On day 4, the claim of the world's largest brewery drew us out to Pilsen, a town about 60 miles South West of Prague. We booked an English tour of the Pilsner Urquell brewery and had about an hour before it began to explore the town that we accessed via a park with ponds. Pilsen had been City of Culture 2015 and it was well worth a look round its large and colourful square that had 4 large golden Greek letters spouting refreshingly cool water.
The brewery tour was the best Vicky had been on. We were shown both the old and new production plants in an interactive and engaging 90 minute presentation that concluded in a trip to the cold underground cellars and a sample of the produce.
We'd planned an evening bbq but arrived back at the campsite later than planned so Will worked his magic with the griddle pan on the hob instead :)Read more
