    Löffingen-Sindelfingen

    Endlich gehts los👍🙏💯. Wir verabschiedeten uns nun auch von Löffingen und fuhren auf der Autobahn nach Sindelfingen zu Erwin Hymer. Da uns die Schlüssel für den Camper abhanden kamen und wir auch schon neue Schlösser bestellt hatten, erhofften wir uns dort Hilfe, da wir die alten Schlösser nicht demontieren konnten. Auch mit der tatkräftigen Unterstützung eines netten Mechanikers konnte man uns nicht helfen. Auch der Tip vom Mechaniker, es bei einem Schlüsseldienst zu versuchen fruchtete nicht. Dieser hatte wenigstens einen Rohling, den ich dann selber mit feilen so passend machen konnte, dass nun wieder alles funktioniert. Puhh, soo cool. Aus Freude darüber, gingen wir gleich nochmals einen Rohling kaufen, den er dann gleich zuschleifen konnte.
    Nun haben wir wieder 2 passende 🔑.
    Übernachten konnten wir gleich dort.

    Porsche Museum

    We picked up breakfast items last night at Aldi's. After a great night's sleep and a yogurt, granola and lunchmeat breakfast, we were ready for our first full day in Germany.
    We took the S bahn to the Porsche Museum. It is beautiful, well-engineered and informative.
    It took us through the history of Ferdinand Porshce's first design (an electric carriage) all the way through racing history and then current automobiles.
    They had a racing simulation that Brian really enjoyed.
    We would have to post 12 footprints to show all the photos Brian took. We will try to pare it down to 2 footprints!    Read more

    Carl's Brauhaus

    We were so hungry!! We had only eaten a bagel, a small bag of trail mix, and a British digestive biscuit all day. When we finally arrived at the city center, we ate at Carl's Brauhaus, which serves traditional Schwabian food. (That is the name of the traditional German food specific to this area).
    One thing that we need to get accustomed to is that restaurants will seat strangers with you at your table. I can tell that Brian- the extrovert- is going to love this custom. I hope to learn to survive it.
    I had Schwabuan turkey ragout and noodles, and Brian had 3 different kinds of ravioli in a black beer gravy. (Fun fact: the word for ravioli in German- maultaschen- means mouth pocket)
    We walked down the Konigstrasse and picked up breakfast food at Lidl.
    We topped the night off with gelato! We can't wait to sleep tonight.    Read more

    Dazed and confused in Stuttgart

    We had a smooth arrival in Stuttgart. We cleared Customs quickly and within 3 minutes of arriving at baggage claim, we retrieved both of our suitcases. Yay! We walked 4 minutes to our airport hotel and seamlessly checked in. We dropped our bags in our room and set out to take the train to the city plaza (Schlossplatz).
    This is where the dream arrival died. We had not done enough homework on figuring out the trains. We had assumed it was similar to Italy. It is NOT. 1 hour, 2 apps and 2 ticket kiosks later, we were on the correct, yet incredibly overcrowded train to the Schlossplatz.    Read more

    Via Zoo zum nächsten Hotel

    Heute stehen wieder gut 23 km auf dem Plan. Nach einem kurzen Stopp in Klein-Venedig geht es weiter in Richtung Stuttgarter Zoo und dies in Regenvollmontur 😏☔️.
    Trotz Regen, Fieber und Husten fährt Matteo die gut 15km selber und auch Nino tritt kräftig in die Pedalen.

    Am Zoo angekommen lässt sich zum Glück die Sonne wieder etwas blicken. Vögel, Schmetterlinge, Fische und viele Insekten werden am Anfang bestaunt.
    Nino freut sich natürlich besonders auf die Krokodile. Diese essen bei gut 300kg Körpergewicht nur 1 Hühnchen pro Woche, dafür inkl. Federn 🤣. Was für ein Glück dass wir dies live erleben dürfen 🤩.

    Danach ist aber insbesondere bei Matteo und Linda (hat auch Husten und Fieber) die Energie weg und wir machen uns auf die letzten Kilometer zum Hotel. Schade denn der Zoo hätte noch einiges zu bieten.

    Das Nachtessen wird dann in gewohnter Reisemanier auf dem Gaskocher im Hotelzimmer gekocht. Die weitere Reise werden wir etwas anpassen und mit dem Zug nach Heilbronn weiter reisen. So können wir uns hoffentlich alle mal etwas auskurieren und die weiteren Etappen wieder mehr geniessen.    Read more

    Stuttgart

    So, nachdem hier so viel aus allen Herren Ländern erzählt wird, dachte ich, dass ich mal einen homereport mache😁.
    Nachdem wir heute ungewöhnlich lange (bis 9.00 Uhr) geschlafen haben, habe ich mich eine halbe Stunde später auf mein Rad geschwungen und Frühstück gekauft.
    Gut gestärkt ging es an eine kurze Wohnungaufräumsession und dann in die Stadt. Jede Menge war geboten in den verschiedensten Winkeln.
    Da Sanis p&c Samstage (übrigens der letzte heute) immer sehr lang sind, habe ich sie in ihrer Pause getroffen und wir haben es uns am Eckensee mit einem Markthallenstandardsnack gut gehen lassen.
    Danach ging es für Sani zum Arbeiten und für mich zum Einkaufen. Nach den Besorgungen fürs Abendessen und einem Geburtstagsgeschenk für meine Holde, war endlich Zeit für einen Abstecher zu einem meiner Local Dealer...gut für ihn und schlecht für mich, dass ich fündig wurde.
    Nach einer interessanten Tour durch den Stuttgarter Westen hab ich mir im Wyld eine kleine Erfrischung gegönnt und dabei mit viel Freude den kicker Bundesligaticker verfolgt.
    Dann ging es wieder Richtung Heslach. Da es noch erfreulich warm war saßich noch ein wenig zum Lesen im Garten. Nach Wäschewaschen und Friedhof gießen machte ich mich an die Abendessenszubereitung: Lasagne mit frischem Salat und einem leckeren Vino.
    Jetzt ist alles verputzt und aufgeräumt und wir werden den Abend mit 2 Folgen Bridgerton beschließen.

    Bodega Campillo

    Estuvimos en la Bogeda Campillo en una visita guiada con una guía que tenía muy mala leche y un poco mal educada. La Bodega Campillo pertenece al grupo Faustino, que es una de las mas grandes empresas de vino de la region. La Bodega Campillo tiene una co-operation con el museo Guggenheim de Bilbao.
    Tienen un almacen de mas de 6.600 barricas con un Volumen de 225l. Además tienen un millón de botellas, que nos da un total de 3,25 millones de botellas. Cada año venden 1,5 millones de botellas. La mayoría de sus vinos son Crianza que tienen quedarse en el almacén unos 2-3 años. También tenían vinos muchos más viejos, hasta une del año 1978.

    Stuttgart

    We made our sprint from Heidelberg to Stuttgart today. We had planned on hitting both Porsche & Mercedes Benz museums, the latter being the better overall due to its rich general automobile history in addition to the MB story. But, we ending up only having time for the Porsche museum since we had to drive on to Frankfurt that night.

    Needless to say, it was phenomenal, a must-see for the Porscheaholic. The two high points were Ferdinand Porsche's life before the first Porsche, the 356, was released in 1954, (BTW he's Bohemian by birth👍) and seeing the many race cars that gave this company such a rich racing heritage. Interestingly Ferdinand was initially interested in electrically power. His first car was released in 1900. A gasoline-electric hybrid, it sent power generated by a gas engine to motors powering the car. (There was no intermediary battery.)
    Furthermore the electric motors were built into the front wheel hubs.

    Also caught in the shop (they service Porsche's here too) was a very special car, the GT 1 Strassenversion, a rare road going version of the Le Mans-winning GT 1 endurance champ. (Like to see this and a Carrera GT hotting it up on the Nordschleife! 👀🏁)

    Second showday - Stuttgart, DE

    May 1 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

    Today's venue was very very small. The one we were playing in felt more like a youth centre. Not really a stage and unfortunately the ticketsale was also not the best..

    The weather was really lovely and everyday we have all the time we need for soundcheck, so it was a chilled day. We went for a walk in the park here and I showered 2 times. One time after dinner and again after show, just because I could and it felt amazing. What a good shower can do for a human is amazing.

    We ordered pizza with a side of salad and tiramisu. The tiramisu was amazing, so I hope to get an extra small bite from the leftovers we took in the bus.

    The show was very nice also. Better than I expected. The audience was with few, but the ones who came really enjoyed it and it didn't feel like a strange gig at all. And otherwise we got another practice round in hahah.

    Now I'm laying in my bunk, some are also already in bed, and a few are still chilling in the lounge areas. Let's hope for a smooth ride tonight and I hope to get a lot of hours sleep. I'm positive about it ✨️✨️    Read more

    Hohenpark

    After the Porsche Museum, we took the train a few stops down to Hohen Park. We stopped at a quaint little restaurant in the park where they served Greek food and played American Blues music. So cool! We talked at length to the owner and a couple of German patrons. We were able to leave them witnessing tracts in German, and they gladly accepted them.
    After lunch, we walked to a tower on a high hill and got to see a beautiful panorama of the city. The tower is constructed of cables and is built to sway in the wind. It was a windy day so I took a video of the swaying. It challenged my fear of open heights...but I survived and didn't even get dizzy.
    We then made the decision to walk the 3.5 km to the city center where we were meeting a former colleague for dinner. He and his wife moved to Stuttgart 2 years ago. It was great to see them and learn about their lives in Germany.
    The 3.5 km walk was eclectic...it took us through some beautiful parks with wonderful architecture and some sketchy neighborhoods. Fun fact: Germany has rats in their garbage, too!    Read more
