    slow day

    March 25, English Channel ⋅ 🌬 11 °C

Slow start after studying our next route ( another possible long long day) we decided we needed half a day off to rest our feet & legs. Lovely stroll along the prom of Pleneuf val Andre , quite upmarket resort , towards the port . Quiet marina , deep blue Ceanothus , shutters , wisteria starting to flower , a few restaurants . Luckily ‘La Voile ‘ ( the sail) open! Crispy whitebait , wow! Restaurant busy for a Monday , we chilled here until time for our bus. Walked ( climbed!!) from Morieux to Hillion along a river which opened up
to a huge expanse of sand and the estuary. Horses being exercised on the sand , birds , an amazing nature reserve , so so still & quiet. Arrived at our basement flat….in quiet town , with supermarket nearby….result! Our fav ‘Tone’ omlette for tea 🐓🥚❤️

    Final walk to Saint Brieuc

    March 26, English Channel ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Early start to catch our train to Roscoff . Still , cold morning walking from our little village, kids getting off to school, kept to quiet country road to join the GR34 for the last time. Walking past farms, small chapel , a few dog walkers, a swan protecting its lake . Found our familiar red & white stripe on a wooden post and walked along a disused railway line flanking the estuary , a few bird watchers , woodland walk , following the river into Saint Bruiec and the quayside; fishing boats, yachts, cafes. Steep steep climb up into the centre ville to the station. Clean , comfortable train ( on time) to Roscoff via Morlaix and bus to familiar Roscoff . Cute hotel , beers to celebrate and writing notes on our favourite beaches, breakfasts, dinner, stretch of coastline . 🥾🥾Read more
