Here's the start for us of Route 66. Not too far out of Chicago but we had no intention of driving in there.

    Von Chicago nach Joliet, IL

    May 2 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

    Day 4 - The Bullpen

    June 28 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

Last night we stayed with Frank and left early morning. Jenn made us muffins and coffee and I played with Rocky before having to say goodbye. We couldn’t leave right away as Doug lost the keys yet again. We then made our way to Panera Bread (St. Louis Bread Company in St. Louis) and got some food. On the way we stopped at a gas station and got some snacks. I got some Wisconsin cheese and beef stick combo.

We finally got to the hotel and then met with the maker of Vero amps who took us out to dinner at an Italian place called Pesciolino Osteria. I got some kind of chicken that was similar to chicken Parmesan but it had veggies. The appetizers were great; we had bruschetta and even though I hate tomatoes those ones were super good.

We then made our way to Shorewood for the gig. We were supposed to start at 8 but landed up showing up around that time. Vero’s owner was the dude who made the gig happen and insisted we go to dinner and just relax. The show was an absolute blast, which was somewhat surprising because it was a sports bar with lots of TVs. Everyone was super into it, most especially Jeff Burgos (in the group picture). Thomas played insanely good, Doug was on his game, and Andrew as always played killer.

The night ended with Andrew searching frantically for his iPod and then a buckle from his shoe. I got some late night soda and Fruit Loops from the lobby. Tomorrow we’re off to New Glarus, Wisconsin to play their big festival. The Jimmys open, then us, then we back up Bryan Lee. Super excited for that one!

    Day 15 - Keglers

    September 29 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 61 °F

So today’s gig was super last minute. We had to drive all the way back from Minnesota to Joliet which is about 7 hours. When we played Minneapolis the night before we landed up driving about halfway, staying at a Americinn or something somewhere in Wisconsin I believe.

We landed up staying at the same hotel in Joliet as we did way back during the first tour. Same room even. It was a big suite with two bedrooms. Steve Fozzio took us out for the third round of Italian food and everyone remembered us.

The gig was in a bar attached to a bowling alley. The gig was super fun. Nick Moss came out and sat in, plus we had Mondo and Steve play with us. Some drummer sat in also so I could play harmonica.

When we finished some dude offered us 100 dollars to play four more songs. So we did of course. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel.

    Chicago dog

    October 15, 2015 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 57 °F

After talking to Anton for a bit, he decides we don't have to go see Chicago. He settles on taking me to the Harrah's casino in Juliet. I finally taste a version of the famous Chicago dog and I get to watch him spend $5 per spin on a machine.

    Naperville, IL

    June 24, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 72 °F

Today was a real treat. We travelled to Jenn's hometown of Naperville, Illinois. She wasn't born in Illinois, she was born in New York, but this is where she grew up.

We visited the two houses she lived in, as well as the downtown Naperville River Walk. Along the way we stopped in the park near her first house with the "giant" hill the kids used to sled down.

Jenn and I visited Naperville in 1996 and when we went to the park she said, "Where is the hill?" 😊The picture in the gallery for this post is of Jenn and Quinn standing at the base of the hill. To be fair, for a little kid, it is a good sized hill. I tried to get a video of Quinn rolling down the hill, but he wouldn't do it. Maybe next time.

The River Walk was very pretty. There was an art exhibition around town. A lot of benches made from famous children's books.

It was a good visit. Now the kids can picture the places when Jenn's family tell their stories.
