Day 7 - The Sunrise

Good morning Waddlers. Today I was up before the moon set (proof in the pictures) and the sun rose. I found a lounger at the beach and watched that big ball of fire rise out of the ocean. So cool.

The first rays threw pretty in pink to the clouds. Then the colors became beautiful orange. Sunrise was 6:12 yesterday and it was right on time. I am amazed at how fast this event happens. In 9 minutes the sun was fully crested above the horizon. We only get so many trips around the sun. We should stop and marvel at a few.

The water looked dark and the seaweed was rolling in. I tried to capture the seaweed within the waves. You can see some. The tractor hadn't been down the beach yet so the night seaweed was still hanging around. By the time I left he was out cleaning up.

Day 6 - Calling it a Day

I'm chill'n on the lounge sofa watching a group from Edmonton play Sequence. They caught me up on the battle of Alberta. GO OILERS! Leafs were beating Ottawa earlier tonight, but don't know how that finished.

They have the MLB network here, but everytime I turn it on I see soccer??? I'll get caught up on the Jays when I get home.

I'm calling it a night and making no promises on tomorrow's activities. Nite all 😴Read more

Day 6 - Not as Planned

So today I totally didn't do anything I had planned yesterday...lol it's vacay.

I didn't sleep well and was up early so I decided to do the "Secret Pool" and Bali beds today. Ahhh....
I strolled over at 6:30 to get a spot. It was another fab day in paradise. 27° but the humidity was back. It is so peaceful there in the morning. People don't start to show up until 10, then they take off for lunch. I met some folks from Windsor. More on that...

The pool water was so warm. The area is sheltered so the temp feels like 10° warmer than at the big pool.

The pool also has several built in jacuzzis and a hot tub. The whole pool is tile with various colors of blue and these irredesent patch. Beautiful.Read more

Erin Janiten This is our favourite thing to do in Vegas at the pools (the beds & lounge with a book). Thanks for the shots of the tile. Love the iridescent patches, very beautiful. It looks so peaceful.

Day 2 Around the Pool con't

Nice pool area with lots of chairs and, my sister's favorite palopas. Tons more at the beach. All first come first serve. That's an early morning likely to get a beach spot. Maybe another day.

It was breezy today. You can see the palms blowing at the beach. The water is 4 shades of blue. Absolutely gorgeous. There were a few boats tethered. And there were a few parasailors.

Buy the time I reached the beach after lunch there was seaweed. But they do clear it each morning. It's still an amazing spot.Read more

Traveler I did a Bali bed this morning, A beach palapa after lunch then end the day around the pool. You will def enjoy your Mexican palopas in a few weeks sister.

Day 2
Day 2 - The Food

Day two saw temps in the high 20s with a breeze. Perfecto.

After my adventures of yesterday and calling it a night I slept. It was 6:30 before I woke and I didn't rise until 9:30. Dinner last night was at Helios, as was breakfast and lunch today. I promise there are more restaurants selections to come.

Dinner was Polenta to start and then Surf and Turf skewers with mashed potatoes and sautéed veg. The beef was very good, not dry as I expected. Desert was three layer Chocolate Cake with raspberry colulis. Had to go for it. And the house merlot was very good. My waiter Daniel kept the glass half full at all times.

Breakfast was a buffet so I went European. After all I didn't get there until 10 and lunch was around the corner. A selection of cheeses, breads, real butter and prosciutto. Cool milk on the side. Lunch was fresh, hot chicken, garlic shrimp and rice. Desert was chocolate chip cookies to go.

I think I'll do some wandering to wear that off.Read more

Traveler The food has been really good so do far. Have been yo Helios for lunch each day. Tomorrow might be a burger and fries at the outdoor lounge. But people feed the pigeons.... so ya know me.

Day 14
Punta Cana Last Day Domrep

We have arrived at the last night in Punta Cana... and the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately I spent the majority of the day in bed with a lovely migraine. We did manage a dip into the ocean before we were pushed back ashore by rain.

To sum up the Domrep:

It's a country with a lot of facettes but even more plastic. Jungle, towns, brown rivers, beaches, more little islands. Travelling through it by car/bus/boat was enlightening on one hand and exhausting on the other. We saw a lot of both poor and rich, and there's a big gap between the two. We saw the island as much as "residents" as well as typical tourists.

Not to mention that the mosquitos were absolute terrible travelling companions. I hope they'll stay here. Not sure if the 40 degrees in Guatemala will be less nerve-wracking however....

Day 11–15
Punta Cana

Fina'freakin'lly we arrived in our last stop of the Dominican Republic, tourist hot spot Punta Cana, where we were dropped of in some road with no clue where our hotel was and no internet. So, naturally, we asked around, walked around, and finally found a place with a completely different name that had our booking number etc. The catch: we had to pay the hotel in cash.😩 So, swetty, exhausted and starved Luke with Nat, had to search for an ATM. First one was closed, the second one needed the duo to separate. I reluctantly stayed behind as Luke drove off with some random dude to an ATM machine. On a motorcycle.

(I waited, imagining what in the world I'd do if he never came back, nearly cried. I was also very tired, very stinky and super hungry.)

Absolutely nothing here but suuuper loud people honking our ears off. We had a short overlay here, glad to continue. There was a nice guy though that said I had nice eyes, so there's that.👀📢💥

Ps. Interesting was that people typically lived right at the main road; there were rarely any roads leading into neighborhoods. (See attached Video). My reasoning for this phenomena; No money for proper houses equals no money for cars, henceforth the necessity of public transport. So = houses at street, where the bus picks everyone up and no one needs to walk much.🏃🥵🏃🏼‍♀️Read more

Today, we tried the beach. Noah seemed to enjoy it. It was an insane amount of work for mommies however. So, we made it brief! Spent an hour on the beach and then headed back to the pool to relax and lounge. Ended our day with dinner @ the steakhouse (had myself a Heminguey Daiquiri) and a cappuccino for our walk back to the room.Read more
