß ich auch nicht. Es war toll mal alles zusehen, was man sonst nur aus den Filmen kennt. Wenn die Bediensteten des Secret Service direkt neben dir stehen oder die schwarzen Wagen in Kolonne mit Blaulicht und getönten Scheiben an dir vorbeifahren.

Washington D.C bleibt definitiv sehr warm in Erinnerung 😜🥵Read more

IHOP for Breakfast

Uddy wanted us to have breakfast at IHOP so we drove 15mins to find one on Rickmond Highway where I ordered the Breakfast Sampler with hot chocolate drink.

Hoje de manhã saímos e fomos de bicicleta até à Casa Branca novamente, mas desta vez vimo-la de frente também.

Descemos até ao Washington Monument para o ver mais de perto, mas para subir lá a cima é preciso marcar com 2 ou 3 dias de antecedência 😢 seguimos para o Lincoln Memorial e depois vimos também o Jefferson Memorial.

Parámos para almoçar num Shake Shack e depois fomos em direção ao Pentágono.

A caminho do Pentágono passámos numa Nordstrom e num Costco, e depois de ver o Pentágono por fora (que também dá para visitar por dentro mas tem de se marcar) passámos numa Cinnabon 😁

Depois seguimos de bicicleta para casa e demos o dia como terminado!Read more

Walking Tour of Washington Memorials

This was my third visit to Washington D.C and the first time I would be visiting with my daughters, I had to make it a special and memorable experience for them so after some research and planning on how to see all the memorials and monuments in a structured order I decided we should start-off with the Jefferson Memorial. Union Station has become our start off point as they have a large paid garage with capacity for over 2,600 cars. Parking for 10hrs cost $20, shorter durations are cheaper but most sight seeing visits will fit into this range.

Just opposite the the Union Station is a bus stop where you can board the Circulator NMC bus for $1 per rider. It takes you round the mall, monuments and memorials. so we hoped on one and stopped beside the Jefferson Memorial from where our walking tour of Washington D.C Memorials and Monuments commenced, the route we followed is shown in the map below. We visited the following sites in the following order:

1. Thomas Jefferson Memorial
2. Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
3. Martin Luther King Jr Memorial
4. D.C War Memorial
5. Korean War Veterans Memorial
6. Lincoln Memorial
7. Vietnam Veterans Memorial
8. The Lockkeeper's House
9. The White House
10. Washington Monument

The entire walking tour is about 4kms and took us roughly 2hrs as we stopped at each site to admire the monument/memorial, read the inscriptions and take some memorable pictures.Read more
