I started living van life in 2020 after the 1st covid lockdown was eased.

Walked Sam up to an disused colliery outside of Elsecar this morning. Looks like it’s been turned into a private residence then back to the van for breakfast before heading off
back to the outskirts of Doncaster as I’d missed monk Bretton priory that was on the list of places to go and as it was a nice day it was perfect for the drone. As it was quite and empty I took the opportunity to open up the van and air it out whilst I had lunch and Sam layer in the sun on the grass. This afternoon I moved up county to near Huddersfield and visited the Yorkshire sculpture park. £6 to get in and park and a great day out but if you park down the road in the village hall and use the public footpath that just so happens to cut across the sculpture park it’s free. Another cold and windy day with wet intervals. Decided to leave Doncaster and visit Elsecar. Found a nice spot to park on the top of a hill overlooking the reservoir. Had a walk down the river and through the park to Elsecar heritage centre. The New Yard’s courtyards feature independent shops, artisan studios and an antiques centre full of treasures. I even brought myself a little tilly lamp for £10. part of the old train line and the oldest pump house Used to good to go app to get myself a £3 Sunday roast from a local pub Czytaj więcej

Went to visit Doncaster museum today as it a grey cold and wet outside but it was closed for refurbishment so Left the outskirts of Doncaster and headed to Barnsley. Visited the market kitchen food hall in the glass house shopping centre. And had a walk round town before heading back to the van along the river and through Dearne valley park. Coming across an old canal turning basin and lock pump house.

Moved on today. Only a short distance down the rd on the outskirts of Doncaster to walk along the river Don.

Spent a couple of days in a side road next to the castle with some nice walks around the grounds and woodlands. Down the river taking in a viaduct then leading on to a basin in the river with a nice pub and canal boats. Conisbrough itself is a small town not many shops and a few pubs. Roche Abbey Yorkshire

After living van life for 12 months starting in 2020 I then got a seasonal job Day in 2021 for 8 months over summer and I’m now on the road again
Day 1 the start of the Yorkshire adventure.
Arrived at Roche abbey between Doncaster and Sheffield near maltby around 3.30. Walked round the Abbey ruins and along the river to a couple of small waterfalls. Then along the woodland footpath following the river. Me and sam were out for a couple of hours and walked 15.600 steps. That’s about 6 miles. Whilst we were out I discovered a level parking spot at the back of the woods. All cosy for the night. Hopefully catch a sunrise round the abbey with the drone in the morning. Czytaj więcej
