Kasane Airstrip

Early rise, packed up and off up to the northern part of Botswana. For the first time on this trip, it rained, and it was cool. We travelled through the Chobe National Park. Apparently, you are not supposed to stop anywhere along this section of the road while travelling through the park. There are a couple of 'rest' areas but they have big signs saying something like - Stopping and exiting your vehicle could result in you being eaten by lions and your car trampled and destroyed by elephants. If one doesn't get you, the other will!
Africa is far more dangerous than Australia. Everything here is out to get you. Trees and shrubs can kill you by simply touching or using its wood for a campfire. People have died by the poison in the smoke from using certain wood at their camp. Even vegen animals like Hippos will kill you by biting you in half. They won't eat you, just wrip you to pieces for the fun of it.
We set up camp at Tiou Safari Lodge in Kasane, had lunch, and went on a river cruise down the Chobe River. The river borders Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. It ends up at the Victoria Falls.
Along the river, we saw crocodiles, hippos, buffalos, and countless birds. It was a lovely way to end the day along with a good dinner.
It was our last night having to set up camp as tomorrow we plan to be at the Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.
We will be there for 3 nights before flying to Johannesburg and then home.Read more
