      Dakar

      ..and Monument de la Renaisance Africaine.. Huuuuuuuge! 😯 Very impressive, build for 30 million dollars, designed by a senegalese architect, paid by senegalise government, but the construction-contract went to Northkorea.. 🤔🧐

      Und es geht wieder los

      Nach 100 Jahre Einsamkeit geht's into the heart of darkness. Also nicht ganz genau, aber vielleicht ein bisschen dran. Bis jetzt bin ich optimistisch und die Prophezeiung des Jahr des Drachens geht voll auf. Es wird gestreikt und ich hab den Flug von München wo gearbeitet wird.

      Bis Madrid läuft alles gut und das Abenteuer Senegal kann los gehen. Immerhin mein Flieger nach Dakar ist nicht voll so hat man gemütlich Platz.

      Es ist laut, warm und chaotisch eigentlich alles wie immer. Dakar ist heiß, aber trocken. Überraschend gut ist die Luft und es geht fast immer ein Wind. Ich bin mal wieder pünktlich zum Ramadan in einem muslimischen Land, aber immerhin gab's bisher noch kein Stromausfall.

      Direkt vom ersten Taxi Richtung Innenstadt werde ich ziemlich abgezogen. Jedoch ist es nur Lehrgeld und kein zweites Atemloch. Dakar ist spannend. Die meistens Straßen sind einfach Sand und es gibt viel Fisch :) irgend wo zwischen SUV und Pferdekarren. Viele Ziegen am Boden und Adler?! zumindest große Greifvögel in der Luft.

      Wir schauen uns Goree an eine vorgelagerte Insel mit depremirender Vergangenheit. Von hier wurden viele Sklaven in über den Atlantik verkauft. Sonst ist vieles hier mal wieder ein bisschen lost place romantik. Cool sind die Kunstgalerien der Stadt! Erschreckend die Klassengeseschaft zwischen Slam und fancy Restaurants.

      Im Schnitt waren wir in zwei, sagen wir mal lebhafte Diskussionen, involviert pro Tage. Das Gemüht ist aufgeheizt. Vielleicht Ramadan. Aber das sich Menschen im Museum fast prügeln ist dann doch eher selten. Der Verkehr ist crazy. Also Glück das wir noch keinen Unfall hatten. Die Stadt ist sehr weitläufig und wir fahren viel Taxi. Dabei wird gerne gehubt und zwei mal fast ein Roller umgeholzt. Klassisch links rechts überholt und dritte Spur aufgemacht. Richtige Entscheidung kein Auto zu leihen.

      Wir waren noch bei einem Leuchtturm mit Restaurant für einen Sonnenuntergangsdrink sehr nett. Wobei auffällt das Leben ist recht teuer für die Menschen hier. Aber zumindest in Dakar gibt es auch viel Geld. Viele große Autos, fancy Franzosen. Cool ist wenn man französisch kann kommt man sehr gut durch.      Baca lagi

      Day 119 - 6th Day to Senegal

      It has been well documented that Spanish galleons, en route to the New World, voyaged first to the Canary Islands in order to harness the northeasterly trade for the trans-Atlantic crossing. These winds still blow today.
      And in the 21st century, scientists are observing that they not only give sailing vessels a boost; they also carry millions of tons of Sahara sands across the ocean.
      The Sahara Desert spans some three million square miles, almost the size of the continental US. Each year, 182 million tons of it is lifted from the desert dunes and transported in a west-southwest direction some 3,000 miles. It is estimated that 27 million tons settles in the Amazon basin, the world's largest rainforest. This global cross-pollination of sorts adds phosphorus, nitrogen and iron to the jungle's soils— nutrients that are often lost to rain run-off and flooding.
      NASA and the French space agency CNES track this migration of sand through CALIPSO, the Cloud-Aerosol Lidar and Infrared Pathfinder Satellite Observation orbiter. Since 2006, it has kept watch on the movement of the planet's particles, miniscule when taken alone but forming massive plumes when they take to the atmosphere. The Amazon is not the only ecosystem that benefits. In the Atlantic, the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico, plankton feed on the fallen dust. Their growth provides food for other marine animals. It has also been
      gested that atmospheric sands block sunlight, which cools the oceans and may weaken the strength of hurricanes.
      The idea of using part of the Sahara desert for a solar farm to produce energy and lessen our dependency on fossil fuels is thought to have negative consequences to this ecological balance discussed. Pictures are from Senegal.      Baca lagi

      Tour - African Renaissance Monument

      On the way to the Pink Lake we stopped over at the magnificent African Renaissance Monument built on top of a hill and shoots 50m into the sky. Momument was built at a cost of $27 million by a former president who contracted it out to the Koreans. It is now the no 1 landmark in Dakar.Baca lagi
