Today, we got the oil changed, topped off the gas and had a nice walk at a local lake. And finally it was time to get on the ferry!
Our first full day at sea was spent meandering up the Canadian Inside Passage where a cruise ship cannot fit. It was amazing and even more fun because of the people we met, especially Mari and Glynes.
Today's cruising was much more muted with a heavy marine layer and some rain. Made us appreciate yesterday's whale show even more. Stopped at 2 remote coastal towns via a very narrow channel!
After a very early departure from the ferry at 3 am, we grabbed a quick nap in the car at our campsite then went exploring. We saw the Mendenhall Glacier from both the west and east side.
Landed in Gustavus at 12:30 expecting "extreme snow" per Weather Bug; instead we had a glorious day with a little sunshine, a little rain and great hiking around the Cove and Lodge.
Spent almost 8 hours on a boat tour of the Tarr Inlet and all of the federally protected lands within
After our boat trip, we explored the Tlingit culture still present in Bartlett Cove. Locals, Sean & Maggie, whom we met on the ferry took us for a tour of Gustavus, pop. 640.
This afternoon we drove the Haines highway as far as Haines Jctn shock had is camping in the Yukon Territories tonight. We heard live music as we had a nutritious dinner of local adult beverages andRead more
