Slated for closure?

I cycled past what was one of the world's largest slate mines, with some operations on site still going.

The steepest hills so far this morning meant pushing the bike but the views were great.
I stopped at Dolgellau for tea and then passed this toll bridge on the disused railway path to Barmouth.
A mile of railway bridge, mostly wooden, got me to Barmouth.
Liked this addition to a dry stone wall en route. Plus some photos of the views on the way to Porthmadog.
Ten miles before Porthmadog, disaster stuck. I got a puncture and when I put the new tyre in realised that my pump didn't work. I was in the middle of nowhere so went for the 'ride on a flat' optionもっと詳しく
I limped into Porthmadog but a brilliant bike shop means the game is back on for tomorrow!
Porthmadog has a British Rail station plus three heritage railways so is basically a trainspotters dream. Whilst obviously not a trainspotter I, er, took these snaps as I happened to be there when aもっと詳しく
