    Da Nang

    November 18, 2019 in Vietnam ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Da Nang for us was a place to relax and slow down from our usual high speed travel routine.
We booked a mini apartment in a nice hotel with a swimming pool on the roof and enjoyed some easy days of eating, sleeping, relaxing and even getting a massage.
One day we went for a walk to the other side of the river, we crossed on a bridge whith a giant dragon on. We visited the Museum of Military Zone 5, which is still an active military base but one building is open for visitors. Hardly anyone seems to know about it which makes it extra spooky when you walk by military planes, helicopters and tanks, it is a strange feeling to be the only people in this big building of communist propaganda.
While relaxing, we thought through what we want from our really last month of travelling and we decided to go back to Thailand for some less "backpacking style - constantly moving" holiday. We bought a plane ticket and left for the airport with excitment. At the check in desk we were informed that we can only enter Thailand for 30 days but the time between this ticket and our ticket back to London is 31 days...
We were told that probably we only need to pay some money for the extra day once we land in Bangkok but we didn't want to risk it.
So we bought a new ticket in 3 days time and as we left the airport building a bird pooed on Tom's head. What a lucky day?!

Asia Tour - Da Nang - Vietnam

    March 26, 2019 in Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

First Full day in Da Nẵng and it’s been brilliant - I only chose to stop off here for a few nights to see the Dragon Bridge and to motorbike from here to Hue via the famous Hai Van Pass.

Seeing the bridge up close was awesome, it was even better at night (kicking myself for not taking any photos of it - well I did but they where all shocking)

Da Nẵng is a cool town, lots to do there, the Instagram famous golden bridge is about 1 hour west from Da Nẵng, my plan was to go there but when I found out it’s within a park that costs £30 to go inside I decided against it. Why would I pay £30 to enter a park to see a bridge, especially when my one way bike hire from Da Nẵng to Hue was expensive and I am starting to get low on money.

    Maybe one day.

The hostel I am staying in has a cool rooftop bar which gives you semi decent views, but it does serve good beer. It’s from a local brewery and their IPA is genuinely brilliant.

The beach at Da Nẵng is also stunning, I didn’t spent much time there as I am still badly burnt from Nha Trang and I was peeling something awful hahaha. It’s definitely more of a holiday destination than a backpacker place but it was a cool place to stop off.

Would I return? Probably, but only for a night to go see the night to make it easier to get to the golden bridge in the future.

Ling Ung Pagoda and Golden Bridge

    April 19, 2019 in Vietnam ⋅ 🌧 33 °C

Second stop on the cable line was Ling Ung Pagoda, home to a 98-foot (30-meter) Buddha statue that is nestled in the mountain clouds. We then walked across the Golden Bridge, the giant hands were quite amazing. A stroll through Le Jardin d'Amour, where local flowers flourish in the mountain climate, was really pretty.Read more

    Golden Bridge Part 4

    October 14, 2019 in Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

After looking around the Golden Bridge area we took another cable car to the top - Sunworld, the mini Disneyland. Halloween was the current theme with people dressed up, pumpkins everywhere, street performers, lots of food shops and a luge course.

While most of the group elected for coffee at Starbucks Linden went exploring and found a pagoda which had a view over the whole of Sunworld.

    Da Nang arrival

    March 23, 2017 in Vietnam ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

after 10h - arrival in Da Nang. I was invited to play card as my guide already slept, a group of funny guys catched me on my way to the toilet.

the game was fairly easy to understand - the people so nice and funny.

sleep was ok - had some wake ups but not many . in general a convient way to move on and sleep at the same time, and on top saving a hotel cost for one night

now we need a hotel as we decided to get our rooms at ad hoc this time to get the best spot .
