    Löffingen-Sindelfingen

    March 28 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

  • Day 1

    Stuttgart

    September 21, 2024 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

  • Day 16

    Sindelfingen

    January 20 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

Been cold here - didn't get above freezing until yesterday. Two days ago I walked around town some more along the skinny roads they have here. Came across an old building with 1592 painted on the outside. Seems it's one of the oldest buildings in town. According to a plaque outside, it used to be the town hall of Sindelfingen and was built in 1478! The building now houses the town museum. Yesterday I decided to take a drive about an hour away and buy an authentic German Cuckoo Clock. A few more days and I'll be headed back home.Read more

  • Day 2–4

    Tubingen

    December 28, 2024 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 4 °C

We saw kj for the first time in ages hopping off the train, so exciting, we missed her ❤️. It was freezing tho and we soon learnt to layer heaps ❄️. Then we spent the day wandering the town with our personal tour guide who knew nothing about the history so we ended up teaching her from mums YouTube knowledge. Keyala was useful ordering though, our personal translator. We tried gluhwein (India can drink!), curry wurst and various other foods while walking around day 2 🍷🌭. We also explored the tubingen museum, looking at the miniature portraits and planning our own collection of massive portraits to make our home a manor 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒. We also saw a shadow animation exhibition which was really interesting. We had dinner with keyalas host family. They were lovely it was nice seeing where she’s been living 🏠. We had a German dinner, called Maultaschen, with them. Delish! We will be adding it to our menu.Read more

  • Day 13

    Stuttgart

    October 1, 2023 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

This morning we drove into Stuttgart and went to Birkenkopf. As we walked through the park
( pic 1), we finally got to the top of the hill. This is where they put all the ruins from Stuttgart after it was bombed in WWII. Fifty percent of the city was destroyed. 165 million cubic feet of destroyed buildings were moved to this area and it added 130 ft of height to the hill (Pics2-5). The view of Stuttgart from above was great!(pic 6,7).
Saw a wonderful church in Stuttgart, Johanneskirche(pics 8-10). It was closed so we could only enjoy it from outside.
Enjoyed lunch at a beer garden near the church. I always drink a Radler, a mixture of beer and sprite! It’s very refreshing.
Then we went to the Porsche Museum(pic 11). I think the guys really took it in.
The second to last my bit of humor for the day from the bathroom at the beer garden!
And the last pic is of the 3 of us at The top of Birkenkopf.

Highlight of the day: the weather here has been perfect, sunny but cool temps!

    Made it to the hotel

    January 6 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

Made it to the hotel and got checked in. Drove around the town a little bit to see if I could find some food but it's a holiday today and everything is closed. Maybe better luck tomorrow.
Oh and by the way, I've traveled over 7100 kilometers since yesterday - that's over 4400 miles!Read more

    Dienstag Schnitzeljagd Trupp H3 #761

    May 7, 2024 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Always great to come home to Germany, especially when I get to set trail for my youngest offspring here in Stuttgart. The DST H3 turned 15 last month.

Trail was out north-west of Stuttgart, in Renningen. As you can see from the map, there was little pavement abused on this trail, nothing but shiggy. It had also rained just enough over the past couple days that several areas were quite moist. After the Fest Hash weekend here in Stuttgart, and three days of hashing and drinking, I only expected about 10 to turn up, but when we set off to run, we had 21 eager hashers taking on the adventure.

It was all mud and guts, and surprisingly, everyone finished within 10 minutes of each other . . . the runners in one group, and the walkers not far behind. Dinner was in a cozy German restaurant, and after a couple beers all was right in the world. On On to next week.

Stuttgart H3 Fest – Ballbreaker Trail

    May 4, 2024 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Stuttgart Spring Fest 2024 – Ballbreaker Trail, into Runners Trail

We met at 0830 on Saturday morning, after a late night pub crawl. Who’s idea was that? 😊 Only 8 of the 60 hashers signed up showed up for the BB trail, so they missed out on the extra fun.

Took us 2 hours to run the first 9 kms to where the Runners trail started, and since we were so late, they were already gone. The sweeps had marked the checks from this point, so the next 3-4 kms were a sprint until we caught up to the runners, then it was back to normal breaking the checks.
At 15 kms we found another drink stop, and then we finished up with a final 6 kms or so. All totaled, the BB trail was about 19 kms, and with all the checks, some of us managed 21.5 kms. A great day on the hash, many thanks to the hares.

Once all the runners had finished, we waited a bit for the walkers to come in, then we had an entertaining circle, and some excellent picnic food to soak up the beer.

    Herrenberg und Weil im Schönbuch

    March 17, 2024 in Germany ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Read more
