    Zipaquira / Salzkathedrale

    Sonntag 09.02.
    Heute fahren wir Richtung Zipaquira. Auf der Hauptstraße nach Zipaquira ist uns zu viel Verkehr und so entscheiden wir uns für eine
    weiße Straße quer durch die Berge. Landschaftlich schön, bergauf, bergab. Die Straße ist mehr eine Piste
    als Straße und so brauchen wir für 50 km vier Stunden bis zur Kleinstadt Supata unserem Zwischenziel. Das erste was ins Auge sticht ist die riesige Betonkirche, sieht aus wie ein Bunker. Die Stadt, nicht berauschend. An der Tankstelle können wir nächtigen. Bei unserer Stadtrunde spricht uns Luzie ( 16 ), eine Austauschülerin aus Berlin an. Sie verbringt 10 Monate in Supata, in diesem Kaff. Respekt 👍Sie hat sich gefreut mal wieder deutsch zu sprechen, denn Touristen verirren sich hier her selten.
    Ihr Gastonkel bietet uns an, vor ihrem Haus sicher und ruhig zu parken, das nehmen wir natürlich gerne an.

    Kaum aus der Stadt , geht das Gehoppl weiter.
    In Zipaquira können wir auf dem Bus Parkplatz der Salzkathedrale übernachten

    Cucunubá in den Bergen.
    Cucunubá hat einen schönen Ortskern, kleine Häuser, schöne Kaffees und eine Bar. Übernachtung am Sportplatz .    Read more

    Supata

    February 10 in Colombia ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

    Sonntag, 9.2.
    Unser nächstes Ziel ist Zipaquira. Über die Hauptstraße Nr.50 wollen wir nicht fahren, da ist zuviel LKW-Verkehr, da kommen wir nicht vorwärts. Also nehmen wir die Nebenroute über Nimaima und Vergara. Eine enge, kurvige, schlechte Piste. Hier kommen wir auch nicht vorwärts, aber es fahren keine LKWs! Bis Supata brauchen wir fast 4 Stunden, es sind 50km! An der dortigen Tankstelle wollen wir übernachten, vorher drehen wir noch eine Dorfrunde. Da spricht uns ein blondes Mädl an, eine Austauschschülerin aus Berlin. Wir setzen uns zu Luzie und ihrem Gastonkel ins Café. Wir freuen uns, etwas von ihrem Leben hier zu erfahren. Der Onkel bietet uns an, bei ihm auf dem Grundstück zu übernachten. Für uns ist es besser auf der Straße vor dem Haus, da ist es eben. Wir werden zur Pizza eingeladen und haben einen netten Abend mit Luzie.

    Montag, 10.2.
    Weiter geht's nach Zipaquira. Zuerst nehmen wir die falsche Straße, nachdem es immer schwieriger und schmieriger wird, drehen wir um und finden endlich die richtige, etwas bessere Straße. Es sind wieder nur 60km, aber wir brauchen
    gute 2 Stunden. In Zipaquira können wir auf dem Bus Parkplatz bei der Salzkathedrale über Nacht stehen.    Read more

    Bogota streetart

    Ein Tag in Bogota reicht. Wie jede Metropole mit über 7 Millionen Einwwohnern erleidet sie jeden Tag zweimal den Verkehrsinfarkt. Die Leute stehen morgens um 4 Uhr auf um gegen 8 Uhr an der Arbeit zu sein. Abends dasselbe zurück. Die wallpaintings sind beeindruckend.Read more

    Pass the Salt

    We left the watch-your-wallet hustle of downtown Bogota for the laid back countryside of Villa de Layve. Bogota is a sprawled city, like Sydney, so leaving the outskirts was like driving through Dural with the odd cow and market garden until eventually you leave the big smoke behind. We drove past the Nemocon Salt Mine which we explored on the way. It is the "First Wonder" of Colombia containing an elaborate cathedral plus a commercial centre.

    2.Werkstattbesuch - Bremsbeläge wechseln

    Bremsbeläge erneuern, das war eines unserer wichtigsten Werkstatt-Anliegen.

    In den vergangen 🗓️Monaten gab es einige Länder, vor Allem Bolivien und Peru,
    die durch viele, viele Höhenmeter und Serpentinen bezüglich Bremse einen ganz schönen Verschleiß gefordert haben.

    Mitgebracht haben wir die
    Bremsbeläge aus 🇩🇪Deutschland,
    nun brauchen wir nur noch eine entsprechende Werkstatt....

    Und ja, heute sollte es auch direkt noch klappen!😃 Wir sind froh, denn es war wirklich höchste Zeit!😬    Read more

    Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá

    What I had in my mind when I saw we were going to a salt cathedral is the typical thought of a cathedral in a cave that we've all seen many times. It's really pretty and acoustics in a cave are great.

    But what I didn't expect was this place. It was a spiritual journey through the rise and fall of Jesus, thirteen chapters that were expertly designed and constructed through the use of the mine. No human figures were carved into the 13 chapters, instead the symbol of the cross was used to depict Jesus.

    This is a still active mine, extracting 40 tonnes of salt per day. The sheer scale and impressiveness of this site is impossible to convey in pictures. Not to mention it is 120m underground too.

    Then when you think you've seen everything, the place continues with a more commercial side of it. Cafes and shops built into these huge chasms of where the salt was extracted. And a beauty and massage room that comes highly recommended apparently. Using the fine salt to help soothe and revitalise you in an extremely gorgeous setting. (I should be in their payroll). On its own, the retail side of this place was impressive.

    Salt makes an incredible reflector. There is an area of water that is only 10cm deep but with 80% salt and the reflection of the pool was literally mirror finish.

    We've seen some impressive cathedrals on this trip. But nothing compares to this.    Read more

    Nemocon

    Grosse journée ce samedi, j'ai commencé par une rando dans le désert de Checua à 20min du village de Nemocon en tooktook. Dépaysement total dans un parc plein de surprise et d'histoire sur les Muiscas (merci maria-josé pour les explications en espagnol et en anglais ahah)

    Suesca/Machetá/Bogotá

    After some tourism straight back to climbing. First stop was in Suesca, a small village at 2600m above sea. This altitude meant putting back on the warmer clothes and even take the rain jacket with us. The region around Bogotá is known for unpredictable weather and a lot of rain through out the whole year. Good thing, you still get to climb when it's raining :)
    Suesca is one of the oldest climbing crags in Colombia, basically where the climbing started. The style of the routes is very old school, requires a lot of technique, spaced bolting sometimes needs extra protection with some trad gear and the grading of the routes is very sandbagged!! Sending 7c/12d feels very good 😝
    Before getting there I was not sure if I would like the climbing there and felt quite intimidated. But turned out that we both really liked the climbing (just had to forget about grades). Santi, one of the locals and friend of our friend Josh (we were travelling with him in 🇺🇸&🇲🇽) showed us the best routes and introduced us to the local climbing scene and 🍻. Richi (an other friend of Josh) let us stay at his house even though he wasn't there and only met us at the bar for a quick chat. His house was great with a nice garden where we could park Vanbora. But as it was raining quite a lot we had a hard time getting out of the mud of his garden (that's when we decided go change our tires to all terrain ones). Not only we are feeling the altitude, Vanbora is also suffering a little bit. High altitude, mud and uphill is hard😅
    After 2 days it was time to move on to the next crag only 40min away.
    In Machetá it's less old school, climbing is steeper and it's much warmer because of less altitude. There are some very nice routes but unfortunately it was raining a lot so many of them got wet in the upper part. That's why we decided to leave 3 days earlier. A part from climbing it was so nice to get to know all the locals and see again our friend Angie whom we met in Mexico in the beginning of the year. She lives in Chía (next to Bogotá) and invited us to stay at her place. We had an amazing time with her and her family, went training together, explored the city, tasted delicious coffee and beer and enjoyed having a house for some days.     Catedral de Sal

    Heute hat der Papa der Familie mit uns einen Tagesausflug unternommen. Wir sind in eine Kathedrale in Zipaquirá (Catedral de Sal) gefahren, die in einer Salzmine in den Bergen liegt. Eine tolle Atmosphäre, eine interessante Ausstellung und natürlich tolle Bilder ⛰️Read more

    Heute haben wir tagsüber nicht so viel gemacht da wir sehr müde waren und die Schwester von Camilo ihren Geburtstag gefeiert hat.
    Abends sind wir dann mit Camilo und seiner Frau Natalia zu einem Restaurant gefahren. Was wir dort gesehen und erlebt haben, können wir gar nicht beschreiben. Das Restaurant erstreckt sich über 3 Straßen und überall gibt es versteckte Wege und Gassen, die es ganz schön schwer machen seinen Tisch wiederzufinden.
    Wir wurden (warum auch immer) als Ehrengäste des Abends ausgezeichnet und durften uns bei einer kleine Tanzeinlage beweisen. Schaut’s euch einfach an 🥳    Read more
