    Broome (camel ride at sunset)

    August 25, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Part of Marley's (extended) birthday celebrations included a camel ride at sunset on Cable Beach (thanks to Grandma and Grandpa).
We headed down to Cable Beach just after 4pm and met our team of camels and their handlers. We got our briefing on how to get on board and then we were assigned to our camels for the ride.
Jen and Marley were warned that their camel was a bit vocal as people got on, and that he liked to get up on his feet but not even the handler was prepared for how quickly he decided to stand up - as Marley was trying to get on! Luckily the handler had quick reflexes and yanked Marley out of harm's way! After we all had lurched up into standing position we headed down to the hard sand to stroll along the water's edge. Meg was a bit rattled by the initial few minutes of the ride and wanted to hop off but she soon got into the groove.
We headed down the beach amongst the 4WDs and cruised along at a leisurely 5km/hr to enjoy yet another amazing sunset. After thanking our camels with a carrot (or 3!) we enjoyed dinner at Zanders overlooking the beach and darkening sky.
