    • ‘Cause we Can Can Can ☀️🍷🏨💃🏼

      June 23, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Slept in this morning and went across the road to Starbucks for a leisurely breakfast. We packed our bags and rolled across to Maidavale Marriot Hotel for a ‘Staycation’ treat 🍾

We purchased the package where we get free drinks 🍹 & nibbles from 530 to 830 and complimentary coffees & non alcoholic throughout the day. We have full access to the gym, pool and saunas which I spent a couple of hours making use of this afternoon. (Not the gym 🤫).

It has been so relaxing 😎 just to chill out and enjoy the luxurious atmosphere. I’d say we both deserve it after all the planning, activities & sightseeing.

The only downside is that we are surrounded by foghorn American 🇺🇸 folk 🫤👎🏻

      Everything else is lovely 🥰

6.30pm UPDATE! We are at the complimentary nibbles guess what? It’s hideous! I cannot tell a lie:

      Bags of crisps
      Green salad
      Chicken 🐔 nuggets (dry)
      Samosas (dry)
      Black Forest cake

The yanks are loving 🥰 it and DEMANDING more! We are drinking as much wine 🍷 as is humanly possible to block it (and them) out!
      🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
      🤨🤨🤨
      🤣🤣🤣
      🤮🤮🤮
One of the cranky yankies demanded lemon cake because “…I can’t eat chocolate 🍫 cake 🍰…”
      Fucking wanker! 👎🏻

So. Richard & I looked at each other and said: let’s get outta here and go see a musical 🎵 🎭

Within 10 minutes we had purchased great seats for MOULIN ROUGE, ran for the tube 🚇 and was at the Piccadilly Theatre 🎭 in the heart ❤️ of London in 15 minutes!

      …Because we CAN, CAN, CAN!

      Day 3 - May 21

      May 21 in England ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Today was a typical English day. We started the day with a Full English breakfast (actually we had a half) at a family run cafe. Feeling full of energy and ready to tackle a day of exploring, we set off for a day of visiting museums. We began with a lovely walk through Hyde Park with stops at Kensington Palace and Kensington Gardens. A particularly moving moment when we wandered the Sunken Garden that Princess Diana used to enjoy, and saw the monument that her sons commissioned in her honour for what would have been her 60th birthday. From there we encountered some swans and ducks in the pond, and a particularly mischievous swan who tried to steal from my backpack. We enjoyed and learned so much during our tour at the Royal Albert Hall, an ncredible feat of engineering and fascinating historical stories were a few of the highlights. We then continued to the Museum of Natural History and the Victoria and Albert Museum, both of these were interesting but didn't hold the same appeal for me. Mother Nature did her part to ensure we experienced a true British day with a downpour to walk back to our hotel. Dinner at the local pub concluded a quintessential British day.Read more

    • Day 40

      Full Circle

      June 1 in England ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

I have gone full circle and arrived back in London ready for my journey home.
I went to the Royal Albert Hall last night hoping to catch a concert but nothing was on. It wasn’t even open to have a tour. It was also too late in the afternoon to visit any of the museums as by the time I would have got to the front of the entry queue it would be closing time. I had to settle for a walk in Hyde park in near storm conditions.
It has been a fabulous month and thank you for coming along on my unpredictable journey. Stay tuned for my next adventure.

    • Day 11

      London!

      May 20 in England ⋅ ☀️ 52 °F

We made it to the Capital City! Soon after checking into our hotel at Charing Cross, we changed our shoes and started walking. We walked along the Thames to Tower Bridge, we walked back to Charing Cross, we took a break and rubbed our feet, then we walked to Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Palace of Westminster before kicking off our shoes and calling it a night. Tomorrow, I think we'll ride the "Hop on Hop off" bus just to save our soles!Read more

We thought it was because people had found out that we were visiting London.

But we later found out the Champions League Finals are going on 🤪!

    • Queens (…VERY GAY) pageant 🌈

      June 5, 2022 in England ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

I could’ve sworn, if no one had told me otherwise, that I was at the gay Mardi Gras! I have never seen so many sparkle and glitter and sequins, feathers and baubles! 🌈🌈🌈 Even an ABBA float blasting out “Dancing Queen”!

The atmosphere around Trafalgar Square, where I finally found somewhere to stand with a decent view was absolutely electric ⚡️ The crowd went wild for each of the buses which represented a decade in our Queens fantastical reign! Yes, I would have seen more on TV but to be part of the crowd waving my union Jack 🇬🇧 was like something you would only dream about!

It is hard to describe how it feels to be in London and attend every single event and be part of the crowd worshipping our Queen 👑It was magical and I will never forget it for the rest of my life! There are no words, sometimes, for experiences…

I am so thankful that I didn’t have any phone to distract me when I was out amongst the crowd either… It made it even more special to actually live right there, in that moment! I swore that I would get here for this if I could and I can’t believe that I made it happen! It is more than I can ever really imagine! I am going to re-live every moment on the telecasts when I get back home and will pinch myself remembering that I was actually there!

One funny moment today… There were obviously a lot of short people in the crowd who couldn’t see anything so they held their phone up high above their head… One husband said to his wife, what the fuck! You’re gonna look back at that in 70 years time and say why did I take that picture? You just took a picture of the street sweeper sweeping up horse 🐎 shit! Fuck I laughed! Later, she got me to check what she was taking a picture of! I told her, it’s okay this time it was one of the buses! Ha ha 😜😜😜

Something else to note… Every single minority, race, colour, and socio-economic group have nothing but praise, honour, care, excitement and true love, honest reflection and pride in Queen Elizabeth… I cannot even think of anyone who commands such respect from every single group…

Every single television station, every single newspaper, every radio station and every pub, shop, window and balcony had messages of goodwill for the platinum jubilee. It is hard to explain and I can truly say you had to be here… And I was ❤️❤️❤️
If Ed Sheeran tribute doesn’t bring a tear to your eye then you probably should check if you’re human! LOL 🇬🇧❤️👑🥰😘

And then! To top it all off! The Queen made a triumphant appearance on the balcony to the absolute and undisputed love of every single person there for her! ❤️❤️❤️ Truly a historic moment ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

      Simply:
      A dream 💭 come true!

    • Day 3

      London

      February 2 in England ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Second day in London did start with me doing my assignment which we didn't capture in photos (is on a tiktok later), but luckily I finished and we got to walk around. We went to St Dunstan in the East Church Garden which was a cool decrepit church. Next we went to a random church we found that had a cafe and a dog inside who is our new best friend. We visited St Paul's but we were too late for the tours. We went to Postman Park just for the Pat joke and some really sad plaques of heros. And finished with a Harry Potter store which Emily spend too much money in!Read more
