    Bord-Programm - nix mit Langeweile

    Hatten wir mal naiv gedacht, eine Schiffsreise hätte viel Raum für kreative Langeweile parat, werden wir bereits am ersten Tag mit einem „vollen Terminplan“ überrascht.

    Britische Jungferninseln

    Nachdem wir am Sonntag an Bord des Schiffs Costa Pacifica gegangen sind, sind wir von den Dimensionen eines Cruisers beeindruckt. Unvorstellbar riesig. Ein ganz neues Gefühl, das uns jetzt bis Italien begleiten wird, stellt sich ein. Ein Luxuriöses. 😄 Und zwei mal täglich ein vier Gänge Menü serviert zu bekommen, ist total irre aber sehr lecker. Heute an Land der Britischen Jungferninsel Tortola besichtigen wir einen kleinen botanischen Garten in der Hauptstadt Road Town und sind aufgrund der kulinarischen Vorzüge natürlich auch schnell wieder an Bord. 😂 Und bei dem tollen Essen müssen wir echt aufpassen, dass das hier kein food blog wird 😂😂😂.Read more

    Still here😂

    Currently still in the BVIs, exploring numerous small islands. It's much quieter now than during the Christmas days. Discovered some cool spots on Jost Van Dyke, including the tiniest sand island we've ever seen. Tomorrow, attempting entry into the USA at Saint Thomas. Heard it might be a bit tricky with the authorities here, but we'll see. If successful, our next stop is Puerto Rico.😎⛵️🏝️Read more

    ⛵️🏝️🐬🐋🎄

    We set sail on a 32-hour journey from Nevis to the BVIs, embracing the unhurried pace dictated by the scarce wind. Netflix and intermittent naps kept us company. Tomas, growing impatient, revved up the motor until realizing the diesel tank was nearly empty.

    In the dark, curious dolphins paid us a visit once again, bringing joy to our tired hearts. In the early morning hours, our luck soared as we spotted not just one, but two humpback whales! 🤩

    Arriving in the BVIs, weary and hungry, Tomas insisted on adorning our Christmas tree. The result is a sight to behold, marking the end of our incredible journey! 😁💪🎄    Read more

    Heute sind wir in Road Town

    Heute 10.00 Uhr sind wie auf der Insel Tortola angekommen,in der Nacht hat man schon gemerkt das man auf einen Schiff ist.🤪🙈 Für mich war es eine ganz schöne Schaukelei.
    Um 13.00 Uhr geht unser Ausflug los.
    Wir wurden abgeholt und sind mit einen Safaribus, erst in die Berge und dann ans Meer an die Long Bay Beach. Das Wasser war ein Traum aber die Brandung und die gefährliche Rückströmung waren nicht ohne. Nach zweieinhalb Stunden baden ging es wieder zurück.    Read more

    Day 18 Tue - Tortola

    March 25 in British Virgin Islands ⋅ 🌬 28 °C

    Aaahhhh .....it is raining! So a late start to Brewers Beach, which the guide book said was a bay of pure sand and turtles with Kates beach shack providing a warm welcome to the many tourists that wanted a more authentic experiance. We should have realised when none of the Taxi's wanted to ho there! So when we were dropped off next to burnt out car and a derelict cafe with four other tourists waiting to leave as the beach had more rocks than sand, we were concerned, plus our taxi driver was not going to come back for us! After it stopped raining and Kate had cooked ad a fish sandwich we walked further around the bay and thankfully the beach turned into pure sand and the sun came out. Once in the sea it was a lovely shallow beach do you could swim out along way. But no Turtles and we had to leave early to share a taxi to ensure we made it back to port.
    As we sailed away from the island they have always have music on the outside veranda so we had a drink and met a very chatty couple in there 70's who the husband had Parkinsons but was not letting him stop playing Tennis and travelling. We guess a quarter of the ship were battling with some condition so most of the people we spoke to were understanding although we did have a few who were just not interested.    Read more

    Britische Jungferninseln

    In Tortola, der größten der Jungferninsel festgemacht, bevor die Sonne aufging.
    Unser Ausflug startete um 9:30 Uhr zum Fähranleger.
    Wir starteten unsere Reise nach Virgin Gorda vorbei an vielen unbewohnten kleinen Inseln und natürlich hab ich eurer Mutter eine Insel geschenkt.
    Witzel Island liegt westlich von Tortola ca 10 min Fahrt mit dem Schiff 😉
    Angekommen in Virgin Gorda aßen wir zu Mittag in der Leverick Bay mit Rumpunsch und Spezialitäten der Insel.
    Sehr lecker, ich habe noch nie so leckere Bohnen mit Reis gegessen.
    Danach ging es mit Jeeps in die Berge, um mal den Atlantik und das Karibische Meer gleichzeitig zu sehen.
    Eigentlich war geplant in "The Baths Nationalpark im Meer zu baden.
    Da der Wellengang so hoch war, wurde der Strand gesperrt. 😞
    Wir erforschten Höhlen und zwengten uns zwischen Felsen hindurch.
    Das war es aber Wert, um am Ende einen der schönsten Strände gesehen zu haben.    Read more

    Day 10

    Foxys Bar im Great Harbour

    Für einen Cocktail nach dem Abendessen liegen wir vor Anker im Great Harbor, einer Bucht, die pickeoacke voll mit gecharterten Katamaranen ist, die hier geschützt die Nach verbringen.

    Ein Tenderboot bring die wenigen Passagiere, die Lust dazu haben, rüber zum Strand, an dem eine Bar neben der anderen liegt. Auch ein paar Crewmitglieder, die keinen Dienst haben, nutzen den kurzen Landgang auf ein oder zwei Bier.

    Tina und Nicole begleiten halboffiziell den Landgang: sie waren beide noch nicht hier und die Kapitänin hat gesagt, sie sollen sich die Bars anschauen und genießen.
    Wir dürfen ihnen den ein oder anderen Cocktail ausgeben und haben sehr interessante Gespräche am Strand über ihren Beruf, das Arbeiten an Bord, Vereinbarkeit mit Famile, Werdegang und Träumen.

    Im letzten Tender geht es fröhlich zu. Michael Kerstin, Christian und ich versacken anschließend mit Lebensgeschichten noch schön in der Lidobar.    Read more

    Tortola, British Virgin Islands

    January 21 in British Virgin Islands ⋅ 🌬 27 °C

    A beautiful day in a typical Caribbean island.
    Breakfast on deck again, and then went for a walk round Roadtown where we had docked. Tortola is one of the less developed islands, but has changed considerably since we were here 15 or so years ago on our first Disney Cruise.

    There were way less chickens and the roads were better (a little).

    Going for a walk was nice, not too far and the weather was pleasant, not too hot, although a couple of rain showers for a few minutes but Palm trees make decent umbrellas.

    Caribbean islands definitely run on a different pace and have a more carefree attitude. That's my polite way of trying to explain why there were (relatively new) cars with weeds growing through them, and piles of rusty bikes.

    On the absolute plus side, there were still plenty of chickens running around. 🐓🐔🐤🐤🐤

    After a very light lunch, we were off on a catamaran for a snorkel trip at Norman Island. The go-pro pictures will follow after the holiday as we can't get them off til we're home, but there's a turtle video and plenty of fish.

    The trip over to and back from the Island was fun, the waves were fairly big and lots of water came through the windows.

    The snorkeling spot was nice, 3 caves to explore and quite a few fish.

    After snorkeling, we had a stop at a beach where there was a bar and some non-marine toilets (if you know, you know) , some people did shallow water snorkeling, but we just went for a stroll.

    Back to the ship and got to see the outside of the bea-u-tiful Disney Treasure from the water. We were hungry and salty-skinned when we got back, so grabbed a snack and a shower and then went to watch the magic act, Jessica Jane. She was pretty good, though one of the kid helpers got the instructions wrong and the mind-reading went a little awry. Still, it was fun.

    Dinner was the Pirates menu, as it was Pirate night, arrgghh 🏴‍☠️🦜☠️

    I chose the falafel - 3 giant balls. Balls-lady is back, baby. Dessert was a Macadamia nut and caramel cheesecake, with a side of Mickey bar. Can't believe we made it it to dinner 4 before I asked for one. 😆

    Our nightly addition to the towel menagerie was a rabbit. We're getting quite a little zoo in the room.    Read more
