    Considerations for Designing Clock PCBs-

    June 30, 2022 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 28 °C

The clock crystal and associated circuits should be placed in the center of the PCB and should have a good ground plane, not close to the I/O interface. Clock generation circuits are not allowed in the form of daughter cards or daughter boards, and must be fabricated on separate clock boards or load-bearing boards. Only the equipment related to the clock circuit is installed in the PCB clock circuit area of FS TECH, avoid installing other circuits. Other signal lines should not be routed near or below the crystal: Clock circuits and ground planes are used under the crystal if other signals pass through the plane violating the image plane function. If the signal passes through the ground plane, there will be a small ground loop and affect the continuity of the ground plane.

Ground loops will have problems at high frequencies
    Shielding measures can be used to shield the clock crystal and clock circuit;

    https://www.find-us-here.com/businesses/FS-Tech…

If the clock case is metal metal, the PCB design must have copper under the crystal, and this part has a good electrical connection to the complete ground (through a porous ground). Advantages of laying ground under the FS Tech clock: The circuits inside the crystal oscillator generate RF currents. If the crystal is encased in a metal case, the DC power source discharges the transient current generated by the case through RF radiation through the ground plane, referenced to the DC voltage and the RF current circuit within the crystal.

    http://www.lacartes.com/business/FS-Technology/…

    fs tech
In short, the metal casing is a single-ended antenna, and the nearest image layer, the ground plane layer, sometimes has two or more radiation coupling effects, as the RF current to the ground.

The bottom of the PCB crystal is also conducive to heat dissipation
The clock circuit and crystal ground will provide an image plane that reduces the common mode currents of the associated crystal and clock circuit, thereby reducing RF emissions. Ground can also absorb differential mode RF currents. This plane must be connected to the complete ground plane through multiple points and through multiple holes, which provides low impedance. To improve the effect of the ground plane, the clock circuit of FS Technology should be close to the ground plane. Since most of the surface mount crystals are packaged in plastic, the SMT packaged crystal has more RF energy radiation than the metal shell crystal, and the RF current in the crystal will radiate into the space and be coupled with other devices.

    Circuit Board Introduction-FS Technology

    August 15, 2022 in Hong Kong ⋅ ⛅ 30 °C

Circuit board is a kind of electronic circuit, which is very common in our life. There are such items in computers, mobile phones and refrigerators. Printed circuit board is also called pcb board aluminum substrate, high frequency board, ultra-thin circuit board, ultra-thin circuit board, Printed (copper etching technology) circuit boards, etc., are the supports for electronic components and the provider of circuit connections for electronic components. The most common printed circuit boards use the method of printing etching resists to produce circuit patterns and circuits, so they are called printed circuit boards or printed circuit boards. Because people want smaller products, mobile phones are getting smaller and smaller, computers are getting smaller and smaller, and the circuit boards of FS Technology have become more and more refined. With the advent of the 21st century, production technology has become more and more developed. The vast majority of PCBs now use etch resists (lamination or coating), and after exposure and development, PCBs are made by etching.
The working principle of FS technology pcb
PCB is manufactured by many processes, mainly including the following processes, pads, electrical boundaries, mounting holes, vias, components, connectors, wires, filling, etc. If the pcb is distinguished according to the number of layers, it can be divided into the following common types: pcb single-layer board (Single Layer PCB), pcb double-layer board (Double Layer PCB) and pcb multi-layer board (Multi Layer PCB) three types . The main processes of these pcbs have the following functions, each of which is essential:

    https://fspcba.seesaa.net/article/488573435.htm…

There are metal vias and non-metal vias, where metal vias are used to connect component pins between layers - vias

    for fixing pcb-mounting holes

Components used for connection between pcbs. -connector

Used to determine the size of FS Technology's pcb, all components on the pcb must not exceed this boundary - electrical boundary

Metal Hole-Pad for Soldering Component Pins

Electrical network copper film-conductor for connecting component pins

Copper plating for ground network can effectively reduce impedance-filling

    FS technology pcb production method
Although there are many methods of processing and making PCBs, the traditional rapid board making methods can be mainly divided into two categories: physical methods and chemical methods:

    https://fspcba.seesaa.net/article/488695472.htm…

    ① Physical method:
By using many utensils and power tools, the copper that is not needed on the circuit board is manually engraved. This method is not very good, time-consuming and labor-intensive, and has low accuracy. Of course, it is applicable if your circuit board design is relatively simple, but not for complex circuit boards.

Features: It is labor-intensive and time-consuming, the precision is not easy to control and there is irreversibility, and the operation requirements are very high. With the development of science and technology, fewer and fewer people use this method, and people are more inclined to use the chemical method.

    ② Using chemical methods:
This method is currently the most used method by FS Technology. People etch away unnecessary copper in a corrosive solution by covering a protective layer on a blank copper clad laminate. Of course, technology has made us more and more advanced. We have developed many ways to achieve the protective layer, the most traditional way of hand painting method, the method of pasting customized self-adhesive, the method of film sensitization, and the method developed in 2010. Thermal transfer printing PCB board method.

Features: The process is relatively complex, but the precision is controllable. It is the most widely used rapid plate-making method at present, but there are still many problems.

    https://www.dclog.jp/en/8617247/576771401

    ③ Hand painting:
Manually draw the shape of the circuit on the blank copper clad laminate with a soft pen or a hard pen. After drying, it can be put into the solution for direct corrosion.

    ④ Paste the sticker:
There are all kinds of stickers in the world that are made into strips and discs. Different stickers are combined on the blank circuit board as needed, and they can be corroded after they are glued.

    ⑤ Film sensitivity:
    printed circuit board

The PCB circuit board diagram is printed on the film by a laser printer, and the blank CCL is pre-coated with a layer of photosensitive material (coated CCL is sold in the market), and it can be exposed, developed, fixed and cleaned in a darkroom environment. Corrosion in solution.

    https://fspcba.tamaliver.jp/e489738.html

    ⑥ Thermal transfer:
The circuit is directly printed on the blank circuit board by the FS technology thermal transfer printer, and then put into the corrosive solution to corrode.

To sum up: the previously used physical plate-making method is labor-intensive, time-consuming and low in precision, while the chemical rapid plate-making method has controllable precision, but the process is complex and not environmentally friendly. Regardless of whether it is a physical method or a chemical method, both of them require high operating skills, so neither can be regarded as a good method that can help engineers achieve "fast" board making.

Repair Air Conditioning Circuit Board -

    September 2, 2022 in Hong Kong ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Summary: As we all know, in winter and summer, air conditioners generally need heating and cooling almost every day, so long-term use will inevitably cause some minor problems. Many failures are caused by damaged air conditioner PCBs. So, what are the maintenance methods for common faults of air conditioner PCB? What are the precautions for air conditioning circuit board maintenance?

    https://www.cos.youth4work.com/FS-Technology/ne…

    1. Circuit:
    (1) If there is a problem with the power supply circuit of the air conditioner PCB, it will be displayed in the form of a blown fuse, which directly indicates that the circuit is short-circuited.
    (2) The resistance value can be detected with the ohm plug of the multimeter to judge the short circuit part of the FS technology. After finding the short-circuit part, please replace and repair it in time.

    2. FS Technology uses temperature detection circuit:
    (1) When the temperature of the thermistor is low, the resistance value is large; on the contrary, the higher the temperature, the smaller the resistance; the resistance value of 25 degrees is about 5-20.

    Air Conditioning PCB Repair-fs Technology
    (2) It can be measured with the ohm plug of the multimeter. If the measured resistance value is small or infinite, it proves that the thermistor is damaged and must be replaced immediately.

    https://fspcba.prtls.jp/entry.html?did=91c93a2e…

    3. Receiver circuit:
    (1) Use the DC acceleration of the multimeter to directly measure the ground voltage of the power supply terminal and the signal terminal of the receiving terminal. The normal electrode value is +5 volts and the signal electrode voltage is +2.5 volts.
    (2) If the value is wrong, it should be that the receiving head is damaged or the capacitor is defective. Remove them one by one and find out how to maintain them.

    4. The crystal oscillator circuit of FS Technology:
    (1) After the air conditioner is turned on, use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the two pins of the quartz crystal oscillator, the value is about +2.2 volts; if it is lower than 1.5 volts, the circuit has a problem of stopping vibration.
    (2) The quartz crystal tube can be removed and judged by the ohm plug of the multimeter. If it shows an open circuit, it means that the quartz crystal tube is good; if it is a short circuit, the crystal is damaged.
    CPU error.

    Multilayer circuit board repair-fs technology

    https://fspcba.livejournal.com/401.html

The three conditions of power supply voltage +5V, reset voltage and clock pulse signal are necessary conditions for the normal operation of the CPU of the circuit board, otherwise the CPU will not work normally. Therefore, a multimeter can be used to detect the voltage of its working state. If the voltage value is normal and the whole machine does not work, it can be judged that the CPU chip is damaged. If the CPU fails, just replace the CPU.

The Most Complete PCB Assembly (PCBA) Pr

    January 4, 2023 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 8 °C

    Step 1: Solder Paste Printing
Solder paste printing is the first step in PCBA processing. We apply solder paste to the area of the printed circuit board where components need to be assembled. This step is accomplished by applying solder paste on the stainless steel template, which corresponds to the circuit board, and the solder paste drips from the holes of the template onto the PCB. 96.5% tin is gray and it contains 3% silver and 0.5% copper. In order to protect the environment, FS Technology uses lead-free solder paste. The solder paste will be heated and melted in step 3 and form a strong joint
    https://www.fs-pcba.com/
Step 2: Pick and Place of Components
The second step of the PCBA processing flow is to place the components on the PCB, which is completed by a high-speed SMT placement machine. At design time, the PCB designer creates a file, which is used to control the SMT device. The file identifies the X, Y coordinates of the PCB assembly, and thanks to this information, the pick and place machine accurately places the SMD components on top of the solder paste through the vacuum nozzle.
    https://www.fs-pcba.com/smt-pcba/
At the beginning, humans completed the picking and placement of components by manual soldering, but this is obviously not good for large-volume orders. In order to ensure fast turnaround, we use SMT assembly machines, which can ensure the consistency and accuracy of PCBA.

Step 3: Reflow oven melts and cures solder paste
We need to use a reflow oven to melt and solidify the solder paste. It is best to use equipment with ten temperature zones for this process. The PCB is transferred to the reflow oven through the docking station. The oven can generate a maximum temperature of 250 degrees Celsius, which is enough to completely melt the solder paste. The melted solder paste will form a joint at the junction of the PCB and the component, forming a strong solidified solder joint after entering the cooler, which will create a permanent joint between the SMD component and the PCB.
    https://www.fs-pcba.com/pcb-short-circuit/
    Step 4: QC Check
Due to the influence of many factors, the soldering quality of the circuit board may be poor. Since the circuit board is an essential component in electronic equipment, no matter how small the error is, it will lead to a circuit board short. Therefore, we need to use a variety of detection methods to ensure its quality.

    Manual Inspection
Almost all formal PCBA processing companies will require operators to conduct detailed and comprehensive PCB manual inspections. For a well-equipped assembly plant, the purpose of manual inspection is just a guarantee. Different components are installed on the PCBA board, while SMD patch components are smaller, and visual inspection of the circuit board may cause inaccurate detection due to fatigue of technicians. This detection method is more friendly to DIP components.
    https://www.fs-pcba.com/aoi-inspection/
    AOI Optical Inspection
In high-volume assembly orders, AOI inspection is considered effective. This detection method refracts light through the PCBA solder joints, and observes the solder joints from multiple angles to ensure consistency with the standard board. The biggest advantage of this detection method is that it is fast and can process batch orders in a short time.

    X-Ray Inspection:
X-ray machines allow operators to observe the internal structure of printed circuit boards to find defects in their inner layers. This kind of testing equipment requires customers to pay extra fees, and usually we use it in complex and advanced circuit boards. If your assembly plant does not have skilled inspectors, please do not attempt this method of PCB inspection as it may result in rework or scrapped PCBs.
    https://www.fs-pcba.com/what-are-smd-components/
    Step 5: Component Soldering
    Component introduction
The PCB itself does not function and provides a carrier for electrical connections to electronic components. Various components are installed on different PCBA boards, including DIP components and SMD components.

DIP components are a larger and more common circuit board component that are mounted to a circuit board through through hole assembly. These holes are classified as plated through holes (PTH) and non-plated through holes (NPTH). The operator passes the pins of the DIP component through the holes in the PCB. These holes are connected to other holes and vias with copper traces. When these DIP components are inserted and soldered on the PCB, they make electrical connections with other holes in the same PCB as the designed circuit.
    https://www.fs-pcba.com/reflow-soldering/
SMD components are the most popular electronic components in modern electronic equipment. The IC chip we often say is one of the SMD components. These components are soldered on the surface of the PCB in the form of patches. With the development of miniaturization trend, SMT assembly technology has gradually replaced DIP assembly.

    Welding type
The three most common soldering processes are manual soldering, wave soldering and reflow soldering.

Manual soldering is a way for electronics enthusiasts to make their own PCBA boards. Electronic enthusiasts insert the pins of the DIP component into the holes of the PCB, and then solder the pins on the soldering surface to death by a welding machine.
    https://www.fs-pcba.com/wave-soldering/
Reflow soldering is usually used in the SMT assembly process, which can easily complete the soldering of SMD components and ensure that these components are not damaged. When you choose a PCBA processing factory, please pay attention to whether the reflow soldering equipment used by the service provider is in ten temperature zones.
Wave soldering is an upgraded version of manual soldering, which can complete the soldering work automatically. Once the PTH components are placed on the PCB, the PCB is placed on a conveyor belt and moved to a dedicated oven. Here, a wave of molten solder splashes onto the bottom layer of the PCB, where the component leads are located. This will solder all pins at once.

    Step 6: PCB Functional Test
When the PCBA is manufactured we need to test it. Functional test is an essential PCB test, which refers to checking whether the assembled PCBA can operate according to the design.

If any parameter of the PCBA shows unacceptable results, discard or scrap the PCBA following company standard procedures. The testing stage is very important because it determines the success or failure of the whole PCBA process.
