    Such a full day! First off, passion fruit for breakfast. Then we were able to ride a cable car to the top of Table Mountain-early bird gets the worm since high winds could close it down. Incredible views and waterfall clouds!! Despite my exhausted research, found out we needed Yellow fever vaccinations so our guide found us a travel clinic and we were inoculated.     Thornybush Game Reserve

    This is the real start of our safari. Flew to Hoedspruit and drove to the reserve. After checking in, went on our first safari and saw rhino, elephants, impala and wildebeest. Had an amazing sunset drink and snack break in the bush where David took a bush wee. Then back for a delicious dinner and then retired to our luxurious rooms for a quick sleep.     Thornybush Game Reserve

    Another amazing day at Thornybush. AM Game drive started at 5:30 AM. Started by seeing a lion and his 2 lionesses napping. The we came across a pack of wild dogs which had cornered a baby impala in a pond. They finally were able to attack it and bring it to shore but a group of hyenas took the impala from them and ate it in about 10 minutes. A bit gruesome but it showed life in the bush. Our guide and tracker were amazing getting us as close as possible. Our guide was so excited seeing this. Absolutely incredible. My video is too lengthy but I included some pics.     Thornybush Game Reserve-day 3

    2 more game drives today. In the morning we found the leopard so we have seen the Big 5. These animals are so used to people watching them that they don't run off or attack. We are amazed at how close we can get to them. Then it started to rain and we tried to find the 2 lion cubs spotted in the area but we were getting too wet. The afternoon drive was great. Partly sunny and very comfortable temp. We saw zebra, wildebeest, wild dogs, female lions and watch this male lion walk down the road to his mound where he hangs out. Our sunset drink and snack stop had an elephant grazing behind us. This game Reserve was amazing and we leave tomorrow.Read more

    Victoria Falls Hotel, Zimbabwe

    Flew from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls. Staying at an old colonial but very luxurious hotel near the falls-you can see the mist and hear the Falls. Hiked around the falls which is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the world. The largest not tallest falls in the world. You get pretty wet due to the mist coming off the falls. We had a delicious buffet dinner at the hotel with African music and dancing.Read more

    Chobe National Park, Botswana

    Traveled from Victoria Falls to Chobe National Park in Botswana (more stamps for my passport) had a game drive in the AM and saw hippos, baboons, impala (of course) and lots of elephants.     Busy day in Victoria Falls

    Started with a personal interaction experience with elephants. Never touched or feed one before. Then made a humbling visit to one of the local schools.     Busy day touring around Nairobi. First, went to a giraffe center and fed giraffes-they are so sweet and docile. Then on to the elephant orphanage and watched them feed the youngsters. Went to a Bead and Leather shop where they empower women and disabled people to make some beautiful beads. Tasty lunch at a beautiful garden. Dinner was at the home of one of the safari tour groups owners. Very nice-food was delicious-grilled steak/chicken and a variety of sides.Read more

    Did a game safari in the AM-a little different from Thornybush since we had to stay on the road and the animals were a little farther away. We saw 2 giraffes start the mating dance but she wasn't very receptive. Went to the Mission in Action Orphanage in Nakuru which was he a heartwarming. The woman who ran the organization was amazing and all the children were so articulate and happy.Read more

    Busy day-up at 4AM to go for a sunrise balloon ride followed by a champagne (Prosecco) breakfast in the open. Then all day game drive where we saw everything-cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, lions eating Topi ( which is a type of gazelle) and hyenas eating a hippo. Picnic lunch under a tree.     Time to move-flew from Masai Mara to the Tanzania border and then had to be bussed to the customs. Then flew to the Serengeti. Fun little flights from small airstrip.
