      BNE - VLI …..Back of the bus

      My word - seat 29A! I remember very well the last time I was seated in the very back row. It was the day after the Port Arthur massacre - a flight back to Hobart from Maroochydore. I had been in Port Arthur just the week before…horrible time. There sure are no Qantas considerations- I didn’t even get an isle seat. Hopefully I get a view coming out/in. Glass half full - just about to take off and I am alone in the row of three- I will take this! Flying now — half the battle!
      Now arrived - sultry but VERY windy and looking like it could rain at any minute. The drive in from the airport was very Koh Samui. Lots of garages and small shops. On first impressions - everywhere is a little tired and clearly the economy is not booming. The main street meanders around a picturesque harbour. The hotel is more than adequate but here I wish I hadn’t been given top floor. Only 3 floors but stairs - brought back Haig St Kirra memories!! Nice balcony overlooking the pool. There is a pool bar with a cocktail person! Did the obligatory hike to a marche for some local beer to ‘welkam’ myself to Port Vila.       Au Revoir - Melanesian Port Vila

      A quick add on to finish life on island time as tomorrow could well be mayhem. As noted my flight has already been changed and I now learn of chaotic wind action in Sydney cancelling a 100 flights - wonderful news. A positive- my new (earlier) transfer time has been confirmed! Hopefully there are not any delays out of Port Vila as it is a small airport with not many delights. I will have plenty of time, if all goes well, to negotiate SYD International to SYD Domestic- I will have to train as I don’t have connecting flights (wouldn’t allow out of CNS). I am overnighting in BNE - again if all goes well. I will miss Kerry on Saturday morning by a few hours - she arrives for the christening at 9.30am I board at 6.05. Let’s see how the dice roll!! Dinner tonight? I didn’t want hotel fare and the weather was too dicey to venture far. As it was I had to transfer off the balcony because of a squall and wind gust. I went to the Marche to try and bring some Francoise into this old French province for a last taste. A Mediterranean red, batard, confit fois, brie and gouda (nearly France) made for a nice piqnique and a fitting finish. There is a fair amount of French in the local language and the streets are named (like) Rue Picardi, which was my address, but not like New Caledonia which is full on.       Geniessen/Essen😊

      Da ich mich an die Zeiten in Vanuatu gewöhnt habe, stehe ich immer früh auf.
      Ich genoss die Aussicht vom Premium Hote und ein reichliches Frühstück wurde auch zur Verfügung gestellt und war toll.

      Dass was ich am meisten vermisst habe, als ich auf der Insel Tanna war, sind die warmen Duschen.🤣❤️

      Am Morgen musste ich mir nur noch die Bestätigung einholen, damit ich noch 1 Nacht auf den Kosten Air Vanuatus verbringen kann und das hat geklappt.👌🏼😊

      Ich vermochte an diesem Tag nicht viel zu unternehmen und ging auf die Insel Iririki, die vom Speisesaal aus zu sehen war.

      Schnorcheln, Chillen und Baden waren himmlisch.😍👌🏼
      Da ich 2500 Vatu bezahlen musste, konnte ich fast die ganzen Einrichtungen auf der Insel nutzen, zum Beispiel auch die Flossen zum Schnorcheln.
      Ich hatte eigentlich meine eigene Schnorchelausrüstung günstig in Australien gekauft, nahm aber trotzdem die Flossen auf der Insel.
      Schlussendlich war ich so zufrieden, dass ich sie kaufen wollte.
      Er sagte mir, nur versteckt bei mir im Häuschen. Und bei der Security soll ich sie in den Sack nehmen.🤔
      Ich gab ihm meinen Geldvorschlag und ging weiter.🙈

      15:00 Uhr bekam ich einen leichten Hunger, ging zu meinem Hotel und ass ein Indisches Mahl.
      Es war sooo lecker.😍

      Nach dem Gericht ging ich wieder auf die Insel Iririki. Ich genoss mehrer Pools, umlief die Insel 2 Mal und verweilte bis zum Sonnenuntergang auf einem Lavafelsen, der so wunderbar warm war.❤️
      Auch wenn ich nicht zu Marcel fliegen konnte, lässt es sich hier sehr gut leben.😘

      Zu Abendessen bestellte ich den Fisch, der auch nicht schlecht war.
      Zum Schluss ein Bad und früh ins Bett, um am anderen Tag die Reise nach Brisbane anzutretten.😊👌🏼      Read more

      Iririki Island Resort

      I spent my first day in Port Vila visiting Iririki Island resort. Just a 2 minute ferry across to the island which had a forest walkway, 2 pools, 2 restaurants and lots of land and water based activities! I settled by the pool and used my 1,000VT voucher (of the 2,500VT entry fee) as a contribution towards a delicious seafood risotto and glass of white wine.Read more

      Zurück in der Hauptstadt Port Vila

      Unsere Zeit auf Tanna war heute nun zu Ende. Es war wieder mal etwas Neues...,zwar ein bißchen ungewöhnlich, anders und speziell, doch sehr schön....😊 Ich gebe es ehrlich zu, wir haben am Anfang, als wir in unserer Unterkunft ankamen, auch erst einmal geschluckt 😲und brauchten einen Augenblick, uns darauf einzulassen.....und ich habe mich in der ersten Nacht auch noch ein bißchen schwer getan.... und darüber nachgedacht, wie das doch gleich gleich war mit dem Kannibalismus auf Vanuatu.😋😲😳😎....gibt es aber schon seit Ende der 60- er Jahre nicht mehr....😂,...so kann man sich eine Nacht auch um die Ohren schlagen...😉😉😎

      Ja und heute wurden wir dann schon wieder nach ein paar Abschiedsfotos überpünktlich🤔 zum Airport abgeholt🚖....und am späten Nachmittag waren wir wieder in Port Vila.

      In unserem Vanuatu Holiday Hotel🏨 wurden wir schon wie alte Bekannte begrüßt. Wir freuten uns erst einmal nur auf eine heiße Dusche🛁🚿, bevor wir zum Abendbrot ins Blue Marlin gingen, welches zumindest schon mal billiger als der Italiener war, wo wir am ersten Abend essen waren.

      ....Port Vila richtet sich scheinbar immer mehr auf Touristen ein...., mit der Hafenpromenade mit vielen Souvenirshops, Duty Free Shops, Restaurants, Clubs, Diveshops....und Preisen😏🙄, ....drei bis vier Mal die Woche kommen große Kreuzfahrtschiffe🚢 und legen hier an....und die Gäste wollen versorgt werden.😊😊😊      Read more

      Nice dinner at Cafe du Village. Sheila had a lobster entre and crab main. Richard stuck with steak! Lovely location on waterfront and fantastic service. We even managed to stay up to see the start of 2018!Read more
